Wondering how the interaction between Scarface and Twoface would be Scarface: You know Dent, you and I aren't that different, we both like fancy cars, a good whiskey on the rocks and we both have to deal with a dummy attached to us. Two-Face: I wish Harvey was a Dummy, otherwise I will had got rid of him long time ago. Harvey: the feeling is mutual. What about you? Arnold: I'm fine. Or something like that
@@itsBLX No one seems to have mentioned the similarity that even overshadows the split persona; they both operate and run their organizations like mobsters from the glory days; fedora and tommy guns.
I almost feel kinda bad for Wesker after having gone through all the trouble of being tied to Scarface. It's similar to how Harvey Dent seeks to be cured but will always be brought back to villainy by "big bad two-face". After seeing your top 5 video on Scarface & the ventriloquist, I exactly thought of Two-Face and surprised no writer have ever written a rogues team-up story. It would be interesting and probably hilarious if Dent's two-sided coin ended up falling in Wesker's possession.
@@samuelwilliams1619 no, but I do know what it's basically about, in fact, that storyline's most iconic scene was shown in *the Dark Knight Rises* and *Arkham Origins*
How about a top 5 Batman viallins' henchmen, covering guy like Rhino, Ubu, Gaggy, ...ahh Black Mask had a number of guys (Tatoo, Joe Rabbit, then during the Red Hood saga and afterwards some business guy served as his lieutenant). Or a top five Gotham cops (excluding Gordon) e.g. Bullock, Stan Kitch, Hardback Bock, Montoya, Crispus Allan, Sarah Essen, Shotgun Smith, Pettit etc.
Great video , Rogues! To me the ventriloquist and Scarface are one best villains of Batman rogues gallery, and also one most tragic and sympatic (alongside Two Face and Mr Freeze). For me the best version of the adaptation of the character outside the comics is the Batman TAS version, with the episode double talk, been one the best one to focus on Arnold's mind and he dealing with the influence of Scarface (not to mention is one of the best reform villain episodes of the series, after Birds of Feather, with a surprising ending) It's shame that the duo is so underrated because I would love to see Arnold and Scarface appear in a Batman movie in the future. He could work in small-scale movie, kind like "Judge Dredd", in which the plot could involve Batman trying to stop a gang war between the Penguim and Scarface.
Great video as always. For a modern take on Arnold’s DID akin to the knightfall storyline, you should read “ I am suicide” from Batman rebirth by Tom King. Even though Arnold/Scarface isn’t the main antagonist, he plays a major supporting role, and it’s a creepy, sad and funny look into his mental state. Also, I think the reason that Arnold and Two-Face don’t interact is because their “ Tones” are different even though they share the same condition. With Arnold, sometimes you can laugh at his actions because they’re being carried out through a dummy; so that creates a disconnect of sorts. There is no disconnect with Harvey because he is committing all the heinous acts himself, even if his psyche is split. So that makes him more realistic and tragic. Honestly, if they were to interact, I could totally see Harvey killing Arnold immediately out of sheer annoyance over his “gimmick”. Harvey would probably see himself as the real deal as far as villains with DID go. Whereas he’d think Arnold was a poser due to the dummy.
My favorite ventriloquist story is one from the Batman the animated series comics where Scarface gets jealous of another dummy Arnold has and decides to go try to kill Arnold's mom to Arnold's objection an Batman has to stop him
One way of explaining it could be that the gallows-wood IS cursed, but by itself, it's simply a negative influence in whatever form it might take. Like, if someone had carved it into, say, a lamp, the light it shed would bring out everybody's worst side whenever it was turned on; if it was carved into a steering wheel, the car it was part of would constantly crash and cause horrible bloody accidents, etc. But it was carved into a dummy, and, as such, it simulates life - horrible, malign life - and exerts an influence on its user. Wesker genuinely DOES have a split personality which manifests his dark side, but it's egged on and made a million times worse by his association with Scarface. It unlocks his inner demons - he may provide Scarface's voice and personality, but the dummy itself provides the push over the edge into darkness. Perhaps some other ventriloquist could take the thing and give it a makeover, along with a whole new name and personality, but it'd still wind up forcing him to do horrible things somehow. Anyway, that's how I would explain it, if I had to. I do agree with you, though, that the Ventriloquist/Scarface relationship works best when it's ambiguous. Scarface COULD be alive - and that's creepy - or he could simply be a facet of Arnie's personality that constantly manifests itself - and that's also creepy. Or, as in my version, both.
These are amazing. And the Ambiguous Ventriloquist has also caught my attention for quit awhile. Batman truly has the most intriguing villains. Thank you once again Mr.Rogues and happy new year!

The fact that I have actually considered paying $200 for a second hand btas figure of these guys shows you how much I love these two. Most underrated bat rouge
@Myka Ruest Good Lawd, no! Nothing from 2000-on --- none of that Grant Morrison-Scott Snyder-Tom King nonsense- even ranks on my scale. I've read Batman all my life, and I've hated almost everything from the earthquake on. At least I'm glad you didn't pick Hush or something. Giggle.
@Myka Ruest Sorry, I don't. It's a real shame that comics are priced so high out of the range of casual readers. There are probably graphic novels and collections you can borrow at a local library though.
There was this Batman storyline That came out in 2005 ( that by now must seem like a million years ago ) Broken City ,it was fun story that had a murder mystery theme and a depiction of Killer Croc which in my opinion could work in a realistic Batman film. Anyways , Ventriloquist and Scarface had an interesting role in the story and it showed Wesker in a light I have never seen him before . Batman : Brocken City . If you ever get it I highly recommend it.
12:55 To be Fair. He may really the one who most royalty to Scarface. Yet he may believe that Scarface really alive and believe that only Wesker is a man who make him alive...
"A Psycho Drama" is my favorite, too, and Knightfall would actually be my second favorite. I actually prefer "The Return of Scarface" over his first appearance, but I'm not sure how I'd rank those or "The Secret Origins of Scarface." My problem with "Secret Origins" is the same as yours: I like the style and the tone, and I do like the idea of Scarface possibly being haunted or possessed, but it also feels strange to me that Arnold becomes the Ventriloquist because of something another person makes, so to speak. If I were to venture out of mainstream comics, looking at adaptations, I think my favorite (or maybe second favorite; it's VERY closely tied with Psycho Drama) is one set in the TAS universe, entitled "Puppet Show." It's actually somewhat similar to Psycho Drama, but a bit shorter and slightly less horrific in tone, presumably given the continuity. Seriously, TAS comics seemed to have a lot of the best stories, some to compete with the mainstream...just like the show, I guess. XD
You’re absolutely right about the TAS comics having the best stories, they also actually have the best Mr. Freeze story ever told in Batman Gotham Adventures#5, Batman Gotham Adventures#51, and Batman Adventures#15. I seriously prefer this trilogy to the Freeze trilogy in the actual show, it’s that good.
The TAS comics also had better Riddler stories. One story from batman Gotham sees Riddler escape and hide in the penthouse of the toy owner from Riddler Reform. He sends batman Riddler that reveal the crimes of other criminals, whike he just relaxes in luxury. Batman figured out where Riddler was though, thanks to his riddle obsession. The ending is very tragic and dark.
@@tayojones9460 I have read that Riddler story and it's great! Scarecrow was also handled much better in the TAS comics. There was one story where Crane becomes a teacher again but he becomes pissed that so many of his students are illiterate so he takes away Gotham's ability to read. Another story also has him become a teacher again and has him befriend one of his students. But after he finds out that she was sexually abused he goes to take revenge on the person who did it to her. They're both great.
I read the story where crane befriend the student and it was great. One of the few times TAS Scarecrow is shown in a sympathetic light. They also write Croc better in the TAS comics, making him more sympathetic.
So Rogues. What is your favorite interpretation of The Ventriloquist and Scarface in media. I am honestly split between 2 versions with them being the version from TAS and The Batman For The Batman, Scarface has a new design which I much prefer over the other designs of him, Arnold Wesker seems to have a bit more of a character in this one that paints him in a more sympathetic role with him seeming more like a slave of scarface, always being afraid of him but with him also seemingly needing him as if his brain is addicted to the feeling of the disorder manifesting itself within the puppet, like a drug, to the point where everytime Arnold loses him, he goes through a mental breakdown. Now I'm not saying the TAS version of Wesker doesn't show a bit of that as well but it seems way more prominant and strong in The Batman with, to me, Arnold in TAS seeming more like just the way Scarface gets around, atleast compared to The Batman version. The show also provided its own interpretation of the possibility of what if his disorder manifested itself in another way inside of a another puppet as I kinda see as a opposite to how his disorder manifests itself within scarface with atleast that being how I interpret it. Now that idea may have been done bad in execution in my opinion but its still a very interesting idea. Now on the other hand for TAS, it obviously has the better characterization for Scarface and the better voice. So either way it's a win lose situation with if I choose TAS I'd be getting a better scarface and better voice but with The Batman I would be getting a better Wesker and a better Scarface design. As for the ideas they do with both Arnold's psychosis in both series, I think both series carry some interesting ideas like with his disorder manifesting itself in another way in The Batman and how Batman plays both personalities with Arnold's voice in TAS. As for the relationships in both shows, I have to admit it's better in TAS but the relationship in The Batman is also pretty damn good. Also I like how the episode of the batman that did the idea of his disorder manifesting itself in another puppet in another way is kind of a mix between the Ventriloquist Knightfall Story, your #1 spot as well as being a scarface origin story. But I dont know. What are your thoughts
Oh I love this pair, one of my all time favorite rogues. It's unfortunate that they are so underrated and hardly featured in anything. I just all around enjoy the concept of Wesker projecting a repressed personality into a dummy, but who's really the dummy? And all that. The eerie thing is that as far as I know, Scarface has never been stated to be "alive" or not. He did get another Ventriloquist and had the same personality, but who knows
Thanks! I've covered most of them anyway. I guess there's still Hush, but I dont want to make a video on him. Hmm. Anarky, maybe? Yeah, it's just scraps left... :P I suppose I should focus on non-bat rogues for this series from now on.
@@mr.rogues4145 I totally understand you on Hush, Paul Dini wrote a few enjoyable stories with him but that's it really. Anarky would actually be really interesting though.
7:38 In Season 1 of the Telltale Batman game Wesker had Socko instead of Scarface . And in the comics Scarface later comes back and the two fight with Scarface destroying Socko and Wesker got shot in the hands.
I really do hope the ventriloquist and scarface get put into live action again like what they did on Gotham. The actor played mr penn from Gotham would be great as the actual ventriloquist and just use the scarface prop they made for the show now that would fantastic
Great vid! Can you please make another video on Gotham’s villains? It’s a hard show to get into but you’d like it also Scarface is in it for an episode.
Of course most of the stories on this list were written by Alan Grant, nothing against that but still. I agree though the other Scarefaces just aren't all that intersting, personally I'd actually like to see Arnold come face to face to face to face with the other split personality and drug themed villain Grant created Edward Hallen.
Scarface and Ventrioquist are both amazing rogues of Batman. I think the concept of two people, one whose a puppeteer, and one whose a puppet gangster, is such an amazing combination. I feel really bad for Arnold Weskler, he has Scarface as a curse plauged on him, he just wants his career as a entertainer, and not a sudistic criminal that Scarface turned him to be. I hope in another comic they would have Arnold get rid of Scarface once and for all, and never to become a criminal, and Scarface would be in hell, because Arnold is just tired of Scarface's evil polts, schemes, and how he wants Arnold to be the dummy, and not himself. I still think Scarface and Ventriloquist are still an amazing Batman villain combination of good and evil. Anyways, thank you for this video, I would also like to see a top 5 best stories on Deadshot actually, that would be cool. Have a great day.

Anyway, great job looking forward to your future videos.
During No Man's Land Wesker created another personality Quakemaster because of the shock of the earthquake. Quakemaster said he caused the earthquake and that he'd cause another one unless he got a ransom.
Great review‼️👌🏻👍🏻😄, I always thought that this character was based from the 1979 Anthony Hopkins movie: Magic (Fats dummy) & the 1945 Dead of Night anthology horror story final (Hugo dummy)... both depict a man loosing his mind & thinking that the dummy is real... 😱😱
Why was the Ventriloquist sent to Blackgate instead of Arkham? I could actually believe it's because his case was _so_ over the top, even by Gotham standards, that no jury could believe anyone could be that crazy, and figured he must have been trying to plead insanity to avoid regular prison.
Great video of a pretty unique foe in the Batmans Rogues gallery. PS: Any chance your " Van Halen " theme returns as the intro? Are there any plans for a Catman video?
He's definitely one of my favorite split personality villians. The New 52 version sucks compared to Arnold. She shouldn't have even really been called Ventriloquist. Great video. Ventriloquist is awesome. The first time I learned about Scarface was in the first Lego Batman game, where they tell us his origin. His real origin like in Number 5. I think him in the show The Batman was just as good as from Batman TAS.
@@lamontabenson4886 I haven't read any of her stories. But I guess I don't mind her. A new Ventriloquist after the first one died makes sense for comics.

Wow, I have not try ur number one list. A Psycho Drama thaat look interesting gonna give it a try. For Ventriloquist my favourite would be The return of scarface and Showcase 94 that explained his origin 😁.
John Wagner created Judge Dredd while Alan Grant co-opted many other stories inclusive with their creation of Scarface & Ventriloquist. A twisted comic villain none the less.
How about a video on Death Man? Great Batman Rogue from the American comics and Japanese Manga He has a cool costume, great supernatural elements, and has been in some great Anime. He also has a cool retro Sixties Silver Age appeal.
Thank you Rogues. The Ventriloquist is one of my absolute favourites, yet he is constantly overlooked. More so than Killer Croc and Two Face. I hope DC comics collects his stories in their Arkham trades, but knowing them, they will include stories with the female versions. Seriously what was the bloody point of those two anyway? Just focus on Wesker on Scarface. I always feel bad for comic book Wesker. He just wants to be happy, but his obsession with Scarface keeps getting in the way. At least the TAS version of Wesker got a happy ending.
From what I have seen Scarface is like discount Twoface only both personalities do stuff at the same time instead of Twoface doin crime as Dent does stuff once in awhile This leads to an interesting dynamic plus some other differences like how Ventriloquist is more timid than Harvey and uhh... I still think Ventriloquist and Scarface are cool ok...

This list was indeed a long time coming. You've now covered all the major Batman villains, Rogues, Great work.
Ventriloquist and Scarface Also too really deserve their own movie !!!!
Suggestion: Do a Top 5 BEST Brainiac Stories.
I actually really like Peyton Riley she’s really great in the Dini Detective run
Yeah, she wasn't bad. Has she been seen since Dini used her?
@@matthewschwartz6607 I don’t think so, which is a shame
I actually don't mind Scarface having some ambiguous possibly supernatural quality....but it does work best if its ambiguous and not outright a thing
The Ventriloquist and Scarface are so awesome!
7:38 In Season 1 of the Telltale Batman game Wesker had Socko instead of Scarface . And in the comics Scarface later comes back and the two fight with Scarface destroying Socko and Wesker got shot in the hands.
The Knightfall story had a nice 60s show reference with the Chief O'Hara puppet
I really do hope the ventriloquist and scarface get put into live action again like what they did on Gotham. The actor played mr penn from Gotham would be great as the actual ventriloquist and just use the scarface prop they made for the show now that would fantastic
yeah the concept was great. Unfortunately the episode was garbage as most of season 5
Gawd, I wish Matt Reeves was doing a Scarface-based film instead of the weird, cast-swapped, character-crowded thing he seems to have planned.
It would be great but let's face it, it's 2020 after all
Who is Matt Reeves?
@@matthewschwartz6607 Mr. & Mrs. Reeves' boy.
Great vid! Can you please make another video on Gotham’s villains? It’s a hard show to get into but you’d like it also Scarface is in it for an episode.
Wesker resembles Dilbert IMO.
I wish the character got more screen time in movies/TV rather than just showing up once or twice and then immediately killed off or dismissed.
Of course most of the stories on this list were written by Alan Grant, nothing against that but still. I agree though the other Scarefaces just aren't all that intersting, personally I'd actually like to see Arnold come face to face to face to face with the other split personality and drug themed villain Grant created Edward Hallen.
#5 is one of my top two favorite Batman-related comics.
I liked his Quakemaster story during Cataclysm.
Have a great day.
hello Mr.Rogues since I found your video of Top 5 Superman Villains I being loving your channel and revisiting couple videos already like history videos, keep up the amazing content and it will be amazing for me to see you soon and maybe do a history video of Poison Ivy and Brainiac especially Brainiac one of personal and number one favorite Superman villain of all time in my opinion and Ivy second personal favorite after the Joker. Anyway, great job looking forward to your future videos.
Do Top 5 BEST Cheetah Stories.
During No Man's Land Wesker created another personality Quakemaster because of the shock of the earthquake. Quakemaster said he caused the earthquake and that he'd cause another one unless he got a ransom.
Makes me a but miffed that he hasn't appeared much in other media other than batman tas and a episode of the batman and Gotham
He should be in a movie even as a secondary antagonist
My favorite episode of the television show Gotham, was the one with the Ridler, and Scarface, teaming up.
Ventriloquist is my favorite B-tier Bat-villain. I think they should be on the same level as a Riddler or Two-Face.
Perhaps we can get stories on Alfred, Gordon, even Bullock?
You should do a Hillbrook Asylum video on a patient similar to The Ventriloquist one day.
I think someone else already did that.
@@mr.rogues4145 You sure? Pretty sure I hadn't seen like that.
I really liked scarface in the batman/Judge Dredd crossover
I need to check these stories out eventually. The only scarface story I read was the one Brian K Vaughn wrote.
Top 5 Best Ventriloquist & Scarface Comic Covers?
What about Peyton Riley?
@@lamontabenson4886 I haven't read any of her stories. But I guess I don't mind her. A new Ventriloquist after the first one died makes sense for comics.
But how did Peyton learn ventriloquism? That still makes no sense to me.
If we're lucky Maybe Ventriloquist and Scarface will have a live Action Movie just like JOKER
5.I think we know how this went down
4.back with a vengeance
3.I bet he took that sock off Mick Foley's hands
2.say no to drugs kids
1.easier said than done
Honestly, I think that it would be kind of cool if you did the other 2 ventriloquists.
You know...I have a feeling that Batman was probably pretty gritty in the 80’s...
Nice video.Cant wait for another.
You should cover the underrated Batman villains Anarky and Magpie
Yes! Thank you.
Wow, I have not try ur number one list. A Psycho Drama thaat look interesting gonna give it a try. For Ventriloquist my favourite would be The return of scarface and Showcase 94 that explained his origin 😁.
Actor WHO really must Play Ventriloquist are Toby Jones , guys !!!!
I had theorise that the man is suffering bipolar
That's funny, I was about to ask you the same question.
I hope the Ventriloquist shows up in the mainline DC cinematic universe, though it's unlikely. Perhaps a fan film will do it.
Great video as always
John Wagner created Judge Dredd while Alan Grant co-opted many other stories inclusive with their creation of Scarface & Ventriloquist. A twisted comic villain none the less.
Scarier than scarecrow, crazier than joker, more whimsical than szasz
How about a video on Death Man? Great Batman Rogue from the American comics and Japanese Manga He has a cool costume, great supernatural elements, and has been in some great Anime. He also has a cool retro Sixties Silver Age appeal.
The amount of times you said *"Gritty 80s"*
Officer O'Hara could that be a reference to the 1960s Batman show starring Adam West and Burt Ward I think so
Do a video on Marvel's shocker
he should seriously do more Spider-man villains
Thank you Rogues. The Ventriloquist is one of my absolute favourites, yet he is constantly overlooked. More so than Killer Croc and Two Face. I hope DC comics collects his stories in their Arkham trades, but knowing them, they will include stories with the female versions. Seriously what was the bloody point of those two anyway? Just focus on Wesker on Scarface.
I always feel bad for comic book Wesker. He just wants to be happy, but his obsession with Scarface keeps getting in the way. At least the TAS version of Wesker got a happy ending.
The point of the first female Ventriloquist, Peyton Reilly, was to bring Scarface back after DC stupidly killed Arnold off.
They shouldn't have killed off Arnold in the first place.
My favourite minor Batman Rogue
The only V and S comic I've read is Shadow of the Bat 59 and 60 but it's a great one.
I all ways believe that Scarface was a supernatural villain and came to the conclusion that what if the dummy really was possessed by multiple
ex Cons
Question Mr Rogues, what's your opinion of Shauna Belzer and Ferdie?
Rip norm breyfogle
From what I have seen Scarface is like discount Twoface only both personalities do stuff at the same time instead of Twoface doin crime as Dent does stuff once in awhile
This leads to an interesting dynamic plus some other differences like how Ventriloquist is more timid than Harvey and uhh... I still think Ventriloquist and Scarface are cool ok...
Actor who should really Play Ventriloquist are Toby Jones and actors who should voice Scarface is Andy Serkis !!!!
More stories pleaseeeee
More ventriloquist
I love gritty-eighties Batman
He popular here because who doesn't like goose bumps and Al Capone
Mr. Rouges list proves he no dummy. But yeah neither someone else or Scarface being made from wood of a cursed tree deserve to be in hi origin story.
