best video on this, short and to the point.
Glad it was helpful!
This method will NOT work on the X3. The lens is attached differently. FYI 👈
I can imagine the sense of satisfaction when it all worked. I was taking some 360 footage in a stone quarry and yeah you can guess what happened...i will give this a go as like your board says..."whats the worse thing that can happen" right :)
Just make a small dent in the glass first so the drill has something to latch onto. And good luck 😁
Ty tho !! I really appreciate the help
A good tip from me, try to keep the music at a lower level than your voice. It's very annoying to keep turning the volum up to hear what you say, and in the next secound, turning it down because of the loud music.
Yeah I've noticed after posting that levels were a tad too high on the drilling bits.
Hey there one question, is this also able to do on the one inch version?
Looking forward to hearing from you
Etienne
I’ve no idea bud, sorry, the 1in version has a totally different lens system. Again, sucks they’ve not done it as a twist on… sorry to hear that you’ve got an issue with yours :(
When putting the new lens in, does it clip in or glue in? How does it stay in place?
It got stuck on but I’ve used a touch of sikaflex on the bit I broke off. Just don’t use any of the super glue kind of stuff as it will leave a layer of residue on the inside and outside of the lens when it evaporates.
I want to ask if the lens size is the same as the Mijia Sphere 360
No idea, sorry dude :/
have you had any fogging issues?
Nope, just don't use any Super Glue kind of glues as they will leave residue on both the lens and the sensor.
I’m so scared 😭 your video was the only video that I seen that works
There’s also an option of ungluing the whole cover, which seems to work too… I’m not sure if this was the best way to deal with this but certainly worked. Apart from the drill slipping a bit and shaving off the collar. Not a biggie though :)
Im assuming its no longer water proof after this right??
After me taking that edge off... it's a bid doggy 😂 Since making that vid I've managed to take it off (it was just snuggly in) and add some sikaflex glue, had in the water and it seems to be working fine but I can't guarantee anyone else's will too. One thing to mention is that to avoid any 'superglue' kind of glues (like Gorilla) as they will leave oxidation (if that's the right word) on the inside and outside of the lens and lens cap.
@@JakeOski thanks 🙏
No worries dude! It sucks we have to do this stuff instead of just screwing them on...
The real question is why they didn't just make it removable. Turn 180 degrees and lift a flap that locks in place kind of setup.
Even their own sticky lenses completely suck....
Yes mate, completely agree 👍🏻
