    I now use your method of boldly pruning the top first rather than timidly clipping at the side - so much better. I knew the clippers would be better; you always make it look easy using them. I try to channel you when I wade into my box balls

    Indeed perfection, it reminds me of my father's 100 ft x 4ft privit hedge with clipper #2...he dreaded it, but was always so proud as I was as a kid on my imaginary jumper easily scaling it's height, my trusty steed never failed me...the people that bought my father's home pulled it all out and put up a fence, they never had the pleasure of talking to the neighbor over the hedge...however, the older he got he finally purchased an electric trimmer and never regretted...awesome job...!

      Hi there and thank you very much for your message, I myself got an electric trimmer last year as I know at some point I will need to swap over.. but for now I’m holding off until the last minute lol 😂 I did try them out when I first got them but it takes some getting used to them 🤭 I probably vlog the excitement with them at some point 👍🏼 all the best and have a wonderful day 🌱 Chip

    Hi Chip, Tanner trading sell dagging shears if you prefer sheep shears.

    I used IKEA scissors to clip my 21 box shapes, cheap, sharp, usually brightly coloured, easyish to find when lost in the garden, not a disaster if not found. Good clean cut. For the 2 big ones I used lightweight shears.
    I did the hot cross bun method to get the shape reasonably symmetrical . You obviously have a really good eye for the shaping!
    I used a dog towel or two shoved around the base to catch most of the clippings. Just to try to minimise the bending🙁
    Lovely video❤ so appreciate your work, thanks for sharing❤

    Chip go see Hattori Hanzo about Japanese steel, in the mean time try the Okatsune shears. Then you can work up lol.

    My boxwood keep getting leggy and have never had a compact form to them. Boxwoods grow here, they are in all of the old gardens and are perfectly compact and shaped beautifully. Wonder what I am doing wrong? 🤔

    • @ChipsGreenWorld
      @ChipsGreenWorld  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there Jan , you need to trim them as soon as they grow before they get out of shape ..and do this as often as possible , this will help encourage the growth below which will help them thicken up 👍🏼 trim trim and trim again 🌳 this should solve your problem.. all the best and have fun with your topiary balls 🌳🌳 Chip

      @@ChipsGreenWorld oh thank you for the information. I am trying to grow a round hedge, square sides and top that circles an ornamental tree and I have alliums planted inside the circle. I am heading outside to give them a good trim.

    HI Chip, love your videos! Was wondering the stone water basin has some beautiful moss all over it, did you place some special moss on it or was it just developed naturally over time?

    • @ChipsGreenWorld
      @ChipsGreenWorld  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there and thank you for your message .. The moss on the stone font has just come with time as this is a very old medieval stone font .. it was covered in moss when I purchased it 8 years ago, but if you want to create something similar I hear yogurt can speed up the process, I would maybe try adding some moss to the yogurt, mix it up and brush it on 👍🏼 it will still take some time but may help speed things along
      All the best 🌱 Chip

    Your work is very inspiring. I have planted 9 topiary balls a month ago, they are already round shaped but very small. I need to buy a shear/clipper and not sure which one to buy even after watching the video. It seems your old style one could be the way forward. What would you advise to buy please. Appreciate your help.Thank you
