  • Simple and straight-to-the-point video on how to replace driver-side cv axle shaft on a 2003 Ford Focus SVT manual transmission. Should cover various years of the early Ford Focus.
    Here's the link to the cv axle www.amazon.com...

    Great video! Used this as my guide when I changed my CV. Also, big thanks for providing all the torque specs.

    Great video. Just changed my axle on my cmax, same procedure. Only issue I'm having is I get a pop when I make right turns into driveways or hit speed bumps . Didn't happen before. Can't figure it out

    sometimes it helps to grease the end that goes into the transmission so it goes in easier. very good video

    1:15 In addition to someone stepping on the brake pedal, you can stick a screwdriver in the brake caliber disk.

      Some guys take the ball joint loose. Not necessary. I like your way, better

    Also, use some rope or twine to hold the weight of that hub assembly and rotar. You can easily tear that brake line doing what he did. Better to be safe than adding a couples extra work to the job of you dont have to

    Awesome video but would you usually replace the whole driveshaft when the rubber boot is split?

      Anymore is just easier and really not that much more money to just replace the whole axle instead of just doing new boot, clamp and grease.

    Great video, I just changed my near side shaft with new plus new wishbone and anti roll bar tie rod. All back together but get a horrible knocking sound when driving and hitting bumps. I'm baffled what is wrong, any help appreciated or things to double check.

      Sorry just saw your comment. We’re you able to find out what it was? Sounds like an issue with the suspension. Did you double check the steering knuckle to make sure it’s properly seating in the lower strut and tightened. Also double check you sway bar links.

      @@BLUECOLLARGARAGE thanks for the reply, new sway bar links and still knocking. Will remove the sway link and drive the car see if knocking disappears. Will check tight all bolts. Not touched the suspension but will check. Lost my locking wheel nut key (don't ask) so can't get back the car until next week, all good fun 🙃

    I have to replace my passenger side axle simply because the boot is coming out of the housing on the wheel end.
    Grease is spewing out. There's no external band. The boot is pushed in with a press.
    I'm going with Cardone, too.

    Any chance you have a video of doing the passenger side?

      No sorry I don’t but it should be pretty much same procedure.

      @@BLUECOLLARGARAGE The only real difference is the R side is longer of course and has a carrier bearing in the center of the shaft. Most all new shafts come with a new bearing. The bearing is held on to the car with a bracket that has 2 13mil bolts.

    what a hard way of doing it just take out the bottom ball joint

    • @damon9408
      @damon9408 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, actually it's easier to take off the tie rod. No need to mess with the ball joint. He did it the easiest way

    • @steve0680657
      @steve0680657 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This way is easier! Bottom ball joints are a PITA.

    • @JazzFunkNobby1964

      Agree it's easier to do as you say.
      It's good to have two options though.

      Funny thing is a few weeks ago I ran over a 4x6 that was laying in the middle of the road, no way avoiding it. Bent my passenger front wheel so now I’m trying to find a replacement wheel 😡

      @@BLUECOLLARGARAGE I don't like stressing the boots unnecessarily. Just pointing out what I would consider bad practice. If you see it differently, ok.
