This car will have monster sales. Improves on 4th gen. I have a ‘17 RX and I’m looking to visit my dealer when they arrive next year to upgrade. Rear is my fav, love the redesign.
I love this RX500h, it seems like a complete, integrated package that has been designed to deliver a great mix of everything from looks, luxury, tech, high performance (without going overboard), fuel economy, and of course reliability (the #1 reason to buy a Lexus and perhaps the strongest driver of all Lexus sales). With respect to performance, it may lag the Germans (X3 M40i, SQ5, GLC 43) by a full second or more in 0 - 60, but I strongly believe that most Lexus owners would be driving normally, and they will not often be pushing their cars that hard. In fact, even German car drivers won't be making use of all that power, and it almost seems as if the ever increasing power figures and lower 0 - 60 times are done to satisfy marketing requirements. In other words, this RX500h looks tailored specifically for low end thrust at normal speeds around town, where the majority of driving occurs while at the same time avoiding the unnecessarily complex setups that the Germans have. It sounds like giving Lexus a pass for having an F-Sport Performance vehicle be slower than the competition, but sure, I'll give them passes any day because it means that my car is much more reliable.
I am not sure I understand your statements. You sound like you are saying that it takes less "complex setups than the Germans," to build a fast car and you would be way wrong. The Lexus is as complex if not more so than its competitors. The difference is that Toyota/Lexus employ a much more integrated and better implementation system hence the strong reliability. In other words, they make it look easy. That is why most car companies have a hard time building good reliable cars. Additionally, people seem to lose understanding of what seconds actually mean in these forums. 'Getting off the block' faster is sometimes due to the driver and condition of the road but just because a vehicle gets off a tad faster does not mean that that is sustainable throughout the driving process across the board. Getting from 0-60 in say 6 seconds does not necessarily translate to getting from say 40-60 that same amount of time, with the same competitors. If you have the opportunity to visit a racetrack, you'll see that the car that pulls ahead first does not often translate into the winner. And from a practical standpoint its useless. No need to make any excuses for what you refer to as 'normal speeds'. 5-6-7 seconds is very fast especially for a large SUV.
I'm genuinely curious as to how this new T24A + 6spd auto + Direct4 hybrid drive setup all works together. Hope you can go in depth on this technology once Lexus makes it known Kirk.
What I was hoping for with the direct 4 AWD technology is that there was a prop shaft going from front to back that had the same power split as the gr yaris and an electric motor at the back to increase RWD capability but they have gone a disappointing route and made the rear axle just electric with a gearbox to simulate more speed from the rear motor. The front configuration is just the motor replacing the torque converter before the gearbox.
Loving what Lexus has done with the all-new RX. I particularly like the more elegant-looking non-F Sport model. And the interior has the classic Lexus flair that has been missing in the new NX and LX models. Looking forward to see how this new 500h trim performs :D
Loving this new design luxury for sure. How was the head space?I am same height as you. I found the NX to tight. Shoulder width is not an issue as it is a larger wider vehicle. I am praying Lexus has not taken away any height inside the cabin. Hoping the multiple trim packages will be the same in Canada as in the US. I will most likely be looking at the 350h as the 500h will probably be $$$$. Thanks again for all the great videos and information. Standing by for more.
NEVER thought I'd be excited about an RX, but here I am!!! I've been trying to convince my wife to get rid of the GLE and this my finally be it. Thanks for the review Kirk
Love the redesign! Love the interior it looks luxurious esp. in non-F sport model. Rear looks so premium too. IMO the new grille looks better on models with silver/metallic paint than white.
Thanks for the awesome review! I've been car shopping since 2021 and haven't found a car I HAVE to have..and then this baby popped up! The RX never caught my eye..until NOW! Would love to get in the F-Sport! Hopefully, 🤞, Lexus won't be like other manufacturers and take away luxury features due to shortages! Can't wait to see her in action!
You just gained another Subscriber! Thank you for confirming functional vents (another reviewer said they were faux) and taking time to point out the little things that make it 'cooler' than other SUVs in this class (cupholder sizing, ambient door lighting/window lever, etc.)! LOVE the rear ventilated seats and climate control too! Have looked at several other manufacturers who are not offering this (at least not in the US models). I know everyone has their opinion about the update, but this redesign opened my eyes to the RX! Sweet, sassy and a little badassy! Look forward to seeing test drives! BTW..a couple people have now used Storm Trooper when referring to the new design. Now if I could get it on a license plate! 😎 Thank you for the 'walk' through!
The new rx is a hit .well done lexus .❤. Haters will always complain .rx500H is the best option . .overall only the europeans are better . Beats the acura mdx and gv80. With ease .rx is a big win for lexus .
Haters will always complain and lexus and Toyota have never cared for haters because they've always done their own thing no matter what haters think, this Rx is just beautiful and its just going to be another massive hit for lexus
Agree, except with "only europeans are better". In Romania we have mostly European luxury cars like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Alfa etc. They are money pits (I have had a few, they are indeed gorgeous inside, they have power etc.), the Japanese are far better in reliability, understated luxury and TCO etc.
@@codincoman9019 agreed .rx500H is only 0.3 secs slower to 0.60 compared to the mdx type s and only 0.6 secs slower to 0.60 compared to the gv80. So if 0.3 or 0.6 is like a big difference wow.😆
So I'm very interested in when savegeese gets those 500h. Considering the 350/450h have a totally different hybrid transmission design from the 500h I want to know why the did what they did. Usually they slap a 2 speed auto to give the car more pull from a stop.
Lexus brings another true luxury sport vehicle to market. The market is thick in this segment. But this Lexus will probably lead the brand farther upward and forward.
@Kirk - Fantastic Videos..Many thanks. Probably you might see it better..the new RX looks more of Station Wagon rather than Crossover SUV.
