    I threw a ton of specs about the SS 1le brakes in the description. The SS 1le gets it's own system while the zl1/1le has their own as well as the other models. The SS 1les being the largest. Did anyone know about this? Lol

      That’s not correct. All the variants that get the BCD copper free get all the same components EXCEPT for the different caliper colors. The sizes are all the same.

    Thanks for the video dude :D As for the brakes.. if you have the ZL1 without the copper free brake system you get 390mm front rotors w/6 piston calipers and 365mm rear rotors w/4 piston rear calipers. The SS & 2SS 1LE comes with 370mm front rotors w/6 piston calipers and I think 365mm rear rotors w/4 piston rear calipers. WITH the copper free brakes (RPO BCD) the 1LE cars and the ZL1's get the slightly larger 398mm front rotors (and slightly larger calipers) and the same sized 365mm rear rotors w/4 piston rear calipers. Difference from the ZL1 with regular and with the copper free brakes isn't much and will be about equal when running the copper free pads and maybe some fraction of a foot better stopping with high performance regular pads matched to the larger setup... for the copper free setup over the regular 1LE cars it should be a decent upgrade I'd think for sure especially if someone was to swap out the copper free pads for some higher performance pads matched to the new larger sized rotors/calipers :D
    Also, quoting from the official GM Service Bulletin on the copper brake system: With copper free pads: "In order to maintain the same braking performance, the
    brake components have to grow in size..."

    Cool you talked about the brake system. I personally really don’t care about the little lesser amount of copper in the brakes because I eventually came to think that people and politics overdo with their hype on environmental savings. Not that it’s not important itself and not that I’m against it - it’s just that the topic is overstressed these days and thus some really foolish and logically not comprehensible things start to occur. That’s also why combustion engine cars - even big V8s - are cursed these days but actually arer way more environmental friendly in the end than any e-car. Anyway coming back to the main topic, all that is of interest to me is the fact that these brakes now seem to perform better than before. Just one question left for me here is why you didn’t also change the brake rotors to have them as perforated brake discs? Chevrolet should have installed them from the factory in the beginning in the frist place.

    I had to get rid of my 2SS 1LE.. started having electrical problems at 9k miles… I switched to Lexus. Reliability is better to me than having a loud track car that gets out performed by all other track cars, and still doesn’t last 4 years.

      @Hot-1LE  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All you have to do is replace the pads good man and you have insane brakes. You can't upgrade any of this aftermarket for $500. You will get significantly improved performance with some good aftermarket pads.

    • @Doc236
      @Doc236 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hot-1LE 6 piston brembos in front with a double rotor and an incredible stopping distance is standard on my 2021 SS1LE. The copper free option was not an upgrade per se, it was offered because of California's anti pollution standards. In fact the new copper free option did not perform as well as the original brakes so they had no choice but to increase the size. I feel that as I already have one of the best braking systems on any car why go copper free just to get an inch bigger so it works as well as it did before lol. If it was free yeah maybe...

    • @Hot-1LE
      @Hot-1LE  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It works as before because of the copper content in the pads needs bigger rotor/pad for cooling. If you swap the pad to a normal aftermarket non GM copper pad you have a immense upgrade. I know my buddies have done it and I will too. So that's why we're here talking about it, you can't "go copper free" you either bought it with the car or you didint.

    • @roadracing3
      @roadracing3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, same distance but with more mass comes better heat capacity for the cars that are tracked.
