Will pushing the other two away at the end of Jesus of Suburbia really changes the tone of things. In many other versions, it seems like he is either angry or incredulous about his friends leaving without him, and they seem much more callous. In this version, he actually pushes them away tells them that they're leaving (its not a question "you're leaving?", more of a command "you're leaving!"). such a different dynamic, and a subtle change in interpretation of the same script.
This is such a good version guys. You should be so proud of this. I've seen the American version once and the British version 4 times and yours did not disappoint at all! I thought Will was outstanding, what a fantastic voice! So glad I found this ☺️ xx
Awesome job people! I watched the original dvd version on Netflix "watch instantly" a long time ago and recently got an itch to see it again. I went to Netflix and it is no longer available...So I went to TH-cam and this was closest I could find. What a revelation! You guys ROCK!
@@SaintLoser billie joe armstrong has been working on it with hbo since 2016 although they haven't begun shooting yet. But it's definitely happening! :)
I really really like it, but the autotune is super evident :/ It's a shame bc the singers in this are obviously good at what they do. I think imperfections in vocals make this musical even more real and full of emotion. But again... this is fantastic as a whole
Ohhhh, so it doesn't have anything to do with the mics themselves? Thank you for the information! I always appreciate learning how these things actually work. Some of the vocals seemed odd to me so that's why I pointed it out. Thank you for your response!!
Real time pitch correction is actually a real thing and it does sound like it's being used in a few places, but it is definitely possible to switch between notes in that way without autotune. Just wanted to comment so people don't think that live pitch correction isn't real lol
this is a brilliant version, my only problem with it was Jimmy's "death" and that it doesn't really make it clear that Jimmy is in Johnny's head. that my only issue, could be a license issue as I've seen another company do this and they did the same thing. but, other than that, it was really good! well done!
I've seen a couple different versions of this on youtube, and that seems to be one of the more difficult things to convey. the LA production probably handles Jimmy's "Death" among the best, having Johnny shoot Jimmy instead of having Jimmy shoot Jimmy. It's supposed to be *Johnny* deciding to end his St. Jimmy persona and face his life rather than running away from it constantly. Plus, the LA staging has Jimmy actually die and some of the bystanders sing the "Nobody cares" lines. Unlike the Broadway and Pace versions, where Jimmy's death is treated like a joke, and he's carried off stage singing about how nobody cares. Just hits completely differently.
@@saucytruffle4738 It’s more of a marketing issue as the bands logo is used in promotional logos. There are 3 logos you can use and that’s it. In addition, script flexibility is virtually nonexistent, with this shows opening being a “radical” departure from the “proper” opening, but that’s just for this show, Any other show and it would have been fine. The one exception is anything any everything can change if you ask your mti rep (music theatre international, the licensing company for this show) and by extension the band/author and THEY they give you approval. All details are on mti’s website. This should be accurate but I’m not liable if it’s not.
one major critic i have (i know im 8 years late): in boulevard of broken dreams, will is playing the guitar instead of johnny. i feel like johnny should be the one holding and playing the guitar because that's what attracts whatshername to him and also signifies the whole point of the song.. "broken dreams"
Last of the American Girls/She's a Rebel... Ending with a verse of St. Jimmy. "My name is Jimmy and you better not wear it out, Suicide commando that your momma talked about, King of the forty thieves I'm here to represent, That needle in the vein of the establishment".
My only issue with this production was Jimmy's death, since it was essentially him killing off is alter ego, but it doesnt really make this very clear, other than that it was an amazing production. I still want to see this live one day. maybe when all this virus shit is over someplace near by will have a production of it
I wish there were more punk musicals
Sanvaley it's called a rock opera
Sanvaley like MCR: where are we now. that should be a musical
The Who could've pulled it off pretty well.
Sanvaley Fat Mike of NOFX's Home Street Home is a thing, if punk rock musicals interest you.
Hedwig is the only punk musical.
that Obama rendition of Favourite Son really got me
P I L O S O P A U L yo i base my obama impressions of this, something ppl dont get is bush started the war but obama brought it to more countries,
IT KILLED ME OMG
This Whatsername is UNREAL! I'll be playing Johnny this November in NY! And this Johnny had such a wonderful rawness to his voice. He told the story!
"All Tunny ever does is sleep"
Same Tunny, same
That Trump line in the beginning feels oddly prophetic now.
I missed the Trimp line

the Jesus of Suburbia was so good in this one someone give that money for his voice
So glad I found this... Such a fantastic performance - holy crap. You guys should be so proud.

Although you tuned down, still good!
Rob Wade wait did you was it called broadway idiot cuz if so i thought that was about the making of it cuz if it is the actual play id like to know
This Tunny has the perfect voice for this music, he really nails the vibe.
Am I the only one who thinks they should make the play into a movie?
Roy Sebas lol that’s funny they are
TheRedSpot Really? Where did you hear that?

They've been trying. Stop and go on and off for a few years at this point
They actually canceled it. Check
The wiki
Great production. I especially love Tunny's voice.
I'm gonna play Johnny in the show in March
Carl Trammel how did it go?
One of the best Tunny's I've ever heard
I loved the "Fuck Donald Trump!" at the beginning.
YES.
Max Burger-Roy well he's president now
Max Burger-Roy m
Max Burger-Roy oh vey shut it down
Max Burger-Roy same
How does this have a better mix and singing than the official multicam LA version? Nicely done everybody.
Many live recordings of musicals done at schools on youtube are horrible but this cast is really awesome!
Audience: lets pretend this is a Green Day concert. It's not a musical/opera
Actually it IS a rock opera
The musical is considered an operetta a opera with very little dialogue. But yes it is a rock opera
I gotta say this is one of the best versions of the show I’ve seen. I like a lot of this even more than the Broadway bootleg
This show had ENERGY! I loved it! Singing was great! Dancing was perfect. The set and lighting just complimented it very well.
Amazing spectacle, Amazing music, Amazing job. Billie Joe Armstrong are really genius.
this is my all time favorite production, every one killed it!
also the heather in this production hit the notes in her first solo in a song well
38:38 made me laugh out loud. So unexpected
omg I love it
Highly doubt its the drummer
By far the best version of Letterbomb I’ve seen. Whatshername is GREAT in this

Singsong423 auto tune in the mics? How can you tell?
heidi rios You can hear it obviously during the acoustic part of boulevard of broken dreams.
Liam Huang ok, I think I heard it! Why would they use that???

This was amazing! This version is definitely the best on youtube. Nice job everyone!!!
Wait till you see the Broadway recording. Unfortunately it doesn't have Billie Joe as St Jimmy 😔. Still good though
The time of your life addition at the end is amazing I love it
Such a good production! Especially for a University
these guys did an awesome job! it was great to see a full version of the show!

Licensing for this show is the stuff of directors nightmares and the most restrictive terms in MTI’s entire catalog.
@@alachuckthebuck really? As in they allow very little creative reinterpreting?

This was amazing, thank you for letting us all watch it :)
Singing is good, acting is good, but removing the guitars makes Wake Me Up When September Ends seem emotionless.
I half agree, but ive also seen a lot of productions where people for some reason hella struggle with this song
The fact that Jonny sings "I started running as soon my feet touched ground" to Tunny is has me dead
the sound design for this is top notch!
I gotta be honest this is one of my favorite saint jimmy’s of all time
started crying within the first 2 minutes because i love green day so much
im normal
That “Are we the Waiting” was god damn powerful
if only I had friends to re-create the musical lmao
This is perfect! :D Thank you for letting me witness this :D
who played Johnny? He was phenomenal!
This one is surprisingly good and enjoyable
Thank you for posting this. This is AMAZING
St. Jimmy is killin it!!!
Wow! I'm only 30 minutes in and you guys have nailed it!!!
The vocals are fuckin amazing
This is 1000% better then the Los Angeles professional theatre production! Great job!
I LOVE IT 4년동안 보고 있습니다
HEATHER GAVE ME CHILLS
oh my god...
St jimmy's voice in this is godly.
my fav. ever.
well, except for the one with billie joe
Fantastic performance. I absolutely loved it 🥰💞
girl playing whatshername is really good
i didn't think live singing could sound do auto tuned 1:10:11
3:40 the guy TWERKING OH MY GOSh
okay, this is crazy, but the radio at the very very beginning (it's like a second long) appears in Bo Burnham's "RANT". Seriously. go check.
Sam Gotter oh yeah! It is-
They're such good singers, but the auto tune is really heavy and really obvious here
But you can see Billie up on one of those metal things waiting to say MY NAME IS JIMMY
I thought maybe it was just me, but yeah. AT is heavy.
@yo12299 That's not slight reverb. That's heavy pitch correction. Absolutely live auto tune.
1:38 is where the music starts.
Extraordinary Girl's voice is absolutely UNREAL
When will it tour in us again
someone has the script becuse i want it to my theatre claas i want to preform this musical
I love it! Thank you for this.
Who is tunney? He has a great voice!
Chris Lum Connor Antico is Tunney
I can so imagine Adam Lambert as St.Jimmy or Johnny… #adamlambert
Just wow this was amazing guys. Well done
This is great! Any chance you could post an HD version to watch on the TV?
Are the musicals at Pace University opened to majors other than Musical Theatre and Acting?
im in love with this
I literally watched the whole thing
19:37 Dear Will, I wrote you but you still ain't callin'
do they have like some kind of auto tune on their mics
At first i wasnt sure but i like this alot
Does anyone know the cast?
Why did they use autotune in some songs?
52:10 WOW
I loved the show but what the heck was up with 'favorite son.'

"My name is Jimmy and you better not wear it out,
Suicide commando that your momma talked about,
King of the forty thieves I'm here to represent,
That needle in the vein of the establishment".
Trying not to cry atm
What's with the auto tune
Disappointing.
cole brinker there's no possible way to do auto tune on a live performance smart one
thats not true lol. It is very much possible. Any professional live soundboard has an autotune effect.
................
Uhm..............
It's possible.
And they're using it.
That's not theatrical reverb.
@@andreahernandez575 no. it is and you can tell.
when was this recorded... Again great job!!!
Question are they using auto tune. I hear something wierd in beginning of 21 guns
Holy fuck, Whatshername in this one is well over every single other one... Jesus... I’m stunned

She's a Rebel + Last of the American Girls=¿ :v ?
it's the way they did it one the original soundtrack check spotify
I liked it, but the first time hearing this version made me sad that She's A Rebel wasn't gonna get a full spot
some of those guitars have terrible tone
Wow! It's a great show!
this is amazing
seriously, this is wonderful. It almost made me cry on "give me novacain".
Why does the actor playing Tunny have a better voice than the one playing Johnny?
jdlc9215 Tunny always has a better voice than Johnny in all productions, it’s weird.
Dat beginning though!!!
I'm just here because I saw it on my musical wallpaper
Petition to call punk musicals "Emusicals"
It sounds like they are using auto tune at some points which detracts to the greatness of the performance but i sill really enjoyed it
crazybex6156 do you remember what parts you heard auto tune? I'm interested in trying to hear it
heidi rios in most of it if I'm honest. It was still good though
Does anyone know what the song is around 46 minutes in?
It's called "Too Much Too Soon".
Why does jesus reminds me of jesse pinkman?
wait is this favourite son meant to be a caricature of obama?
I think so
