La Trochita - The Old Patagonian Express - Day Six - Wednesday, 28 August 2019

The sixth day of our adventure sees us head north from Esquel on a day trip to La Cancha. It's not far by distance but, with all the photostops along the way, it was after sunset by the time we reached our destination. It's day's like this that make memories that will last a lifetime! The day started somewhat overcast, however, the clouds cleared for a lovely sunny morning. A gentle breeze turns into a gale and the train has trouble keeping up with the smoke! Despite the sunshine it was bitterly cold and more than one bottle of red was consumed before lunch. Well known for holding my drink (!) make sure you watch the bonus footage after the closing credits! It's rather silly and pointless, but it does accurately depict the sense of joy and fun of a bunch of mature age men acting like teenage "gunzels", "gricers" or "foamers" or feel free to insert your local term for nutty railfans! Can life get any better than this?
