Argentinien - Patagonia Express - German • Great Railways

Die 750mm-spurige Esquel Bahn in Südargentinien ist nicht nur die südlichste Personenzugstrecke ganz Amerikas, sondern bis in den 90er Jahren ausschließlich Dampfbetrieben. Fast das ganze Jahr lang fuhr der gemischte Personen- und Güterzug mit siebzig Jahre alte Lokomotiven nur einmal in der Woche.
Pannen sind nicht selten auf dieser altersschwachen Bahn. Wir sehen wie einer doppelbespannte Planzug einen entgleisten Sonderzug wieder flottmacht und mit drei Lokomotiven weiterfährt. Das Programm enthalt atemberaubende Bilder der Züge in der rauhen Berglandschaft und scharfe Nahaufnahmen vom Triebwerk in voller Fahrt. Drei Loktypen, sind zu sehen, alle mit Baujahr 1922: eine 1’D 1’ Schlepptenderlok und C Tenderlok von Henschel sowie eine 1’D 1’ Schlepptenderlok von Baldwin, USA.

The location recording of this film was from 3rd to 6th December 1991. An English language version will be available in 2024. The railway has been closed to public service traffic for some years but tourist excursions on limited sections operate from time to time.
