This is a super useful option for doing digital visuals at festivals. I usually have to bring two systems, one for lights/lasers and one for projections, being able to bring a single box that fits in a pelican case and run both is well worth the trade offs for me!

Slot screwdriver heads are for applications where the head might get covered by paint or oil etc. Since it goes from one end to the other it makes it easy to remove any debris that maybe get lodged in it.
Or... it is just because it was easier to manufacture back in the day? Ya know, cutting/Filing a slot in a screw head is a lot easier than making a Philips or Torx.
Actually slotted screws are great and used a lot in boat building because when you need to remove something after years of use and you have to take out a bung and clean out glue or putty or rust from the head of the screw it’s easy to clean out and get your screwdriver in. Philips are the worst screw, they were actually designed so the screwdriver would pop out of the screw out so they weren’t over torqued in manufacturing which isn’t necessary any more with modern powered screwdrivers, but because of their ubiquity they’ve stayed popular despite torx, Robertson and other screw types being clearly superior.

This is acutally a fantastic guide. My realworld use case (as a professional video editor) would be for travel. When we fly two editors out to edit event recaps. What a huge space saver! probably takes up the same space (almost) as two mac studios but more powerful.
