I grew up in a small town with little skateboarding info/scene/whatever.....I lived on skate magazines for most of my info and dreams. Thrashin' came out and I watched it on VHS literally EVERY day after school before going outside to skate. This movie meant so much to me.
Exact same story here . I lived through this movie in a way. I rewatched it couple years ago and went out at 40 and bought a new skateboard and started skating again 🤷♂️
I could recite every word to this movie growing up. That’s how many times I watched it. Probably still can. Man when I was a kid I had to read skateboarding or skateboarder I can’t recall exact name at the school library. Using the Dewey decimal system 😂 reading about Zephyr boys skating full pipes 🤯 goodtimes
Great movie , I was 13-14 think, when this movie came out, loved riding my Hosoi hammerhead all through the streets of the big SFV. Bought my board at Val surf . So many memories. Great channel bro.
90s kid here. Trashin' is why everyone in my generation started skating. This movie did for skateboarding what Top Gun did for aviation, maybe more. Loving this content, subscribed!
This is amazing, exactly what I was looking for. I grew up skating in the early 90s and we would rent Thrashin' nearly every weekend from the local video store, and just about wore out that VHS tape. My friends and I used to quote from the film extensively, too. Thanks so much!
Wow, thanks so much. I'm really glad you liked it. I understand, that was my childhood as well. And my friends and I still quote it. Thanks so much for watching. I really appreciate it.
@@80sLife At age 43 I'm about to build a little halfpipe to relive my youth and you'd better believe it's going to be finished off with the RAMP LOCALS tag! Maybe some other tags too...JAKS, V13, Flow or Go Home, etc. :) Thanks again, these two videos were so great and it's awesome that you got to chat with Eddie Rategui!
Same here. Exactly the same. Around 88-90 we would rent this movie every weekend. I actually made a perfect Corey Webster spiders skulls and bones replica skateboard. Came out perfect. Even used a Jeff Gross deck. Painted it white. Did the graphics. Perfect. I’m 42 now. Southside of Chicago. Still think of this movie every single day.
happiest days of my life skating in late 80 s this movie was my life back then. restarted skating at 45 call it mid life crisis but i swear its the best thing i ever done since 1992
This is great! Thank you for taking the time to put this together. Texas is home but Thrashin' always made me feel like it would have been pretty cool growing up in CA too.

Dude you made an amazing video!! This covers so much of what I’ve wanted to see with the locations and knowledge about the movie. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS!! SINCERELY!!
Super awesome! You really nailed it with so many of my favorite 80's movies! I love Thrashin! DAGGERS!!!!! Lol. Watched it a thousand times. So cool to see these places nowadays as I've never been to Los Angeles. And to finish it off with an interview with Eddie Reategui! Wow! Coolest video I've watched in a long time. I always thought the Ramp Locals were too hard on Bozey. Trashing his car and pulling his pants down in front of the women and all that. There's a funny scene towards the end before the downhill race where Eddie Reategui and Christian Hosoi are blowing gently on Bozey and he's repeatedly wiping it off his face. Most people don't notice this part. Funny! I've got the DVD and it's so worth it with the movie commentary! It's the best commentary in a movie there has ever been and is absolutely hilarious!
Thanks for doing this video and putting in time to find the locations. Back in time when skating was illegal in Norway and we had to smuggle in boards from abroad and find skating locations, this movie was spinning on the VHS player all the time. Great movie -- great era -- miss it a lot.
I saw this movie in 1988/89 when i was 10 with other Kids of the neighborhood in a bar under my house, when the movie ends all of us took the skate and ride all the time, great film, great memories, greetings from spain

Awesome job on the locations. Honestly makes me a little sad because not just locations but the world has changed so much. I wish my young daughters could have been around in late 80’s

Man! Cool that Eddie participated. Thrashin was for sure an excellent skateboarding movie. I was a skate Betty. Yes I had a skateboard however, not too many bad ass tricks. 🛹 I believe Gleaming the cube came out a few years later. Look forward to that filming location. I feel Thrashin had more of an authentic skating vibe to it. 🔥😎💕 - Memories.

It has subsequently been removed digitally, unfortunately, but it was in the VHS release. You could also see it when Hook and Monk were crouched in the bushes before the chase scene. I'd seen Animal Chin and got hooked, ate up everything I could find, but I didn't have Animal Chin. I also loved how cheesy it was; it was directed by David Winters, who also made Space Mutiny of MST3K fame.
