    Love this movie, makes me sad though. I was skating in the 80’s and grew up in LA and so many places and friends are just gone forever. Heroes. I have to watch this movie to see everything again. Thank you for doing this. To some of us it means a lot. To some of us it was our home and our life. Just an old lost punk rock soul. I hope we all go back. The 80’s was the best time.

    Wow, thanks a lot for making these great videos. I have been a fan of Thrashin' since I first rented it on VHS back in 1987. In Norway skateboarding was illegal at the time and this video was the only video I had. I have watched it hundreds of times after being able to make my own copy. I have been to Los Angeles with my kids a few times and we have visited some of the locations, like The Bronson Canyon "halfpipe", the Venice Beach locations and we even had breakfast at Maxwell's. We were very lucky because the only table available when we came in was the exact same one where Chrissy and Corey sat! Hope to get back to LA after the pandemic to visit all the places we haven't been to. Thanks again, keep up the good work!

    You ask eddie about why a backflip was in the movie. Eddie doesnt really know somehow. The answer is stacy peralta just replicated the push to backflip directly from The bones brigade video show from 84'. A lot of the hollywood and venice skate scenes were direct copies of scenes from bones brigade video show. Now beat it ya val jerk! 😬🖤😄

    🛹💫🎨MONDO BECK
    🔪🩸DAGGER FOR LIFE🔪🩸
    RIP 2/4/21
    58 yrs young
    MONDO knew Eddie but, MONDO was one of the older skaters he mentioned that were REAL RADICAL SKATERS. MONDO was from New Jersey and AIRBRUSH KING for Tony Alva.
    MONDO is the Dagger with red and then black converse. He was the skater with the tshirt hanging out of his pocket in the night time chase scene. MONDO was ALWAYS pushing it when he skated and him going over the parking garage wall was definitely easy for him to do.

    Funny story. So back in the day there were actual skate gangs as portrayed in this movie. So growing up in a little neighborhood on the southside of Chicago there were neighborhood skate factions. One kid would stop skating with these kids then link of to the other kids and so on and so on. If you were a part of “the curbdogs” you couldn’t skate the quarter pipe built by the “sk8 boys” or couldn’t skate behind this school etc..
    So when there was beef it was settled by JOUST as seen in Thrashin and Nintendo’s skate or die game.
    We had a cut off piece of broom stick with a rope duct taped to a tennis ball with more duct tape over that to make it about the size of a soft ball. Crude but it worked. So we knew of an alley that had decent hips up to the garages so the car can pull in and out. That was our “Bronson canyon half pipe” and we would joust. No face hits and first to 5 points wins. Literally beefs were squashed right then and there. We were all like... 12 circa 1987-1990.
    I’m 42 now. Ironically a couple guys from then my age or a little older recently got back into skating again. It’s amazing.

    • @80sLife
      @80sLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha. That's amazing. We didn't have that around here, at least not that I'm aware of. Sounds like it's time for you to join a Sk8 gang again

    This movie caused a certain 8 year old boy to think he could skate as good as The Daggers,so after school was out one day he took his skateboard out of his backpack and started going down a set of hills in his neighborhood everyone called "Roller Coaster Hill", well he was doing fine until he got hit head on by a woman in a Monte Carlo, fortunately she wasn't going that fast coming up the hill,but the boy still suffered a compound fractured tibia in his left leg,broken femur, 2 broke ribs and a punctured lung, but he survived.. That boy is me, I'm now 42 and still skate,but am more careful now because I have 2 kids and they skate as well, But I make sure they stay away from "Roller Coaster Hill" ...
