It’s wild. Despite growing up in all of the 80’s and 90’s, I have absolutely NO recollection of this movie at all. But for some reason, I still find this utterly interesting.
Brought back a few memories. I use to live less than a mile and a half away from there through most of the 80's (till '87, actually). From my own recollection, Aviation High was defunct for decades. I believe it was already closed when they made the movie. One of my closest friends back then got on as an extra on Tuff Turf and got paid $20 a day for a few days....she was on the movie itself for about a milisecond. Lol.
Wow another brilliant Location video. I noticed Art Evans the guy playing the security guard I remember when I lived in San bernardino in 87 his brother owned a video store on highland Ave he had pictures of Art all over the store he was a Nice guy.
CHIPS was filmed at that old high school in 1981 or 82, when Ponch and Bobby were riding together. Bobby’s brother Bruce was a CHP Cadet when they sent him undercover to expose drug sales, illegal betting and even car stripping in the auto shop class. The show also filmed down the street at the former Malibu Castle, former Boomers Arcade at the West End of the Metro Green Line Station in 25:15 Redondo Beach. Right up the street from that Station is where the TRW and Matel Buildings were located. Danny Bonaduce played a student named Myron Finkenbaum, one of the students at that high school. I used to ride the Metro Green Line from Norwalk to the end of the line in what I believe is Lawndale, not Redondo Beach.

I remember them filming the scenes in Highland Park as I would travel through there frequently. The only reason I went to see this movie in the theater was because it had Kim Richards in it.

The incredibly intense Paul Mones-later writer of two Van Damme hits - THE QUEST and DOUBLE TEAM- hits and direcror of two very good drama starring an unusually unammnered Jeff Goldblum -FATHERS AND SONS- among other films, steals the scenes as the leading bad guy, ´Nick´. As expected, a very good Location video by the 80s Life crew.

Kim Richards was my first crush going back to being very little when she was on Nanny And The Professor. But if there is 1 thing that filming locations then and now has taught me, and even with Google street view is don't open a business, it probably won't be around very long.

Did you know Kurt than the very first scenes with Morgan on his bicycle in night, those scenes were filmed after the movie was shot entirely ! Fritz Kiersch the director who said that in the special features. Yeah, i'm a little disappointed about that... But what a good movie anyway ! And when they shot in 1984, there's the Olympics in L.A. So i guess they didn't allowed to shot where they want, because of the blocked roads about that. Olivia Barash (Ronnie) said in an interview than herself, James and Robert Downey Jr slept at the Chateau Beaumont every night. And at every 3 am, it was knocking at the front door. They heard than the place was haunted. Special.
The locations don’t looks grimy anymore where is the graffiti? 🙃😎 everything change almost completely, except Frankie’s house. in the 80s everything was something like more shining i guess 😎

I been living in north Hollywood all my life and know my childhood locations. the part where Morgan is waiting for the bus stop is where sears tire center was which is now a middle school and the Jack In the box scene in the movie is also in north Hollywood less than a mile from the burgers scene. I also had the privilege to eat at the burger spot when it was up and running. When I have time I’ll show exactly with the correct scene filmed in my city of North Hollywood
