mike glover has done podcasts with andy stumpf and mike ritland. both are great watches as well. they cover some of the same and different things and things in more details and in different conversations. andy's podcast is cleared hot and mikes is mike drop. both are on youtube. highly recommend both podcasts. especially the episodes with mike glover. andy has done several podcasts with mike and all of them are great watches.

Mike came and talked to my unit before we deployed. He was completely professional and took time to talk to any Soldier who had a question and graciously allowed us to absorb some of the vast knowledge and experience he has. I learned a lot in the short time he was able to work with us. I’ve been waiting for this podcast and I’m glad he was finally on.

Damn 1:37:08 Mike and Jocko already foresaw some of the Afghans who were trained to combat the enemy were either gonna be killed or join the Taliban to survive due to the U.S. pulling out. 6 months from the date this video posted if not sooner they said and look what happened.

Two men that stand 10’ tall! I love these long form interviews! I’ve never had an inside look into the mindset of a warrior until Jocko and others started doing them. Our country is truly blessed to have people that run towards the fight in order to allow the rest of us to have the ability to pursue happiness instead of mere survival. I have a son in prep for Selection (18D) and he’s cut from the same cloth as these warriors. Now I’m getting to know my son better than ever because I’m getting a feel for what makes him really tick like never before!
@@rtk90083 he got to the PT test prior to Selection and was a little slow on a run so he could try Selection. The wisdom he was given was to make the Army a journey of doing a lot of different things on his way to his goal and he saw that too. So he was placed in 82nd Airborne and Ranger School is next. He’s made Sergeant and prior to the Army he was already an experienced paramedic and somewhere he’ll get some assignment where he can go to a medic school. He really enjoys the Army.

Jocko, you are an inspiration or even define the word in a way. I served in the US Navy from 1990 to 1995 and was a Craft Mech on the LCAC out of Camp Pendleton. I worked with the Force Recon and Seal Teams throughout my career. I always like those guys because they made me feel like I was part of something big and important and our focus is paramount. Being in the amphib Navy I obviously served with many Marine types as well. It is the soldiers like the special forces and even basic Marines that make us Squids motivated. It is people like you and your pods that make me feel safe that we are still the top military in the world. It has never been the tech for me. It is the type of people that are serving that show me we are above the rest. Our military men and women are the best and it is not only because of our beliefs on how to engage the enemy but also because of the way we all care for each other. I heard a story on Boardwalk Empire where a guy is offered to visit Heaven and Hell. He goes to hell first and he see everyone seated at an endless top notch restaurant where all the food is there on the table for them. They can't eat it though because the spoons are too long for them to put the food in their mouth. Then he goes to Heaven and everything is the same with all the awesome food and everyone had the long spoons but they were all feeding each other so they were all content. This is how I compare our military to others. We work together for the good of everyone even our enemy.
You guys are the American dream. I work in construction making 60$ an hour union in Washington state, and I CANT AFFORD THE DREAM!!!!!!! I can’t buy a house, granted I started at 30 and I’m 31 now, but still what the heck. I cannot afford a home at over 60$ an hour. Let that sink in.

There would have been no good transition plans, none. We're not handing France or the Netherlands back over to them after a German occupation. These countries are and will be a total disaster in our, the West's, context. To them it makes total sense.
If it wasn’t for me carrying a gas station pocket knife, me and my family couldn’t have saved a family after they crashed.. The father was being hung by his seatbelt me and my brother carried the kids out as my stepdad carried the mother and father. My mom never yelled at me again for having a weapon underaged
I love how jocko talks about jui jitsu is a way of thinking. And how that helped him think about problems in a new way. I get the same from rock climbing and its awesome to have a side passion that applies to every aspect of life.

Agree with you 100%. I also had ponderings of these are the type of men that we need running the show. They're very intelligent, logical, tried and true and could rationalize all that goes into running things. This world could benefit from having a room full of SF guys running the show. I'd also like to think there'd be a whole lot less conflict and that's solely due them having been in it and gone through it.
Very True , the people serving in Afghanistan had the best intentions and most were very good people , unfortunately the Government they were fighting for were Godless Opressors and Tyrants and spread injustice in the name of God and Justice . Gotta thank you for this podcast. Was in the middle of a hard run workout last night and I was in my head about how many miles were left. I remembered Mike Glover's words about just focusing on whats in front of you and that got me through. "Left foot, right foot...."
In and around 1970, i visited the Tomb of the unknown soldier in DC with the Boy Scouts. I'll never forget the guard was named SGT Moffit. The good SGT said "do not come onto the other side (his side) of the barrier separating the public from him , the walkway, and Tomb. A little kid, about 5-6 years old, lifted the barrier (like at a movie theater) and went under and on to the guard walk matt. SGT Moffit yells "HALT, HALT" then points his rifle with bayonet (a long one) into the face of this little kid. The kid was frozen in time with her mouth wide open. Then the good SGT yells something like, remove yourself to the public side of the barrier. The kid couldn't move, so one of the parents reached over and extracted the shocked little kid. The entire crowd was in silent shock, then SGT Moffitt went back to the routine like nothing happened. It was one of the craziest things ive seen. The kid is probably still in therapy.

I love how echo is quiet the whole time but when the claustrophobia stuff comes he's like "excuse me I have some questions."
Mike came and talked to my unit before we deployed. He was completely professional and took time to talk to any Soldier who had a question and graciously allowed us to absorb some of the vast knowledge and experience he has. I learned a lot in the short time he was able to work with us. I’ve been waiting for this podcast and I’m glad he was finally on.

Two men that stand 10’ tall! I love these long form interviews! I’ve never had an inside look into the mindset of a warrior until Jocko and others started doing them. Our country is truly blessed to have people that run towards the fight in order to allow the rest of us to have the ability to pursue happiness instead of mere survival.
I have a son in prep for Selection (18D) and he’s cut from the same cloth as these warriors. Now I’m getting to know my son better than ever because I’m getting a feel for what makes him really tick like never before!

@@rtk90083 he got to the PT test prior to Selection and was a little slow on a run so he could try Selection. The wisdom he was given was to make the Army a journey of doing a lot of different things on his way to his goal and he saw that too. So he was placed in 82nd Airborne and Ranger School is next. He’s made Sergeant and prior to the Army he was already an experienced paramedic and somewhere he’ll get some assignment where he can go to a medic school. He really enjoys the Army.

Jocko, you are an inspiration or even define the word in a way. I served in the US Navy from 1990 to 1995 and was a Craft Mech on the LCAC out of Camp Pendleton. I worked with the Force Recon and Seal Teams throughout my career. I always like those guys because they made me feel like I was part of something big and important and our focus is paramount. Being in the amphib Navy I obviously served with many Marine types as well. It is the soldiers like the special forces and even basic Marines that make us Squids motivated. It is people like you and your pods that make me feel safe that we are still the top military in the world. It has never been the tech for me. It is the type of people that are serving that show me we are above the rest. Our military men and women are the best and it is not only because of our beliefs on how to engage the enemy but also because of the way we all care for each other. I heard a story on Boardwalk Empire where a guy is offered to visit Heaven and Hell. He goes to hell first and he see everyone seated at an endless top notch restaurant where all the food is there on the table for them. They can't eat it though because the spoons are too long for them to put the food in their mouth. Then he goes to Heaven and everything is the same with all the awesome food and everyone had the long spoons but they were all feeding each other so they were all content. This is how I compare our military to others. We work together for the good of everyone even our enemy.

I love how jocko talks about jui jitsu is a way of thinking. And how that helped him think about problems in a new way. I get the same from rock climbing and its awesome to have a side passion that applies to every aspect of life.

Agree with you 100%. I also had ponderings of these are the type of men that we need running the show. They're very intelligent, logical, tried and true and could rationalize all that goes into running things. This world could benefit from having a room full of SF guys running the show. I'd also like to think there'd be a whole lot less conflict and that's solely due them having been in it and gone through it.

Gotta thank you for this podcast. Was in the middle of a hard run workout last night and I was in my head about how many miles were left. I remembered Mike Glover's words about just focusing on whats in front of you and that got me through. "Left foot, right foot...."

In and around 1970, i visited the Tomb of the unknown soldier in DC with the Boy Scouts.
I'll never forget the guard was named SGT Moffit. The good SGT said "do not come onto the other side (his side) of the barrier separating the public from him , the walkway, and Tomb. A little kid, about 5-6 years old, lifted the barrier (like at a movie theater) and went under and on to the guard walk matt. SGT Moffit yells "HALT, HALT" then points his rifle with bayonet (a long one) into the face of this little kid. The kid was frozen in time with her mouth wide open. Then the good SGT yells something like, remove yourself to the public side of the barrier. The kid couldn't move, so one of the parents reached over and extracted the shocked little kid.
The entire crowd was in silent shock, then SGT Moffitt went back to the routine like nothing happened. It was one of the craziest things ive seen. The kid is probably still in therapy.
And that my friends, is why you dont take kids everywhere haha. Thanks for sharing.. 53 years ago. Kind of crazy to think about, then again I’m 18 so anything is crazy to think about HA.
A Group guy rented the house across the street from us years back and would have his guys over for drinks. Damn the stories those dudes told.....if anyone of you guys see this, thanks for the tale of the Inside/Outside Man! ....and Pink Sand Guy.
