One of my favorite guest on the Cleared Hot podcast thus far. The way you describe some of the issues faced by soldiers returning to civilian life was a new aspect I feel like very few people have ever considered, and fewer have spoken about on a podcast. I really want to go on the record to say thank you so much for speaking so openly. You seem like a genuinely decent person and you come off as authentic, what you see is what you get. You got a shout out from Bryan Callen on the latest episode of The Fighter And The Kid which is what led me here. Even a broken clock is right twice a day so it was almost suprising to get a solid recommendation from Byron Cullen to come check this episode out. His hobby and his obsession is surrounding himself with formidable men so he knows what he's talking about when it comes to recommending podcast with interesting guests.
      Thanks.

I agree with that statement brother. I am a dumbass however and I like a good challenge. Adversity makes me feel alive. I think that's a good mindset for people like me who in a sense became an adult in the Infantry. Not saying I didn't struggle, of course I did. But eventually you will see that problem as another dragon to slay in the epic know as every human's life.

@@goatsawar02 It's because of what brainwashing did to the civilian population of Okinawa and the Japanese Army. Our creed pretty much makes us take the moral high ground. Hard to take the moral high ground when you're forced to gun down stubborn resistance that could have been avoided by surrendering. I cannot say I know what those guys when through but I can definitely understand. We always had to consider civilians in our planning. It's been in our doctrine for so long I can't even imagine the US army without it, after all weren't we formed because of the British abusing American colonists? Of soldiers forcing civilians to house them? For soldiers or marines to be forced to count civilians as enemy combatants? Or surrendered combatants to suddenly suicide? That is not simple. That is one of the challenges that you read about. That very specific instance that is hard to define or understand. Especially an organization that people usually surrender to instead of dying to the last woman and children.

I get ya. I understand. This is however, the first time, I've had to turn of one of these podcasts.
The trauma he's been through and caused, is evident. And it's scary. It's actually very scary. It reminds me of interviews with serial killers. I'm beyond, shocked and this isn't my first video/experience with people that have been on both sides.
I've also looked at his social media, and it's absolutely terrifying, his lack of understanding of threat intelligence.
Ex1. He thinks Antifa is an organisation, it's not, 100% per, all intelligence agencies, common sense.
What does Antifa stand for, the acronym; Against Fascism. Didn't we fight the Germans because they were fascists? Yet, when you read his opinions, you'd think they were the next Jason Bournes.
From his political views, it's obvious, he watches non journalists, propaganda puppets, like Hennety (or whatever his name is). He's not even a real journalist.
      Why not?
If you do a consensus, around the world, of multiple news stations, people who went to college, they'll all say, how full of crap, guys like Hennety (who shares the same lawyer as trump), even if you just use your own common sense, and watch these lads on Fox, then look at other news stations, global as well. It's so apparent.
Recently, a right wing terrorist and current military, as part of the right wing terror group, called the 'Boogaloos' shot and killed two police officers.
AFAIK, Glover, hasn't said a word about that. Yet, he's fixated, about this myth of Antifa groups coming and doing XYZ.
It's such an asymmetrical fear vector that it genuinely, boggles my mind.
Then when they spoke about the convicted, war criminal, in a Military court of law, a former SEAl, who's own team , said ' nah, this is fucking no bueno' follows the oath they took, and report him, he gets convicted. Then Trump. who himself, made excuses to dodge the draft multiple times (bone spurs and I wonder who had to go in his place, did they make it back?), Trump, who can't even respect the Bugle Retreat call (www.stripes.com/news/us/trump-continued-to-talk-while-retreat-bugle-call-played-1.492297) , continued to sit, and crack jokes about 'oh, is that for me?'
Even as a kid, growing up on base, my entire family would stop what we were doing, my dad would stop the car, get out, and salute towards the flag, while my brothers and I sat in silence, out of respect. As kids, we had more of modicum of decorum than the President of the United States, D. Trump? Imagine if Obama had done that.
To quote Abraham Lincoln: From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia...could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.”
The first symptoms of that, is when our tip of the spear, speaking like this.
United We Stand and Divided We Fall.
      Get with the program.

@@victorblaer wow. It's fascinating that this content is interesting to you, so it's sorta common ground, but I completely disagree with your views and criticism and, I presume to say, your ideology. It's a worldview thing that can't be fixed by examining data points. We attach completely different significance based on worldview. There's a near infinite number a things to call data but what makes them significant or influences emotional response or action are so different. Forgive me that I default to just not engage when I see how skewed our perspectuves are. Just had to raise an eyebrow to see a fair and thoughtful comment from modern educated person left of the normative audience. Stay, and engage in debate and conversation, it's good for us as a people and nation though I have no desire to fuel today's ideological tribalism.

@@victorblaer so trying to brainwash and force your way of life on others is anti fascist? I think your confused. ANTIFA IS FASCIST! Antifa wants to to take away freedom of speech(you can't have thought, opinions or expression that is not what they believe) take away freedom to self-defense and they want to control and tell you how to live your life . "Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy which came to prominence in early 20th-century Europe."

The most articulate explanation of PTSD and the impact of the cumulative nature of it experience by the military. Wish there was a better process for transitioning back to civilian life. There is a need for the continuation of a compelling mission in day to day life, and a reimagining of some of the structures of military life that can be applied to civilian life, (Mike mentioned this idea). The honesty about how alive and engaged they felt in the adrenaline soaked days of war makes it easy to understand how tough it would be to feel "activated" in the mundanity of day to day civilian life. There is much more that could and should be done to make the transitions smoother, more comprehensive, and less stressful for service members and their families.

hola Dennis, my name's Dennis (and yep I got the full blond/blue "The Menace" thing I had to endure for the last 38 f....ing years lmao!!) but I really can attest to what you're putting down here. I, personally, am "humbled" by you LEO/FLEA folks because as a fellow civilian that had only a handful of DFEs in my lifetime (working as an IC at a priv sec firm that was contracted out to TITAN/L-3 in my home region of San Diego's border area) and we did those mobile PSD runs back and forth from Ensenada, La Paz, etc, and had DTOs take shots at our Yukons like it had replaced soccer as the indigenous national pastime lol. And these guys 👆🏻 (i.e numerous fmr Unit/"Green" guys, fmr NSW frog dogs, and even several FBI HRT instructors) and their dialogue here--as it affected you? it affected me as well--and I'm not a DoD veteran nor LE aff'd. I was just a bilingual druggie that knew a bunch of people since childhood who'd returned from OIF1/2 and DIDN'T want to do the PMC thing, nor LE, so the middle ground in '06 was TITAN's offshoot called RATTLR (Rapid Asymmetric Tactics, Training & Lead Response team...sigh...sexy sounding, lame as hell in reality)..yet, after the Abu Grab scandal that all but ruined the "contracting personnel" side of the TITAN conglomerate?
*They felt that their San Diego HQ was sufficient to stand up a new offshoot called RATTLR that would offer "fwd leaning/aggressive PSD for municipal officials on behalf of Mexico's Ministry of Justice etc blah blah blah" and boom...a bunch of Glovers, Stumpfs, and other monstrous operators are in DFEs mere minutes from home for me...AND always guys that almost all have already gotten Dari, even some w/Pashtu or Arabic, but NO ONE with Spanish but this guy (and being a surf loser, I was born bilingual)*..so SMUrfs in Yukons in 2006 rolled around like something out of Sicario, but then you add a few worthless-as-d!ck civlian 'terps/trunk monkeys like myself...w/nothing but a DPMS 14.5" carbine, a K can (the only cool or "tacticool" thing I found remotely sexy about doing a job that *YOU guys in the LE world do on a daily basis and yet come back for more. I mean, I was thrown into several L shape whacko scraps throughout their "AOR" and along w/my quasi decent ability to not shoot my own kneecaps off, as my crappy made plate within my awkward sized IBA kept my boreline right above those aforementioned dumbass knees as I held my primary out the back! Yeah!! So...You LE have it so much worse, and so much more of our respect imho, for putting up w/ambushes etc all the time...I mean me? Sh!t, even w/MAYBE half a dozen DFEs I was involved in? If I hadn't been cert'd, I would've been in the fetal like the wuss I am, and not putting anything downrange as I surprisingly did (well, 4 out of 6 times I did...the others ended as soon as they began) but you guys? Getting ambushed by assailants IN YOUR CAR while ITS PARKED? We had a lot of speed in the Yukons the NSW guys decked out for us...But I've seen horrific stuff while doing volunteer first responder work where I live now during thes riots...and the LE guys were the ones I was doing most of my work on....So my experiences during the "Privatized Security gold rush" of the 2000s, and all I needed to go work w/my childhood friends who were true warriors in their respective SOF communities? was a 7 month PSC tactical certification and the completion of a handful of other courses (medical etc) that paid not so much, and nearly killed me and I was even launched from the Yukon I was in and without head protection, skipped off the deck a bunch (at 35 to 55 mph) and didn't die unfortunately. So I just babble now like a stroke **victim.so.**..yeah...my dumbass made zero sense being involved in that line of work that you have the courage to do, and you'll think I'm full of it, but we even got read in about local AFI saying that "there are Venezuelans now too"...so, yeah, this never made any papers (or at least here) but imagine Venezuelan DGCIM (their version of the DIA's Defense Clan Service I heard), then imagine they get all ginned up apparently during those violent spikes in the 2009ish time period, all while making proxy crews (yes this actually happened...see wiki article Operation Michachoan i believe) and they made sub proxy/cut out groups utilizing these Zetas (not the GAFE top quality fmr Mex SF style Zetas you'd imagine) to attempt to disrupt our work at the behest of said DTOs...AS WELL AS our boy Chavez and his anti Bush Jr tiffs. Sorry to ramble (I have numerous TBIs and just had a coffee lol) but extremely long story short...I have been arrested w/my older brothers, my fmr peers, etc and had terrible interactions w/clearly sh!tty LE (not corrupt, but drug plant-level winners that were just plain dickheads and not remotely representative of folks like yourself I'd bet)....so my point, again...I have as much admiration for you and LE, as I did for the Special Missions guys I spent four years working alongside. *Even more so w/all this BLM nonsense (as if beating the elderly storeowners here in ATL area where I live nowadays is going to fix racism...🤦‍♂️ jeezus tap dancing christ) so my hats off to you sir....to YOU*

There was a gun at every entry point to the house, back to the wall, no large groups. As an adult now & having a clearer understanding of the things he went through & participated in, I get it.
