    Pre-emptive like. I only discovered these this year. Came up on the algorithms. So glad I've found them. Thank you Andrew and Sarah.

    Just nice when we're in the depths of winter seeing you in summer clothes paddling in the sea. Roll on summer (but not too hot like last year.)

    Dig, dig, dig!! LOL! It was fun to hear your "locals" discussion and see footage of these beautiful beaches again. You have captured so many wildflowers when filming your walks. I love them. I feel like watching Poldark again, ha ha. :)

    Polly Joke is wonderful in a few weeks as the blackthorn will be out if you approach from the campsite. It makes a tunnel of white flowers, and, not as busy as when the poppies are out 😉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍

    Just come across your channel. Fantastic vids and brought back some lovely memories, as my grandparents were from Cornwall and we spent many happy times walking the coastal paths and visiting all the different places. Also learnt something new from your vids. Keep up the good work. Our hidden gem as a family was Spit Beach near Par. Walking through the China clay works wasn’t the most picturesque, but the end result was great and really quiet, as at the time was only known to the locals.

    When I saw you had Porth Chapel in your top 10 list, I thought 'YES!' that's our favourite. 'Was so pleased when you ranked it as your number 1! You have to be careful that you visit when the tide is out though, as the beach is completely inaccessible. You then have to view the sea from several of the rocks above. The tide, when in, is horrendously angry!!

    Thank you Sarah & Andrew for another fantastic video! I will look out for these beaches on my next visit to Cornwall! I love you guys, you're so inspiring! I'm thinking of starting a TH-cam channel on hiking so your videos are very useful and insightful! Keep up the good work!🥰

    Beautiful & wonderful (and that's just Sarah & Andrew!). That's such useful advice on access, parking, tides & aspect. The only one of your featured coves & beaches I've been to is Portheras about 9 yrs ago, and it was just magical! I was so lucky with weather & timing (sun aspect) ~ all down to serendipity as little was planned. Finding myself alone on the beach (plus picnic), with the soft white sand and pale azure sea, it felt so exotic ~ like being on my own tropical island :)

    Hello Both. Really enjoyed that look at those beautiful beaches, thank you. Living in sw France as we do we don't get to Cornwall as often as we would like, but have, over a long period, walked the entire South West Coast Path. Nowadays, when we can get there we 'cherry-pick' favourite stretches of THE PATH to rewalk. This brings me to an idea for a suggestion, because Andrew used a term that 'clicked' with me while you were looking at Porth Chapel. He mentioned the term "stretches of the Coast Path". How about doing a similar vlog about 'favourite stretches of the Coast Path' ?
    Just an idea. Thanks for the great vlogs. David and Christine.

    Yes I agree with all your choices and have visited them all at all times of the year as I lived on the Penwith peninsula at St. Buryan and have missed some of the obvious as they were quiet busy back then . My quiet spot is Lankidden Bay on the Lizard and its not marked , complete solitude , tiny patch of sand but great rocks for diving . You have to do the SW Coastal Path .There are some others worth the hard work . Bedruthan Steps ( vertigo sufferers beware ) , Church Cove ( Gunwalloe) take your watercolours , Kynance , no matter how busy is spectacular and amazing , Rinsey Cove , Pedn Vounder Beach , Porthmeor ( not the one at St. Ives),
    Veor Cove , Fisherman's Cove , North Towan Tide Pool , Wheal Charlotte Beach , Hemmick Beach and Porthear .
    Its a shame that some of these beaches have now been broadcast since the early 90s I lived there .

    This was so lovely to watch Sarah and Andrew 👌😊...loads of favourites for me too there 😍🌅. My three favourite beaches are Polly Joke, Portheras and Colonna 💝... I've spent many an hour on all of those 🙏. The point at Colonna with the houses is called Chapel Point and there was a rumer once that Robby Williams was going to buy it...but I think it stayed just a rumer 😉... wouldn't be a bad place to buy though eh 😁. I agree about the beauty of Porth chapel too... haven't made it down on the beach yet...but hope to one day 🙏👍😘

    It's a brilliant idea to place the top ten beaches, parking and access to the beach are also included in the rating. I knew one beach by name, I knew several in the video. Our favorite is the Bedruthan Steps they are wonderfully scenic but the steps are very difficult and you have to watch out for the tides. I will include some of your beaches in our next vacation. What I liked best was the beach with the waterfall, it has a wonderful landscape, because I take a lot of photos, you can do a lot there, my number 1 is Hallane Beach. Greetings from the Palatinate Forest Günter

    This was a really lovely video! I have been to or walked past 5 of these, and will see the others later this year. I couldn't possibly start to range them, but I don't disagre with you so far 🙂 They are quite different, Helford Estuary has a multiple of great choices and is relatively easy to access, and beautiful Porthchapel is probably a bit more off the beathen path 🙂 Looking forward to explore the rest of these beaches 😍 Thank you, Torunn 🥰

    Hello Sarah and Andrew 😊😊
    I have just watched your video and I couldn’t agree MORE!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Porthchapel. I have loved it since I was about 6 or 7!!! Am am 59 now 😅. I don’t know what it is but I am drawn to Porthchapel as always being my favourite beach IN THE WORLD!!! Sarah, Andrew do you know of anything historical about Porthchapel please? I know there was once a chapel on the cliff of Porthchapel (I believe anyways). I absolutely love St Levan Church and Porthcurno too. I going in 4 weeks and I can’t wait! Your videos are a God send to me - love them. You are a lovely couple. ♥️😊🌊🪷🧜‍♀️🌊🐠🌊🐋🐚🪷xx Thank you for your videos xx

    So when Andrew said ‘ this is probably one of my favourite parts of the SWCP’ it got me thinking. I would love to know recommended stretched of the SWCP as far as most picturesque/photo ops etc. I don’t mind walking up and down. I just figure that comes with the territory on the coast. Great video. I drop pins in my google maps and add notes so when I am in Cornwall I’m ready to go on my own treasure hunt to some of these glorious locations!

    Brilliant!
    Absolutely right about Porthcurno....sadly a victim of its own beauty. Last went there 2021 - beautiful but way too crowded. Its a shame as I have many great memories there,
    As we stay in Holywell every year, we are very lucky to have a beautiful (but not hidden) beach on hand, also Crantock, but my favourite is Porth Joke by a big margin...particularly at low tide.
    I am minded to visit some others from your list, but probably not Porth Chapel beautiful as it looks, as it will be a nightmare in August.
    The dogs put in a sterling effort by the way....miners!

    I know someone who would have disagreed with Porth Joke being at No.10!.....it was Winston Graham's favourite beach. He loved it there and imagined Nampara situated on the cliffs All the beaches and coves in Cornwall are stunning tbh. Hard choice. But the atmosphere up at Tintagel Cove always takes my breath away. Not a beach at all, but just a beautiful inspiring dramatic backdrop to the Castle and all the myth and magic with the caves to explore. The true essence of Cornwall. But of course, so busy. Out of season though you can have it to yourself, especially if the weather is stormy 🌩and then it feels like you are the only one in the world! Close second is Crackington Haven with the towering cliffs🌊....x J x

    As beautiful as your top ten beaches are I would have had to include Daymer Bay in to my top ten as no matter how full the car park gets there is always plenty of room on the beach as it is so vast. Not to mention how safe the beach is for young children.
    Another great video, keep them coming.

    Coordinates 50°05'56"N 5°09'06"W looks like a great hideaway beach right opposite Powders accommodation on Frenchman's creek north side of river with a building behind. Perhaps a nice walk would be from Polwheveral down the creekside then towards that beach then onwards to Port Navas. Would love to see that beach especially 2hrs either side of high tide so better for a dip....just an idea 😉

  • @martinjn2920
    @martinjn2920 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Based on your initial individual rankings and giving 10 points for your personal favourite down to 1 point for the beach in 10th spot your results should be;
    Equal 8th - Nanjizal, Polly Joke and Molunan all with 6 points
    7th - Portheras with 8 points
    Equal 5th - Helford Estuary and Lantic Bay with 9 points
    4th - Vault Beach with 12 points
    3rd - Hallane with 17 points
    2nd - Colona with 18 points
    And in first place (drum roll please Andrew)
    Porth Chapel with 19 points.
    With the bottom six beaches having a points range of 6-9 it was very close at that end and it was incredibly close between the top 3 beaches only Vault was lonely far above the bottom 6 yet so far away from the top 3. 😊

    Hi Sarah and Andrew, very interesting video. You have to be a bit careful doing a video like this, Wendall got quite a bit of abuse with his "hidden gem" videos from very angry Cornish nationalists who don't like Cornwall's best kept secrets given away. I have to say I'm particularly fond of the Beaches down the West, I think it's a mix of the lovely warm granite rocks, white sand and turquoise sea that makes the beaches there special, so yes, Porthchapel is a good no. 1. , I love Nanjizal and Portheras too. Lantic Bay is fantastic and well worth exploring. I like Polly Joke, but to me it's not really secluded enough to be classed as a hidden gem. The first time I went there there were cows on the beach! Hallane is another fantastic beach. One which would be on my list would be Rinsey, and another would be Porthmeor, near Gurnard's Head.

  • @DerekGM6
    @DerekGM6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love your videos but one reason why these beaches are no longer the hidden gems that they were is because of videos on TH-cam!
    I have my own hidden gem, my Secret Beach, but unless you know Cornwall like the back of your hand you will never find it. But even that beach is no longer as secret as it was. The last time I was there it was very well patronised despite being very, very difficult to get to. I'm not being selfish and I love showing visitors the lovely parts of my home county for fifty-plus years, but the sad truth is that crowds are ruining the beauty and solitude of these beaches. Gwithian for example is rammed in summer with cars and camper vans parked all over the place, on every conceivable verge or grassy hillock that will support a car.
