The reactions to Dudunsparce cracks me up, especially the photoshop comments. We finally got the Dunsparce evolution and it's basically bigger Dunsparce with segments. As for my thoughts on Dudunsparce, I actually like it. I was off-put at first, but it grew on me overtime. I feel like many people have had high expectations on the Dunsparce evolution, hence the intial disappointments. I actually like how it looks since it doesn't alter Dunsparce's identity. Alot of people wanted a dragon evolution from it or something out of nowhere, but it would tarnish what makes Dunsparce well..Dunsparce. Plus, it's actually not too bad when it comes to battles. Apologies for the long comment, but I just wanted to give my thoughts on Dudunsparce. Long story short, I love this magnficent goober despite the intial backlash. You also have the legend where carps that leap over the dragon gate (waterfalls) transform into dragons like how Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, even though it's water/flying instead of dragon despite looking like one. Dunsparce is based off of the Tsuchinoko which is a snake-like cryptid/yokai. From what I read, they aren't associated with dragons and are more like snakes. Dunsparce is called the "land snake pokemon". I feel like it would be appropriate if Dudunsparce was normal/ground.
The hilarious part was that he was expecting Game Freak to deliberately attempt to one-up something from a fan game. Which are not officially endorsed by Nintendo nor Game Freak; thus, the latter's under no obligation to "do better" if it goes against the point of Dunsparce being a joke Pokemon. Essentially, this is the perfect example of: "Congratulations. You played yourself."

Dudunsparce is a thing of beauty. The power of the Tsuchinoko can truly be seen by all. And it gives such an underdog of a Pokemon some extra dignity, in stats and in that Protect bypassing move Hyper Drill.
Except Dudunsparce is: 1) ugly 2) failing to turn a large enough percentage of people against the idea of joke Pokémon evolving 3) not short and fat, two key aspects of the tsuchinoko
I confess when Larry used it I didn’t even know it was an evolution. I just thought it was a regular dunsparce. It’s name barely changes. I don’t realize until much later when I was checking the Pokédex and saw 2 dunsparce in a row
It should have evolved into a normal/ground type fake dragon noodle. It didn't need to look cool or intimidating. Just a little mixing up of the concept is all I would have liked. How am I supposed to feel anything at all looking at basically the same pokemon as before? Some of the new mons were cool but man. Flamigo, pawmot and dudunsparce are just. There.
I know everyone wants a third evolution called Dududunsparce that's just slightly longer. Personally, I'm hoping for a third evolution called Dudunsparcesparce. I want it to be two Dudunsparce stuck together Cat/Dog-style.

I'm just happy that my Dunsparce Twiggles can finally evolve. He's special to me because he was the one to beat Whitney's Miltank on my first fight with her in my first soulsilver playthrough. But the most important thing about this new evolution is that evolite Dunsparce exists now.

Not sure) only hardy nature serene grace dunsparce will, when transferred to sv, evolve into three segment, and even then it’s only a 1 out of 4 chance It has to do with math stuff and a Pokémon’s personality value and encryption constant- the personality value has been around longer and determines lots of stuff, the last two digits determine nature and ability, 00 is one of four combinations of those digits that can make a hardy nature serene grace Dunsparce. The encryption constant was introduced later on and for a Pokémon transferred up from gen 4 (and maybe gen 3 as I said) they just copy the personality value, and three segment dudunsparce will evolve from any dunsparce who have 00 at the end of their encryption constant, thus, one out of four gen 3-4 hardy nature serene grace dunsparce will have an encryption constant for three segment when transferred up At least that’s assuming I’m not getting anything wrong or misremembering anything
Dunsparce actually got banned because of it. Because he's technically a base evolution now, he qualified for Little Cup, but because he was designed as a single stage Pokemon initially, his stats-even for what they are-made him too powerful for the format and he was immediately kicked out.
Dunsparce is a Tsuchinoko, the most useless of the UMA's. The entire point of Dunsparce was being a "trash rare" Pokémon. In a way, it evolving *at all* is a mistake so this is the perfect solution (with a pointlessly rare gimmick to make up for it). It's still just Dunsparce but with better stats, so people will (hopefully) stop asking for the impossible. Dunsparce is perfect, so Dudunsparce is peperfect.
If you know the origins of dunsparce, it honestly makes since. It isn’t this big dragon or cool legend; it’s just this deflated looking snake. Dunsparce itself seemed to be made as a joke. But the fans insisted for years it should evolve and gave it huge expectations despite it. So Gamefreak decided(since this Gen was built on memes) that they should deliver and gave us the best troll move I’ve seen. Even the name is secretly a rimshot. I love this Pokémon for the simple reason of it being a joke against the people who kept asking(and hey, it’s good in battle so it wasn’t a complete joke)

I legitimately would have never realized Dudunsparce’s name was inspired by rimshots, lmao. I just thought it was purely an extension of “Dunsparce”, which like… it obviously still is. But the extra rimshot cherry on top is fantastic. GameFreak has a brilliant sense of humor.

Thw point kf dunsparce is that is exceedingly rare pokemon with awful stats to teach the player that not all rare pokemon are good. Its also based on the tsuchinoko which isx for the most part, a joke Yokai So if it had to evolve it getting slightly bigger is just the best way to do it
The best part of Dudun is that theres 2 kinds of people; People that know Dunsparce has ALWAYS been a joke pokémon, supposed to be a disappointing lil guy and adore how they kept that aspect of his design And people that forget he's a joke and have been overhyping the idea of him becoming some destroyer of worlds dragon and end up disappointed by an evolution that, in all aspects, is perfect for it and is exactly what it would have always been had he gotten it years prior. Is that disappointment justified? That's arguable. Not gonna say its not valid but I wouldn't say it IS valid either as someone whos in camp A.

I just really liked how it looked, so not really charmed by it's uselessness. I get the idea behind it being a tsuchinoko and a joke, but I feel like they definitely could've made it look slightly cooler and still keep all of its main aspects (that being useless and a tsuchinoko). I feel like it's just a cheap design... they saw an opportunity and went for it, because why wouldn't they.

Dudunsparce is the best evolution we've gotten. People said "we want a Dragon type Dunsparce evolution!" but Game Freak gave us the cute joke evolution and I'm happy with it. I love it.

If they really wanted to troll people, they'd add a third evolution, then make it the only Pokemon with a fourth evolution, call it Sparce, and make it smaller than the first evolution.
Fun fact: Most people who complain about dudunsparce 'just getting bigger' or 'only getting an extra segment' do not complain about magnemite or grimer's evolution. More fun fact: In a few years time people are gonna LOVE dudunsparce even more. Edit: They also do not complain about voltorb or diglet's evolution.

Dudunsparce, for an evolution was not really disappointing for me. It was honestly already perfect with its design as is, and the evo just made it more adorable. It’s literally just a long and bigger boi and I adore it.
I completely lost it at that last one. XD It had the perfect lead up to the evolution, the disappointment was great, and the opposite reactions was hilarious! It's been a while since I've had to pause a video because I was laughing so hard. It was so hilarious!
This is honestly the best evolution for Dunsparce, a few mons do benefit from just "bigger pre-evolution" for example Pidgey line.. or its last two at least look very similiar imo, same with Clefairy, or Chansey.. honestly a lot of gen 1 Pokemon did the "get bigger" and no one had an issue, but suddenly they do it again after so long with Dunsparce and Pawmi (and probably others) and it's an issue? Dunsparce has always been the "semi joke" mon and it just having a varied learnset cemented it as loved for me, so it evolving and doing the most Dunsparce thing ever of "extra segment" (plus extra mouth spike, the tail is different, and the pattern on the belly has changed) just made it better.. since honestly if it did get any like quetzalcoatl form or something it'd be too.. "actual Pokemon" if that makes any sense I love the reactions vary between getting the point and not.. like people saying "that is disappointing" do not understand that not all Pokemon need to become hulking beasts or drastically different for it to be an evolution
It's because, despite what a vocal minority of the fandom says, Pokemon designs have by and large been getting more creative, because the designers have more detail on the system to work with. There were only so many design elements you can cram into a sprite on the Gameboy, and most of the designs were really simple because of that. Now that the possibilities for design are nearly endless, people were just hoping for more, as strange as that hope may have been
I agree except with Pawmi, Dunsparce is perfection so he can get away with it but Pawmi's evo? It's just... kinda a bad design, it doesn't look appealing, I think the anatomy is slightly off looking and all the fur tuffs are a bit much. And this is coming from someone who still has one on their team.
Pawmi's "evolutions" don't even look like they got someone from Kanto to work on it, they look like they got that Pancham from Super Mystery Dungeon to design it. In addition, this isn't on the Atari 2600, therefore Tangrowth/Muk/Electrode/Magneton should be the minimum, not Dudunsparce.

But people kept demanding an evolution for it, especially after fangames set their expectations insanely high, so Game Freak fulfilled those demands. When I heard Dunsparce had an evolution I was kinda concerned, But when I saw it I lost my shit, It's such a good troll. It's especially nice because as far as I can tell they didn't promote it at all.
I unironically love Dudunsparce. Dunsparce for me was the epitome of a Normal type pokemon, with stats that aren't anything special but a very wide movepool with a lot of coverage everywhere. Sure it Wasn't strong or anything special like that but it's inoffensive and just a silly little guy and he was special in his own little way. I know a lot of people were expecting a big epic dragon for an evolution but that would kinda ruin what made Dunsparce special on his own. Not to mention that it wouldn't make sense considering what Dunsparce is based on. Dudunsparce is the perfect evolution for a mon like Dunsparce. Perfectly in-character, an epic troll, and still kept what makes Dunsparce special by keeping the Pure Normal type and the wide movepool. In other words. People wanted Dunsparce to change while Dunsparce decided that he was special as is and didn't change much when it evolved.
I think something that so many people forget is that, if they gave Dunsparce a cool evolution, it just wouldn’t have been as good, because they’d be purposefully changing what made Dunsparce lovable: it’s a derpy Jokémon, so they gave it an even derpier joke evolution
I feel so bad for the last dude...I too was one of the people who wanted Dunsparce to evolve, but I wasn't upset with this cause I realized something. People have been creating fanmade Dunsparce evolutions for years now, that it must've been hard for them to create an evolution that someone didn't already make on the internet. It also made me realize that part of the reason why so many people wanted Dunsparce to evolve in the first place wasn't simply cause he was a bad and useless Pokemon, but because he looked cute and unique and was special, cause he was a rare encounter, so naturally they expected something incredible, like Feebas to Milotic. But I agree with what the first guy in the vid said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Dudunsparce made me appreciate Dunsparce a lot more than I previously did, and now I love both of them, so much so that I'm even crazy enough to try and get a Shiny 3 segment one! Also, you can't deny how funny it is that they made this as a troll evolution!
Also Dunsparce is based off of a Japanese yokai which is just a fat snake which is hard to find, that's it. Nothing special other than its form and rarity

I'm questioning my decision to consider the concept of Dunsparce evolving not an innate defilement, because with what we got and how people are defending it despite their bare minimum being higher on the Game Boy of all consoles, it sure _feels_ like an innate defilement.

I wanted dunsparce to have a cool evolution, but in the end I think I appreciate the evo because I remembered why I liked dunsparce initially. he's just a lil goober. the joke about him being a super rare pokemon that's just kinda ordinary otherwise, like the yokai inspiration for him where people put up crazy bounties to find what was just a weird fat snake, that at most was known for drinking alcohol and eating itself ouroboros style. He's a normal lil guy and I love him, so having a lil extra normal to him is fine by me :)
The whole point of dunsparce was to double underline the idea that mons aren't always available cuz Gen 2 was when day and night cycles were added. Dunsparce only showed up in ONE cave when a kid near that cave told you there was an outbreak of them. It was made to troll and troll it has yet again.
Dunsparce has been my favourite normal type for years, long before S&V. And I was among the party that wanted a Dunsparce evolution. And when I heard that S&V would be delivering, I was excited. And then I evolved my Dunsparce in game...and it was everything I wanted. I genuinely love Dudunsparce. It's goofy and stupid but that's exactly why I loved Dunsparce in the first place. In my opinion, Dudunsparce is perfect the way it is.

I mean when there are pokemon that evolve into more of the same pokemon(Dugtrio, Magneton) or just getting flipped upside down(Electrode, Malamar) I would say this fits as a more appropriate evolution that others.
For me: I always thought Dunsparse and it's Tsuchinkoko inspiration was neat, but wasn't too intent on catching it. But now.....this is literally one of my favorites, I love this little bugger. I love that they crank up the rarity meme and gave it a second form that is entirely chance based. I do think three segment does just look better though, like it was intended to be the longer snakey guy, two segment does look just incomplete.

Dudunsparce is a thing of beauty. The power of the Tsuchinoko can truly be seen by all. And it gives such an underdog of a Pokemon some extra dignity, in stats and in that Protect bypassing move Hyper Drill.
Except Dudunsparce is:
1) ugly
2) failing to turn a large enough percentage of people against the idea of joke Pokémon evolving
3) not short and fat, two key aspects of the tsuchinoko
I confess when Larry used it I didn’t even know it was an evolution. I just thought it was a regular dunsparce. It’s name barely changes. I don’t realize until much later when I was checking the Pokédex and saw 2 dunsparce in a row

I'm just happy that my Dunsparce Twiggles can finally evolve. He's special to me because he was the one to beat Whitney's Miltank on my first fight with her in my first soulsilver playthrough.

It has to do with math stuff and a Pokémon’s personality value and encryption constant- the personality value has been around longer and determines lots of stuff, the last two digits determine nature and ability, 00 is one of four combinations of those digits that can make a hardy nature serene grace Dunsparce. The encryption constant was introduced later on and for a Pokémon transferred up from gen 4 (and maybe gen 3 as I said) they just copy the personality value, and three segment dudunsparce will evolve from any dunsparce who have 00 at the end of their encryption constant, thus, one out of four gen 3-4 hardy nature serene grace dunsparce will have an encryption constant for three segment when transferred up
At least that’s assuming I’m not getting anything wrong or misremembering anything
Dunsparce actually got banned because of it. Because he's technically a base evolution now, he qualified for Little Cup, but because he was designed as a single stage Pokemon initially, his stats-even for what they are-made him too powerful for the format and he was immediately kicked out.

Dunsparce is a Tsuchinoko, the most useless of the UMA's. The entire point of Dunsparce was being a "trash rare" Pokémon. In a way, it evolving *at all* is a mistake so this is the perfect solution (with a pointlessly rare gimmick to make up for it). It's still just Dunsparce but with better stats, so people will (hopefully) stop asking for the impossible.
Dunsparce is perfect, so Dudunsparce is peperfect.

If you know the origins of dunsparce, it honestly makes since. It isn’t this big dragon or cool legend; it’s just this deflated looking snake. Dunsparce itself seemed to be made as a joke. But the fans insisted for years it should evolve and gave it huge expectations despite it. So Gamefreak decided(since this Gen was built on memes) that they should deliver and gave us the best troll move I’ve seen. Even the name is secretly a rimshot. I love this Pokémon for the simple reason of it being a joke against the people who kept asking(and hey, it’s good in battle so it wasn’t a complete joke)

I legitimately would have never realized Dudunsparce’s name was inspired by rimshots, lmao. I just thought it was purely an extension of “Dunsparce”, which like… it obviously still is. But the extra rimshot cherry on top is fantastic. GameFreak has a brilliant sense of humor.
Dudunsparce is even too similar to Dunsparce. Its name repeats the “Du” in its name, it doesn’t change typing, and it’s cry is literally the same as Dunsparce, but lower pitched and repeated twice. It’s like you can’t remove perfection.

Thw point kf dunsparce is that is exceedingly rare pokemon with awful stats to teach the player that not all rare pokemon are good. Its also based on the tsuchinoko which isx for the most part, a joke Yokai

I just really liked how it looked, so not really charmed by it's uselessness. I get the idea behind it being a tsuchinoko and a joke, but I feel like they definitely could've made it look slightly cooler and still keep all of its main aspects (that being useless and a tsuchinoko). I feel like it's just a cheap design... they saw an opportunity and went for it, because why wouldn't they.

Dudunsparce is the best evolution we've gotten. People said "we want a Dragon type Dunsparce evolution!" but Game Freak gave us the cute joke evolution and I'm happy with it. I love it.

Dudunsparce, for an evolution was not really disappointing for me. It was honestly already perfect with its design as is, and the evo just made it more adorable. It’s literally just a long and bigger boi and I adore it.

This is honestly the best evolution for Dunsparce, a few mons do benefit from just "bigger pre-evolution" for example Pidgey line.. or its last two at least look very similiar imo, same with Clefairy, or Chansey.. honestly a lot of gen 1 Pokemon did the "get bigger" and no one had an issue, but suddenly they do it again after so long with Dunsparce and Pawmi (and probably others) and it's an issue?
Dunsparce has always been the "semi joke" mon and it just having a varied learnset cemented it as loved for me, so it evolving and doing the most Dunsparce thing ever of "extra segment" (plus extra mouth spike, the tail is different, and the pattern on the belly has changed) just made it better.. since honestly if it did get any like quetzalcoatl form or something it'd be too.. "actual Pokemon" if that makes any sense

It's because, despite what a vocal minority of the fandom says, Pokemon designs have by and large been getting more creative, because the designers have more detail on the system to work with. There were only so many design elements you can cram into a sprite on the Gameboy, and most of the designs were really simple because of that. Now that the possibilities for design are nearly endless, people were just hoping for more, as strange as that hope may have been
I agree except with Pawmi, Dunsparce is perfection so he can get away with it but Pawmi's evo? It's just... kinda a bad design, it doesn't look appealing, I think the anatomy is slightly off looking and all the fur tuffs are a bit much.
And this is coming from someone who still has one on their team.
Pawmi's "evolutions" don't even look like they got someone from Kanto to work on it, they look like they got that Pancham from Super Mystery Dungeon to design it. In addition, this isn't on the Atari 2600, therefore Tangrowth/Muk/Electrode/Magneton should be the minimum, not Dudunsparce.

I unironically love Dudunsparce.
Dunsparce for me was the epitome of a Normal type pokemon, with stats that aren't anything special but a very wide movepool with a lot of coverage everywhere. Sure it Wasn't strong or anything special like that but it's inoffensive and just a silly little guy and he was special in his own little way. I know a lot of people were expecting a big epic dragon for an evolution but that would kinda ruin what made Dunsparce special on his own. Not to mention that it wouldn't make sense considering what Dunsparce is based on.
Dudunsparce is the perfect evolution for a mon like Dunsparce. Perfectly in-character, an epic troll, and still kept what makes Dunsparce special by keeping the Pure Normal type and the wide movepool.
In other words. People wanted Dunsparce to change while Dunsparce decided that he was special as is and didn't change much when it evolved.

I feel so bad for the last dude...I too was one of the people who wanted Dunsparce to evolve, but I wasn't upset with this cause I realized something. People have been creating fanmade Dunsparce evolutions for years now, that it must've been hard for them to create an evolution that someone didn't already make on the internet. It also made me realize that part of the reason why so many people wanted Dunsparce to evolve in the first place wasn't simply cause he was a bad and useless Pokemon, but because he looked cute and unique and was special, cause he was a rare encounter, so naturally they expected something incredible, like Feebas to Milotic. But I agree with what the first guy in the vid said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Dudunsparce made me appreciate Dunsparce a lot more than I previously did, and now I love both of them, so much so that I'm even crazy enough to try and get a Shiny 3 segment one! Also, you can't deny how funny it is that they made this as a troll evolution!
Also Dunsparce is based off of a Japanese yokai which is just a fat snake which is hard to find, that's it. Nothing special other than its form and rarity

I love dudunsparce everytime i look at him i can hear gamefreak laughing maniacly as the fans sream in rage and agony.
I wanted dunsparce to have a cool evolution, but in the end I think I appreciate the evo because I remembered why I liked dunsparce initially. he's just a lil goober. the joke about him being a super rare pokemon that's just kinda ordinary otherwise, like the yokai inspiration for him where people put up crazy bounties to find what was just a weird fat snake, that at most was known for drinking alcohol and eating itself ouroboros style. He's a normal lil guy and I love him, so having a lil extra normal to him is fine by me :)
As a casual Dudunsparce enjoyer, I am laughing at all of the dissapointing reactions because they're funny.
The whole point of dunsparce was to double underline the idea that mons aren't always available cuz Gen 2 was when day and night cycles were added. Dunsparce only showed up in ONE cave when a kid near that cave told you there was an outbreak of them. It was made to troll and troll it has yet again.
Dunsparce has been my favourite normal type for years, long before S&V. And I was among the party that wanted a Dunsparce evolution. And when I heard that S&V would be delivering, I was excited.
And then I evolved my Dunsparce in game...and it was everything I wanted. I genuinely love Dudunsparce. It's goofy and stupid but that's exactly why I loved Dunsparce in the first place. In my opinion, Dudunsparce is perfect the way it is.

For me: I always thought Dunsparse and it's Tsuchinkoko inspiration was neat, but wasn't too intent on catching it. But now.....this is literally one of my favorites, I love this little bugger.
