In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He has his own company „DimashAli Creative Center“ and is managed by his father Kanat. Since you don’t have any context for this song, I’ll give you some info. First, this song has become his “calling card” since the first time he performed it in 2017. It was on one of the most prestigious singing competitions in the world- “I Am a Singer” in China. As an unknown foreign singer on the show, Dimash opened the first episode with his performance of the song “SOS d’un terrien en detresse” (“SOS of an earthling in distress”). That is what you listened to here, and it made him an overnight sensation in China with over 600 million views after it aired. It was created for the 1979 French-Canadian rock opera “Starmania”, hence, the song is in French. It quickly became known as one of the most difficult songs ever to sing, as it covers a vocal range that most singers cannot do well (obviously this doesn’t apply to Dimash, as he covered the song’s full range and then some). The bald guy with the weird stuff is a percussionist. He's got a bag of weird things made of hardwood and metal that can be shaken, tapped, rubbed and struck together. Like those "rain sticks" - you just tilt them upside down and the little bits fall down inside and rattle as they go, sounding like rain. He probably has a bag of 30 things and you've probably only seen 5 of them before. For this song, he probably only needs about 6 items, so he sets them out for quick access. He's the same guy that did the triangle in Sinful Passion, so I think Dimash has been hijacking parts of the band, A-Studio, for some of his concerts.

He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages, this song was in French (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin). He plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology (has a Masters in composition). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 7 octave 2 semi-tone range, has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. This version comes from the Digital Concert Dimash put on during the pandemic when live concerts were cancelled all over the world. This song comes from the famous 1978 Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania', which is well known in French-speaking countries, and is a pretty difficult song to sing. In 2017 Dimash received a wild card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant ever at 22 years old and the first non-Chinese. Dimash is a 28-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8 off the piano). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!).
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He has his own company „DimashAli Creative Center“ and is managed by his father Kanat. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this.
His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art1, you realize your so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview he trains every day at least 3 hours and he swims under water very often to increase his lung capacity. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. The musicians who accompany him are called A-Studio. It's a Kazakh band that wrote this song in 1998. However, Dimash sang it differently. And in my opinion much better 😄.
The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
If possible, always watch the videos to the end. Very often there are interesting things to learn. Either there’s something to laugh about, or he’s talking to his audience. He always thanks his musicians. He is incredibly humble and never acts like a star. When he is praised, he constantly says that it is thanks to his teachers and his parents, who made it all possible for him. He’s just incredible.

Since you don’t have any context for this song, I’ll give you some info. First, this song has become his “calling card” since the first time he performed it in 2017. It was on one of the most prestigious singing competitions in the world- “I Am a Singer” in China. As an unknown foreign singer on the show, Dimash opened the first episode with his performance of the song “SOS d’un terrien en detresse” (“SOS of an earthling in distress”). That is what you listened to here, and it made him an overnight sensation in China with over 600 million views after it aired.
It was created for the 1979 French-Canadian rock opera “Starmania”, hence, the song is in French. It quickly became known as one of the most difficult songs ever to sing, as it covers a vocal range that most singers cannot do well (obviously this doesn’t apply to Dimash, as he covered the song’s full range and then some). One of the most popular versions was sung beautifully by the late Gregory Lemarchal, who enchanted the audience with his voice despite having a much smaller lung capacity than most people due to cystic fibrosis. The actual subject matter is very profound. The singer opens with the questions “Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry?”. The bald guy with the weird stuff is a percussionist. He's got a bag of weird things made of hardwood and metal that can be shaken, tapped, rubbed and struck together. Like those "rain sticks" - you just tilt them upside down and the little bits fall down inside and rattle as they go, sounding like rain. He probably has a bag of 30 things and you've probably only seen 5 of them before. For this song, he probably only needs about 6 items, so he sets them out for quick access. He's the same guy that did the triangle in Sinful Passion, so I think Dimash has been hijacking parts of the band, A-Studio, for some of his concerts.
