    Hey man, you just helped me solve a problem that's been nagging me for years. I was able to revive an abandoned Xbox thanks to this video, and now have several more lined up. Thank you for your great content!

    Hey i got 0,62V on the both left mosfets if i put the black on the end of the mosfet and red on gnd the 3. mosfet gets 0,064V so i think its a bad one. BUT if i switch the red with the black side i should get 1,9V but i get 0V i dont understand... is this related to the defective mosfet or are they all defective? Do I need a other mode on my multimeter? I used diode mode

    Hey man, do you have a link for where you get your retimer chips and mosfits from?

      Sadly I'm struggling to get retimers as Digikey has a supply problem at the minute but as soon as they come back in stock I'll let everyone know. The mosfets I buy from Digikey @ www.digikey.co.uk/en/products/detail/toshiba-semiconductor-and-storage/TPN8R903NLLQ/4332064

    I'm going crazy with my Xbox one S because the 12v rail has no short (checked the thermal cam anyway, but nothing stood out), I checked the continuity on the gate of each MOSFET to the resistor next to them them in the circuit (flipped leads around just to see; got .750k in one direction, OL in the other on all 3 phases). Again I compared the OL to other 2 boards and they were doing the same thing, while other youtubers were getting 1.9ish. Weird. All of the capacitors and resistors on each phase test normal. Well, maybe normal. the 2P20 resistors on each phase (the 3 closest to the edge of the board) are giving me a short, but I compared my measurements to a couple of other boards and they were doing to same thing, so I'm guessing these only put out 2.2k with power, but that seems like odd behavior for a resistor. I don't see any other option except a solder reflow and cross my fingers, cuz I don't have time to sit around all day reballing APUs with my naked eye XD. Oh, i forgot to mention the first thing I did which was try a different PSU. Same behavior.
    I did notice something possibly worth noting though. If i hold the bind button like I'm trying to get into safe mode, it will come on like normal and beep and turn off obviously, but if i continue to hold it, it will try again to turn on, but no more.

      It really depends, I always take a look but a lot of power on power off consoles tend to have cpu shorts, but some turn out to be fixable

    My Xbox One S powers on with the FAN plugged in, no drives. After I connect the CD and HDD, it will power off 2 to 3 seconds after I switch it on. I managed to boot once and set the power mode to quick start so that it doesn't go off completely. That kept it working fine until one day i had to unplug the power. Since then i haven't been able to get it to power on without going off a few seconds later again. What could be the problem?

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be quite difficult to say without seeing it in person as it could be a number of things. You may have a bad part such as the disc drive or it could be a main board issue such as a bad power delivery mosfet. Unfortunately it would be impossoble to know for sure though

      @@TheCod3r thanks for your reply. Your videos have been very enlightening and I really appreciate your sharing. The problem seems to be intermittent, though its not working most of the time. After dismantling down to the board again the day before, the box was able to startup normally. Keeping it in quick start power mode allows me to switch it back on with the wireless controller. I'll try and save this battle for a later time when I need to unplug the power cord again.
      Could you please share the link to the video on the one x with the CD drive and power MOSFET problem you mentioned to Tony Mondragon that you were editing? Thanks so much for your Channel!

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@liamowen7447 you'll definitely get there, just build your equipment up slowly. My particular scope costs around £400 without attachments so it's quite expensive. If you don't want to invest that kind of money straight away have a look on the Google play store for an app called Cozy magnifier. It's a great app for android and if you get yourself a phone desk mount and a phone hdmi converter for around £30 total you can have yourself a pretty decent microscope on the cheap

    I've got a short to ground as well on the power supply but when I test the MOSFETS they all read fine. Where would you suggest I check next for the short? Thanks for the tips btw!

    • @TheCod3r
      @TheCod3r  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey bud, the mosfets do rarely test ok even when they're not. I'm actually editing a video right now where the mosfet read normal but still had a problem except that one was related to the disc drive circuit on an xbox one x. I would say if you have no visible damage to any components the next best thing would be to just start removing components one by one. I would start with the mosfets and then move on to the mosfet driver ICs. You can always put them back if they don't clear the short. Be sure to also try the capacitors as they can essentially turn into a wire and short to ground
