There are beautiful thoughts and very ugly thoughts and everything in between. We should just look at each thought and allow each thought to leave, this is called passive awareness. By not looking at the horrible thoughts they stay inside of us and do not allow fresh thoughts to enter and this same principle applies to the beautiful thoughts, do not milk them like they will be the last thoughts that you will ever have. This story puts forth a vivid description of the process that awakens a person to Zen. However, being engrossed in something is not what Zen is pointing to. Neither is disassociation from the body. I agree that meditation, should be a seamless transition from sitting in the Dojo into everyday life, but it is one of a series of important experiences that need to be explored sequentially so that mind and body merge into being. Awakening has very distinct properties that are not associated with what you have described. Zen awakening does not occur through the absence of thought but rather through the absence of tension related to thought. We sit on the stool to feel the misalignment of our body, psychology, emotion and intention. We walk through life observing why this misalignment occurs. Then we follow the masters instruction implicitly until we find the door that cannot be reached through conscious awareness Only through the core of being will its key be turned.
I feel like I have been saved, simply by understanding this, and allowing it to soak into me. Thank you. Thank you, so much. I do not even know what to say. I will let my thoughts slip away and begin to let go in my moments.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 182 subs and almost 82 hours of watch time. Actually thinking is a painful process and most people avoid it therefore. To be a clear, cogent and critical thinker requires a lot of patience, complex reasoning, and ability to withstand experience of most unfortunate failures! This results in thoughtless actions in the name of practical wisdom. To be able to think clearly is a great achievement and should not be derided.

Thanks! Very cool video. I meditated my way right through grade school. Always in a whole other place doing entirely more interesting things. Even being kept in at recess didn’t stop me from all my “daydreaming” (prison break😅). Even being scorned and kept inside for punishment at lunch and after school didn’t work. I’d draw my world on every last available inch of my desktop. Washing it off wasn’t perceived by me as a punishment. To me, it was simply me preparing my next canvas. I think my work around nature has seriously pissed people off a lot. For someone that everyone describes as “so zen” and “so patient” I certainly seem to trigger an alarming amount of people. So much so, that I’m now a happy little hermit. I can’t wait for the spring to finally come so I can do my nature meditations again. I love to wander through the woods. This winter has been exceptionally long and where I live and there’s *still* loads of snow on the ground. Earth did need all this moisture though, soo, it’s actually good. Now my water well won’t collapse. Coming back to class actually felt like waking up from a dream and it literally felt like stepping in and out, between two worlds. As a child I believed I was just a “daydreamer” as all the adults had labelled me. It wasn’t until I was a teenager and began my guided meditations with the big old 70s style headphones, at night, that I learned the truth. That was when I realized what I did throughout my earlier childhood was actually meditation. Not “daydreaming”. There’s a big difference. That’s why I still learned. I was in a whole different reality, yet I was still absorbing all my lessons! I just learned them all in a verrry different way through a verrrry abstract and strange filter. As an adult, I finally learned why I’m sooo different, while at work. I learned of my odd, verrry rare and even cognitively different (“whole brain, zen like pattern”) personality type, via a forced personality test that our boss made us take. She already suspected this result out of me, as she also knows one of my odd rare personalities well, since she’s married to one of my kind, lol! So she wanted to know if she was correct about me. She was. That was almost ten years ago, now. What I’ve learned is that life will come and answer your questions if you simply be patient, relax and allow for it to come in, in whatever ways are most natural and flow easiest. That’s the best way to receive information. Just cast out your big information net. Then, patiently and graciously wait for all the wisdom fishies to swim into it and into the human awareness. Knowledge may be power but wisdom is *peace.* To be balanced, whole, and well rounded, I must have a healthy cache of both, within me. I’m an introverted intuitive dominant. That means my dominant cognitive function, the one I lead with and the earliest developed cognitive function within my cognitive functions stack (which was why I basically lived in it as a child), was intuition. I am an intuitive.

Nice Zen story.. The real Truth cannot be said, it is pure silence and Peace!! All the Monasteries the other side of the social market place.. They don't have any difference, because the people in both cases are the same. The truth can be realized this moment, if we are TOTAL in our actions!! Meditation is not a practice, is like Breathing, it is a Natural process. All the best..

Wow. Amazed to come across this story. My husband is very good at meditation and he teaches others too. I used to take him where his group people would gather to exchange views and do meditation under his guidance. When sometimes I come across them, they used to ask me why I do not attend this classes. I used to tell that I can not meditate like this. My mind is preoccupied with other errands that are my responsibility keep haunting me while sitting here with closed eyes. That is not this meditation practice he is teaching here. So it is better I do my work giving my 100%. I love cooking, painting, sewing and keeping my home organised with my minimal assets. It gives me immense joy and satisfaction when I do my best in my task to complete. And here also it says the same thing. SO, I am good where I am doing my duty at my best. Thanks.

This story has literally opened my eyes, before this I had been completely disturbed and at a time there were so many thoughts going on which was destroying my confidence as well as impacting on my health, as this story I heard I came to know that thoughts are just imagination and illusion now I am feeling relaxed.😃
Thank you so much for this.
how did u stop thinking🙄
same here
There are beautiful thoughts and very ugly thoughts and everything in between. Yin and yang...............Falun Dafa
I think I understand him completely. There have been many a time in my life when I have realized this firsthand but I tend to ponder and stray away from this realization.

Through focus you gain something more important than power, you attain a sense of yourself and the importance or responsibilities
Me too. This was God sent
@@iconicwriters1305 I agree, lovely one!!

I loved this story. I was thinking about doing meditation. Because nowadays my mind is not peaceful. I'm not feeling good and energetic. But when you said we can meditate through our work, then I realize I can do it. I'm an artist and art is a best therapy for a peaceful mind. Thank you for this story.
You need to read about Pablo Picasso he was always in the Flow or the Zone while painting.
Same with me. I just got lost while I'm painting it's just the meditation for me

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 2 months ago about self development. Now I have 182 subs and almost 82 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.
As a single man I've stopped thinking as when with people it takes such energy to make ' smalltalk '. Its bliss.

*To think and be controlled by thinking are two different things.* 🙏🏽
This is amazing … Iv been doing this for years … and didn’t even know it … my job is my meditation from my life … when I am there I can focus on only my job and I block out everything else …
I’m great, but STILL NEED PRACTICE

i clicked on that video, being very pessimistic about the probable message. but after watching the video, i kinda hope that i will lose my thoughts, because they are what is haunting and depressing meh. thanks for the video man. really appreciate it and hope it is possible to follow that simple guide.
I was in Zen while I watched this video. Great wisdom.
This reflects the Highest Truth !!!
Being-ness far supersedes doing.
I am mediation outside my yard, I just don’t think of anything just look up to the sky and look how the clouds forms. I don’t think of anything. It works you don’t think anything in You Tube you don’t need it. Just trust God in your heart. 🙏❤️❤️

THANK YOU MASTER!!! THE BUDDHA WAS A WALKING MEDITATION because he always had his Mind under Control and after Many years sitting under the Bodi He walked Straight View Field Knowing where he was going to and whatever Dynamics he had to meet along the way.Yet,even those daily requirements didn't prevent him from Keeping His Mental Battery 🔋 Clear & Clean which He inturned Downloaded "UNTOLD WISDOM" like No other in His Time!!!!! Hmmmm
Thanks.
As long as we are making effort to be a better version of ourself that’s good enough. Problem arises when we start comparing ourself with others and think that we are not good enough
Namaste love and light very awesome spiritual food thank you !
The monk who enlightened himself doesn’t talk about negatively towards others
The content is compared with others
A monk never compares himself with others
So following this story, the whole monastery in there is builded up by false knowledge and wisdom, when it just takes to do forget all thoughts to become enlighten?
I will start practicing it from now on. My journey begins again
Great message is delivered from this video. What i have understand and learned is concentrate on what you are doing without thinking anything else. You can find yourself by doing so. Thanks for the amazing message.

Exactly
An inspiring and profound story! The disciple's journey to enlightenment truly shows that sometimes the simplest tasks can lead to self-awareness
To me meditation can be achieved through flow state, getting lost in the moment in what you’re doing. I have felt this before while swimming and playing basketball competitively. Two of my favorite hobbies.
I also like to think that we can relate to how certain athletes and singers enter into this flow state while performing
Mindfulness, what you're describing, is great and helpful, but it won't rewire the brain the way focused meditation can.
@@AndrewLewisHowe yes I agree they are different but I think it’s a good way for someone with no understanding of meditation to gain exposure to that way of thinking if that makes sense
@@investorbettor505 Absolutely. And mindfulness is still training for focus, which helps my meditations.

This is the most profound knowledge that I have ever attained in my life. I was able to attain this state of mindlessness about the surroundings by focusing on my actions with mindfulness.
