Dear@@pastorbri, yes, homophobia rejects a *person* by conflating that person with the particular sin by which that person is tempted, and that is sinful. I recently had been messaging a self-described homosexual Catholic. I tried to show him that lust is sinful. I made sure not to differentiate between same sex lust and heterosexual lust. The fact is they are both sin. That opened him up to looking at the situation without thinking his lust was special or different. We were able to explore why all lust is bad, but God loves us all. It took a while to get him to see himself as a Catholic man who struggled with lustful attraction instead of a "gay Catholic"

I have to defend VeggieTales being born in 2000. Trent, VeggieTales is probably the only reason I knew as much about the Bible as I did. Yes, the tone is different. But kids still have innocence. And I naturally and gradually understood the tone of the Bible as I grew older. It's no different than gradually realizing Santa isn't real. It's something you understand as you grow out of innocence. There's nothing wrong with giving kids a basic outline of Bible stories that they'll come back to later with better understanding

In Catholicism all sexual acts outside marriage not open to life are considered sinful. The focus on homosexuality is a bit strange I think. Sleeping with your wife wearing a condom is considered sinful. Sleeping with your girlfriend is considered sinful. If you want to allow homosexuality you must first lift the law on openness to life. Probably you must also lift the notion of teleology. I don't hear too much talk about these, but specifics about homosexuality. This kind of shows me that champions of allowing homosexuality might be a bit disingenuous.
Sex only being allowed with openness to life kind of gets rid of the entire homosexuality debate.

If yes then thats most heterosexuals stuffed but not lesbians as they don't do that......I bet even you don't know what is a homosexual act. After all, a homosexual is simply someone attracted to their own sex and an act could be anything, doing the bills or shopping. Maybe u need to re think what it is you want to condemn?

    • @cromi4194
      @cromi4194 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@pastorbri the catholic church teaches that having sex while chosing not to have children is a disordered act, as it contradicts the very purpose or telos of sex. The idea is that creation is structured in a perfectly meaningful way. The reason sex exists at all and is pleasurable is because of its procreative power. In a sense you could view it as a self-contradictory act to engage in sex and actively prevent procreation. The very reason why there is sex is because of procreation. You divorce it of its meaning and therefore alienate yourself from meaning itself and thus from God. Now reality is there to serve your pleasure. People who cannot have children are different, as they are not actively preventing procreation. I would assume they are still called to go to the medical professionals to try to solve the issue.
But if you chose not to have children, the church demands that you live s celibate life, indeed. You frame this as a condemnation but the church would say that sex doesn't have a purpose in that case and ought to be avoided. Also you should not get married if you chose not to have children as again you divorce marriage from one of its attributes.
The teaching is actually very simple and appears very coherent to me. It is very much in line with the idea to not value the worldly things as much and store treasures in heaven.

    Always Remember Adoption.
Many abort, thinking "If I go through pregnancy I will wish to keep the child." But remember how damaging murder, in you and of your own flesh is to the soul and an act of the worst violence against God, it is not an option. If you cannot or will not keep your child, your only other option is adoption, nad it is NOT selfish to go thta route, believe God when He says that. Amen. "Children are a reward to you from God." Give forth your child to someone God is pleased with, and He will not punish you for doing thta, at times, God uses you to bless others and to rewrad others. Amen. Please, consider this from my soul, to your soul. God is pleased with cheerful givers, He is the giver of Life and you will not kill your soul in the process, rather you will give the gift of Life in doing so. God bless you all, Amen

Interesting... i have always seen Lev. as a nation-building tool, and it's all about THE NUMBERS. If it weren't, why does the Book of #s immediately follow it to demonstrate how following the Lord's game plan increases yield, right? Wrt men lying w/men, simply put, it doesn't on its own yield a kiddo. (Nothing explicitly stated bout the ladies, fwiw... and strangely today we see reptiles able to reproduce without fertilization; it is increased heat that allows the embryo to proceed.) Wrt shellfish, they are BOTTOMFEEDING and thus creatures of FILTRATION - why would u want to eat that (even tho its plentiful & easy to to). Wrt mixing seeds, u see in foods that some seeds deplete soils to the detriment of others, thus yield is hurt. (Here what is not elaborated is that the INVERSE can be true, like how corn and beans grow better TOGETHER.) Let's remember that scrolls could only be so long so... condensed thought factors into the written composition...

Trent has several videos where he specifically discusses Fr. James Martin and his ministry. His distaste for Martin’s work is no secret. But Fr. Martin isn’t nearly the only priest who (deliberately) says confusing things regarding the Church’s teaching on homosexuality. Why single him out when it’s a much bigger problem than just one Jesuit priest? Many of the viewers likely personally know a priest who does the same thing.

He does call him out by name at the end of this talk around 58 minutes into the talk. So....

Mr. Horn, I always appreciate people trying to explain the Bible to others. I am Catholic and am always trying to expand my perspectives. Unfortunately many people like you fail to understand or explain that most of the Bible can be interpreted any way a person chooses. That is particularly true of the old testament. The new testament is much more straight forward. Read the Gospel of Mathew in particular. The Sermon on the Mount clearly explains how Jesus wants people to behave. Jesus spoke at great length about Love, forgiveness and religious hypocrisy. he did not address sexual behavior.

Where does the Bible say you can interpret it as you please? And furthermore, what about 1 Corinthians 6:9, and other verses where Paul condemns such practices? Not to mention the Old Testament.

I’m not sure you know this, but the Catholic Church rejects the notion of sola scriptura. The whole point of the Magisterium’s existence is to definitively teach matters of the faith so Catholics aren’t left to interpret Scripture by themselves. The Bible was not intended to be the sole source of divine teaching.

It is easy to forget that our church does not make the rules for over 90 percent of the world. Many people read the Bible. And see things differently than you or I or our church.

@@johnhancock9384 Certainly. But that doesn’t make their interpretations correct. Especially when they directly conflict with other parts of Scripture.

We cannot pick one verse & interpret we have to take the whole Word. The greatest commandment Jesus taught us is Love the Lord thy God with all your heart, mind & soul & then love your neighbor as yourself..its not vice versa. Unless you love the Lord & follow his commandments first one cannot pretend to love their neighbor.

Horn's immodest homophobia is sickening, and his lame attempt to justify the hypocrisy of selectively drawing on OT primitivism as a guide for behavior is not at all persuasive.

He isn’t funny, but I don’t know why anyone would be hateful towards him. I think he does a pretty good job. I’m not Catholic or heterosexual.
