    I guess it’s a good…thing.. that there’s a freshly renovated bathroom and all y’all can harp on is the toilet paper.. 😂😂
    For the record, we’re toilet paper in the front people 👍🏼

      Without kids, in the front is the way to go. Great job guys. When you're a problem solver and refuse to give up, you improvise til it's done.

      Hi guys !, I just recently installed a vanity and sink kit with the drain, well, the instructions say not to use plumbers putty, but to install a neoprene thin gasket that replaced the plumbers putty between the ring on the drain tube and the surface of the sink, tightened everything up and there were no leaks!, great video!!

    What a great series, start to finish and long videos with quick upload time between them. Love how you guys not only admit when you make a mistake (as we all do from time to time) but you turn it into a learning moment. It's going to be great to see the new construction continue on the US mainland, but this was one of the best series of home improvement I've seen, two thumbs way up for the whole team, those on camera and those working behind the scenes.

      IIRC in video 1 they showed the limited options for drain and supply line placement, and this turned out well for all the right reasons. I'm soooo stealing the idea!

    • @Vintagebleu
      @Vintagebleu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did this in one of my own shower remodels and it's so worth it. Less issues with water stains and corrosion on the fixture. Plus you can reach in and turn on the water without getting blasted with cold water.

    • @Interknetz
      @Interknetz ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Vintagebleu So true. Thankfully we just have a flexi-hose one that you can dismount from the wall which makes it easier to not get cold water on you (bad for me cause my feet will get stupidly cold but thats another story...)
      Pretty awful design though when they have the shower controls in a place where you're gonna get wet, even hot tap can be cold initially of course!

  • @ClarkS963
    @ClarkS963 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Having to move the valve/handle to that wall was actually a blessing because it worked so much better that way. It's always nice to be able to turn on the shower and not get wet.

  • @ssgLunchbox

    You guys showing all the "screw ups" whether your fault or not are worth more than any video showing perfection the whole way. I always get so discouraged when things don't go just right thinking I screwed up. But when I see that even the pros have bad days, again their own fault or not, it is reassuring that I am as capable as I think I am.

    Nice job! I appreciate you showing and explaining how you solve little problems that most other TH-camrs skip over. Things like the light fixture screws that are too long, assembling the drain / trap and using the plumbers putty. Those jobs always end up so frustrating to me because I’ve never seen how someone with skill and experience do it.

    On some shower mixing valves you can get them with the water turnoffs built in. You take the trim plate off and there’s a screw for the hot and cold line to the valve. Makes flushing and maintenance easier and no need to turn off whole house water.

    Ouch - those channel locks on those nice nuts! That hurt just watching when all you need is a 5/8 open end wrench - or like you said, a crescent wrench. I once forgot to check if hot and cold were reversed and I didn't find out until guests used the bathroom. My wife said "leave it", but I just couldn't. I went to swap the hoses and they wouldn't reach! Off to the store to buy longer ones and throw the short ones away because I was done with the house. Ha - I did noticed the toilet payer and forgot to mention it. Good work guys. You are a class act.

    Excellent job with many useful tips that only experience may yield. As for the issue with the "D ring gasket", I thought about trying to using a fast dry gasket maker which, as you've seen, spreads like caulking or "PC 11" marine epoxy, which can dry under water. Being able to think outside the box, is, as you've seen, essential to winning and your team are all winners. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for communication, capacity, in following threw on issues some contractors miss such as use of "redgard", for added protection against water seepage, on that backer board. I think if the client would have wanted it, I'd have redone the door frame to either make it smaller or move it six inches over, if it was possible, without making more work then was needed.

    I did this with my bathroom vanity, except I didn't cut the vanity. I cut half of the studs out but left the bottom plate in the wall. Then added wood underneath the vanity to raise the vanity even with the bottom plate. They sell cool looking wood vanity tops that you have to cut holes and size yourself at home depot. Then I just bought a bowl sink and separate long faucet.

    great job but I did see an opening on the grout line at the bottom of the shower when first entering the shower under the block windows first tile in and some openings (holes) at the right side of the second tile following on through the left side of the third tile or so it appears. check at 32:03 and pause and look you'll see it

    Turned out nice and he really tested your drawer screw stopper with his old man strength. Nicely done.

    Excellent work. Think you should've covered the gaps on the sides of the sink, though.

    Put a light colored towel or a drop cloth under the working are when mounting light fixtures. If you drop a screw or a nut, it will be easy to find. Awesome job on the entire bathroom and some amazing MacGyver work arounds!

    You all are the sweetest. My husband watches for the DIY tips, I watch for the sweet father/son interactions.
