0:03 Eight months later, they don't offer the 1TB version now and the 512GB one is $249 which is almost double the $139.99 pictured in this video (512GB).
I also have a N100 machine (AK2 plus) here: USB Boot Batocera / Coin Ops FW via Win11 1. On what res & hz do you run scud race? On my setup, it doesnt run THAT good…🤔 2. what exact bios settings did you change for better performance? 🤔
I don't think that there is any other processor in it's class and price range that comes close to the N100 in terms of versatility, so the choice comes down to what the manufacturer does with it. Size wise, this is quite generic, with other examples of others with similar specs being available, albeit with lesser known names (not that GMKtec is anything other than niche, only a little more so to those in the know). Good to hear the exact spec of USB ports. Most models come with either 8 or 16Gb RAM, so this one coming with 12, if done to keep pricing keen, would seem to be a logical step and give enough additional RAM to cover the likes of those wanting a gazillion web pages open at any one moment. The fact that it is DDR 5 5800 is a big bonus as some still ship with DDR4 3200, so can make quite the difference, especially with gaming/emulation. Having a SATA SSD is not a bad thing but others come with NVME, giving somewhere in the region of 60% increase in performance. Nothing to sniff at, even if not factoring in particular processes that take advantage of it. 512Gb is generous though and expandable, although not able to add internal storage. WiFi 6/BT 5.2 is a plus. Some come with WiFi 5/BT 4.2, although I think that this was done because of a lack of Linux based driver support for WiFi 6 cards earlier in the manufacturing process. But, like other models of this size and form factor, I find myself wondering who this is aimed at. Everybody has their idea of what constitutes ideal but I do wonder how many people are likely to use 3 monitors and even take advantage of both Ethernet ports. In my humble opinion, a single Ethernet port (2.5Gbps?) would likely suit most, along with 2 x HDMI or 1 each of HDMI and Display Port (DP would be better through a multi function USB-C port though with added functionality into the bargain). That could allow better I/O in terms of the USB ports, where there could either be 4 or 3 + USB-C, rated at Gen 2 (10Gbps) speeds, as at least one other manufacturer has done. This would make it more rounded. Perhaps GMKTec could make a separate model in the same form factor to achieve this. 2 choices is always better than 1. There is no doubt that even though the average mini PC is still light and small, this tiny size is even more portable and/or discrete. The fan didn't sound too loud. The BIOS seemed, on the surface to be largely unlocked, which I do personally like. Good to see a Linux based distro boot as there are one or two N100 boxes where this fails. Windows 11 Pro is a little bonus. But then I look at an all important factor in a highly competitive N100 marketplace, $249.89 It is too high as a base price. Perhaps there are deals to be had via some vendors. Potential import duties/VAT and delivery may also have to be factored in. For under £200 I often see those with USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, USB-C for more than power (although I credit GMKTec for using USB-C for power, rather than a barrel jack. Does it support PD bricks?), 16 Gb DDR5 5800 RAM and faster SSD storage Not being able to add additional internal storage is not a bad thing for a PC this size, when you consider what is packed in, although I have seen mini PC's in recent times that actually have a pull away base that allows storage expansion, usually though 2.5" SATA but I would imagine could use M.2 2242 for smaller models. An idea to think about. Expand vertically instead, which could also allow for thoughts of passive cooling using large heatsinks (similar to what Odroid did with the N2+, making it a large heatsink). Whilst M.2 2280 cannot fit in this box, in my part of the world, M.2 2242 is way more expensive, so something that may be considered in terms of future value. The fancy light and coloured tops are fun but ultimately no more than gimmicks. Overall, I can see some of what they were trying to achieve but in other areas, I scratch my head a little. It is certainly competent in what it does but for me, the price alone tends to render it lower down in the list of prospective purchases. But a slight redesign and more competitive price could put it much higher in lists and minds. My consultancy fees are competitive too, 0£$ per hour, a bargain :-)

Excellent video 👍 Thank you. What are your thoughts on doing video conference calls (e.g. Zoom, Teams) on N100 devices like this one? Kindest regards, neighbours and friends.
Conference fans should be no issue at all on this. I've used the n100 laptop for a Zoom chat. The CPU power isn't that bad, it's similar to an older i5 or i7. It's when the computer needs to render 3d graphics using the GPU when things slow down and that's only really seen when gaming or using 3d graphics packages.

Wow -- I am looking EVERYWHERE to see if the RAM can be upgraded and can't find one review that touches that question. Onward for my search. All I need to know is if the ram is in a slot or embedded.
Alright, calm down. Just had a look around the board and cannot find any standard slot/memory. More than likely embedded / soldered to the board to keep things as small as possible.
That's an impossible question to answer. I don't know what your use-case would be (gaming, applications etc), or what you prioritize (price, noise, expandability). We also haven't tried all the mini pcs, and it'd be silly to point at one as new ones appear all the time.

They should be neck and neck tbh. The N100 chip is extremely low power. Saying that, the Chuwi N100 mini PC we reviewed probably have the lowest temperatures out of them all.
A LOT more value compared to the Pi5... The Pi5 board maybe cheaper, but then you need all kind of addons to get the same functionality. Well almost, because the N100 can decode AV1 ... so youtube 4k60 is working good enough on this one... not on the Pi5
I'm looking at this to run 3 monitors for primary school work word processing apps, canvas, Adobe PDF reader, etc., with 12GB of RAM. Do you think that's good enough? I need help finding a decent budget desktop that supports 3 HDMI ports to replace my HP all-in-one 2022 Model. Since you can upgrade those, it's 8GB and 1TB HDD; I don't use it for gaming because it's not a gaming PC; I have my PS4/PS5 for that, so no games would be installed. I refuse to pay a lot for devices because when you have to replace them in a pinch, the price of PCs goes up and down. So, with my 3 monitor set-up, the center screen will be for browsing, school, work, etc; the left will probably be for Deviantart and messaging, and the right monitor will be reading my school books and class work and forums.
Sure, but I wouldn't go any slower than an N95, N100, or N97 CPU. There are a few that compete in this area- Check our other reviews if you have time 🙂
N100 has more GPU cores, and uses less power. Generally faster. For the most part for Windows apps, they are very similar. N95 has a higher GPU clock speed. But having less cores makes it slower. N95 mini pcs are usually cheaper online.
Here's my real big problem with this for you Yes you can get it with the 12 gig and one terabyte but these are set up originally with the 8 gig and 256 yeah you can get it with a 12 and 1 TB but when you look at the price then it's really unfathomable it's better to just go up to the i5
You may need to reword this. You can watch Netflix in HD / 1080p fine (HD, only SD quality?) HDCP 2.2 is only required for 4k video on Netflix / copyright protected videos. 4K TH-cam we have no problem whatsoever. We need to remember that this is a budget mini pc. Stating that it's "pathetic" without acknowledging what it can do (for the price) is definitely unfounded.
@@TeamPandory I would love to reword what I have said previously. Not even HD video is possible. Prime Video says it cannot play in HD due to the lack of HDCP 2.2. If the problem was only 4K, but a 2023 PC that is not capable of playing HD video? My dear. If you can help me out though, I would appreciate it. I am not an English native speaker by the way.
@@franzgucktyoutube So HDCP 2.2 is basically DRM, and the GPU usually seems to deal with this. Amazon Prime has chosen to place this DRM on BOTH HD and 4K, while you need this for 4K Netflix, 1080p on Netflix is fine. There is a workaround if you have an HDCP 2.2 compatible unit (like Bluray player etc) and use a splitter. This can enable HDCP on your PC. In future videos, we'll be careful to test for HDCP, but we also need to keep our expectations in check. - Full Budget Mini PCs nowadays cost as much as a single CPU.
So as I watch this review, I come to understand there will never be a review on the performances of this mini PC outside games, games, games and games again and games again and again. Could you envision that your review may be important for ALL kind of PC users? Can you envision that not ALL PC users are gamers? Seems not. You young reviewers are so selfish and narcissistic. A top review that is of no use to me and surely thousands of other users. Now bash me, cancel me, block me.
Hey there, In this video review, we did system benchmarks, tested real world Windows tasks (Office, online shopping, streaming video), emulated other systems (while using a LINUX DISTRO (Batocera), and then games. Games is the main chunk of the video, but it is for good reason. Games have always been the drivers for faster and newer hardware. It is also easy to compare between other computers of which is the faster - be it on GPU, CPU or in combination. To add, Team Pandory is a channel in the "gaming" section of TH-cam, and many of our other videos are regarding games and emulation. To make a video about ALL things you can possibly do for EVERYONE is an impossibility. While I can make the very real excuse of needing to do this in my spare time (with a full-time job and kids, it's tough)... Are you even aware of how many things a computer can do? Talk about calling the kettle black here, but your sense of entitlement is off the charts and it is pretty clear cut that it's "destructive criticism", rather than the very welcome "constructive criticism". If you want an argument about the contents of this video, you're not going to get one, but if you would like to add ideas, we are open to requests.
Sir, no argument from me for sure. First, I'M glad you answered back. I have no suggestion to make after reading your response. It explains all very clearly. You're in for the gamers and as you want, it's your channel. It might be my fault after all. I should have known better: yesterday was all about emailing and browsing, todays is all about gaming. I stepped him to make you understand how a 'little older' guy than you may feel when looking for advice and stumble on such a nice video crunching numbers of frames and inundated with images of games. That's it, that's all. What you write is in tune with your age, your generation, your education and your POV. You answered with vocabulary and phrasing that I was expecting if ever you commented back which I'm very happy you did. Unfortunately, it is what it is: a dialogue of the deaf. As Spock said, live long and prosper.
@@racineurr.8924 Can it browse, email, and be used in the office? Yes, easily. You've thrown a lot of assumptions as to my age and education... Out of curiosity, how old do you think I am exactly and how long and what do you think I studied?
@@TeamPandory Oh I again. Assumptions? Maybe. Let's clear this out. First, I only can be way older than you. how long you have studied? Probably long enough to master computers and other sciences depending of your POI. Said all along that you freaking know your stuff. Indeniable. How old? between 25 and 35 which corresponds mostly to hard gamers, Too young, they play on gaming computer's friends they can't afford or in cafés. Too old, they buy overpriced and overpowered tech stuff and Bragg about it. If I'm wrong about your age, I'll flatly give it to you. I did "graduate", then missed the ceremony (degree: mixed multimedia studies), even then most of it was fumbling through the classes and learnt near-nothing in class. Simply put, university was a joke. Skills have been learnt on the fly, you can even see how much we have improved by comparing the earlier videos. (Seriously, don't ... It's embarrassing) Everything you see on this channel is more like an oversized experiment of playing around until something works. ... I'm over 40 btw, and was watching some Star Trek last night actually. Crazy huh? But as you said, the video is aimed at a different demographic. I'll try and make things a bit more easier to grasp in the future. All the best, Tim
I bought this after watching your video, I just got it. I'm new to pcs and emulation. I have a game hard drive but it won't launch Wii Wii u or ps2 and there's no sound? Hey thanks for checking out the video 🐱 Sorry I really can't say what's wrong with your 'game hard drive'. Perhaps download the emulators from the website and set it up manually? There should be a few guides on TH-cam if you're stuck.

@@TeamPandoryThe best solution is putting on an eye patch and sailing for the high seas. There's no crappy DRM where we're going.

Hey there,
In this video review, we did system benchmarks, tested real world Windows tasks (Office, online shopping, streaming video), emulated other systems (while using a LINUX DISTRO (Batocera), and then games.
Look a all the comments, everybody speaks the same language and add more strange vocabulary to me, I admit. Your interest in our conversation is nothing less than impressive.

So by the time I was at university, it was a joke and most of the degrees you could get had no real use in the real world.
It's embarrassing)
Everything you see on this channel is more like an oversized experiment of playing around until something works.
... I'm over 40 btw, and was watching some Star Trek last night actually. Crazy huh?
But as you said, the video is aimed at a different demographic. I'll try and make things a bit more easier to grasp in the future.
All the best,
Tim
I bought this after watching your video, I just got it. I'm new to pcs and emulation. I have a game hard drive but it won't launch Wii Wii u or ps2 and there's no sound? It says the emulators need to update I say yes then it just backs me out. Is there any initial set up needed for this pc to fix that? Everyone reviews it for gaming up to PS2 but for me it won't even open. Thanks in advance id appreciate any help!
Hey thanks for checking out the video 🐱
Sorry I really can't say what's wrong with your 'game hard drive'. Perhaps download the emulators from the website and set it up manually? There should be a few guides on TH-cam if you're stuck.
@TeamPandory It was a pre made hard drive it works on my laptop which is less powerful but not this mini pc, it freezes when I plug it in too for a while, opens straight away on my laptop. Think I'll return the pc. Cheers
@@andrewreid380Sounds like it's not providing enough power for the hard drive. It probably expects usb stick and you're giving it an unpowered mechanical drive or something.
You can try altering bios to raise to performance mode in the profile.
@@TeamPandory Yeah it's a 500gh plug in usb hard drive I watched a Video from tech dweeb on here and he had a hard drive plugged in so I thought it would be ok, no idea. Thanks for getting back to me though 👍
@@andrewreid380 you should also try another usb port. That might solve the issue.
