If you think about it it's less impressive than a Pentium 4 being able to run the original DooM. These are 20 year old games. When doom was only 6-8 years old when Pentium 4 came out.
Yeah not bad at all! Odd seeing Crazy Taxi without hearing Offspring or Bad Religion but I guess that's down to you not wanting a copyright claim! You're really digging these little PC's aren't you? Not bad considering the price 👍
Nice vid Tim, couple of questions if I may...is there any performance reasons to use Batocera, I'm using Windows based emulators and getting a solid FPS on almost everything, even in 2,3 or 4x res. Also, the little K1 I got is amazing (thank you for the recommendation, VERY appreciated) and I've left it on the 35W setting, but if I wanted to heatsink it, are there dedicated heatsinks for these things or is it a case of crafting it yourself....Cheers mate...That N100 stunned me of how much it ran ...Nice price too...
The reason why I'd ever use batocera is to keep the windows and games systems separate. There may be less overhead lowering latency in a Linux based system, but when it comes to the heavier to emulate systems, Windows is preferred. Things like Teknoparrot work great. One more thing is emulation station as a front end to go in and out of games. But this can also be achieved with retrobat in windows. Nice to hear you're having fun with the K1. I'd say it'd be a new case / DIY thing for the case rather than a simple heatsink / swap. It may benefit from placing a heatsink on the nvme tho. One more thing to add - use of super resolution should help lower the temps if you're concerned.
I wish you tried tekken tag 2 on cemu to see if n100 can pull it off. I'm planning to buy an n100 mini pc so could you please include tekken tag 2 in your test videos, thanks a bunch
Tekken tag tournament 2 needs a LOT of space and is a bit heavy on this chipset unfortunately... Will keep it in mind for the next sets of video so you have more an idea how they perform. Tekken tag 2 on wiiu seems to get overlooked. It's quite an interesting release tbh
Other than the frame rate slowdown with Wii U, everything else looked like it ran smoothly, but there was a lot of screen tearing. Is that from your image capture or something?
@@toutloffc1 what computer are you using, and which games? There are so many factors that could be slowing it down. Processor most likely, Cemu isn't that hectic on GPU, The N100 is 4 cores 4 threads. In order to have really good performance for PS3/Wii-U performance you need at least by minimum 6 core, 6 threads, the more the better up to a point. Get a cheap Ryzen like a 4500U for better performance.

@@hendrixkon1820 retro console emulation never required over 60hz, even for accurate emulation. 4k with integer scaling, and a nice scanline shader is where it's at 👍
@@hendrixkon1820 it's possible, but again it depends on the resolution and the output of the hdmi / dp port. If you use dp1.4 or higher, you'll be able to get 1440p at 120hz for example. It probably needs those shaders compiling. If you're using slower storage (not nvme) it may drag the game to a crawl. Try going round and then restart the race. Does that speed it up? Not ideal I know, but once the shaders have been compiled once it won't need to do it again.
Vulkan usually performs faster than opengl. There may be times when Vulkan gives screen corruption and will need to change back to OpenGL though, depends on the game and emulator.

N100 is proving to be a champ, especially in that $100-$150 range.

Nice compilation; just ordered one N100 yesterday, time to dust of the Batocera hard drive
PS2 and Gamecube run nicely on this (was looking to move on from my old Pi2 emulator), N100 looks the goods.
It's amazing how far integrated graphics has come where even the lowest level intel chip (or thereabouts) can run PS2 games at 2X resolution.
thats only because they need to decode 4k video smoothly
That's less on the graphics; all these lowest level chips needed was the AVX2 instruction set
but the thing found out is you to use the nightyly version of the ps2 emulator on pc to use vulken.
