    Solid quiver man! I’m 6”4 size 12 shoe and going up to a 8.75 polar from 8.5/149’s was like a skate hack for me. Now I’m about to step up to a 9” AH eagle with 15 in wb just to see since I liked the 14.62 wb of the 8.75 dlx boards so much.. especially after unintentionally going into a nose manny just simply rolling down a bank at the park and my back wheel catching causing me to slam super hard because of the tiny 14 in WB! Professor Schmitt was spot on about how taller 6ft + skaters SHOULD be riding wider and longer WB boards more proportional to your height and weight!

      Yeah my buddy from Colorado rides 8.325” to 8.8” decks. Honestly I can ride an 8.5” but it only works for me with 159 trucks. I definitely prefer 8.8”. At your height you will probably love a 9.0” and stick some 169s on there

    Yes, good luck! I am sure it goes easy for you. 6” is very good anyway and your drops from axle-stall are good. Iam struggling with those still quite a bit.

    I saw one video of dropping in on a vert. This technic helped my a lot. I mean just recently. Difficult to explain in writing. The guy just threw his weight straight down. I felt that we good for me and it feels really cool too. Like a vert- skater 😅

    Glad you have a setup that makes you comfortable, that certainly helps and allows you to focus on the trick / terrain. Coming back you had a lot of board design evolution to catch up on and one of the benefits of being an older skater is you have the $$$ to try new gear. Back in the day I begged my parents for a Santa Cruz with trackers and red Kryptonics (78a) for Christmas and riding it was like floating on a cloud! lol

      Right. It feels like these days there’s every deck imaginable. Which is great, but also extensive and expensive.

      Thanks for watching dude. What totally helped make this work for me was putting 169 Indy’s on it. The wider trucks and added weight really anchors me to the ground more.

    Thanks. Yes its quite ok now up to 4-5 feet. Above that not tried enough. Smashed my knees quite bad a few times trying those.

      Yeah 6 feet is my max but I’ve got a 7-8 foot locally that I’ve failed twice on but that was over a year ago. I’ll attempt that again very soon. Maybe. 🤔

    I'm in the middle of piecing the perfect board for myself too. I'm on a 9" blank with indy 169 and went through 3 sets of wheels until I got the spitfire radial full 58mm 97a. The wheels feel perfect. Until I find a pro deck with graphics I like I think I have a good setup. Going to change out bushings after I get some break in time with the trucks. Next board setup will try the 99a.

    I’v had only two 9” decks. Same indep. 169 trucks. This newish deck should be very good in general they say but I dont know. (A part from my very first deck. Used ”head”- ready to skate board. I didnt knew it was a kids board for under 10 years old. Had a mayor crash with it when 1st tried to drop in. I landed on my helmet😅)

    Great video, very informative & well articulated. The comparison between the 8.5 & 8.75 was key for me, not many people showing that difference so clearly. Like you, just getting back into it after a long absence & a great deal has changed since the 80-90's lol..The question I have is, I started back up on an 8.75 & I am finding it a bit big for my liking so I thought an 8.38 or 8.5 would be the sweet spot? The trouble is I've found a deck I really like but it only comes in an 8.6. Do you think an 8.6 is too close to an 8.75 & there would not be much difference between the two or is an 8.5 & 8.6 basically the same? Also all boards are popcicle shaped.

    • @StevesSkateXplosion

      Hey that’s a great question. I can totally tell a difference between my 8.5 and the 8.8 which is still insane to me! So small and yet noticeable. The 8.6 has gotta be darn close to the 8.5. But if I were you I’d probably stick between 8.25 and 8.5 to be safe.

    • @dudemanaric

      3SkateExplosion that's so awesome! I got 159 indy stage 11s coming. You prefer the 169s though eh? Any reason why compared to 159s? Skate on!

    • @StevesSkateXplosion

      Yeah the 169s on the 8.8 make it feel so solid and anchored to the ground for me in a way that 159s don’t. Granted I do use the 159s on 8.5 inch decks when I’m using that deck like the Casper or Dressen

  • @mutatedgenome

    Is it the 8.8" width that you like most about this deck? Have you decided that you prefer the modern popsicle shaped boards the best? Have noticed a deference in wheel bases?

    • @StevesSkateXplosion

      Yeah I’m actually surprised that I prefer a deck that size considering how tall I am, but the game changer for me was putting 169 Indy’s on it which helped to anchor me to the ground more.

    Does this have the steep kicks/ATV concave or the more mellow 3D concave? I have the SC Winkowski 8.8” VX with the same dimensions but the kicks are just too steep for me.

    What shoes are you rocking? Use Any riser pads or is the wheel bite acceptable with those wheels?

    • @StevesSkateXplosion

      I use vans, but I’m considering trying some other brands when they all wear out. Unfortunately I’ve got about 6 pairs to burn through first. And yeah, I don’t use risers and I haven’t gotten wheel bite in a long time come to think of it. Maybe because I keep my trucks tighter?

    Nice setup. I wonder if S. Alba is still involved in the designs of his signature boards? I just picked up a Heated Wheel "Ostrich" Deck, that's Neil Blenders company. Its a little bigger than that Resurection deck and its got a 90's shape. I still have to set it up.
    Anyway, great content as usual.

    A question: because just started 2 years ago, dont know much about decks. Maybe trying also Salba deck (if I can find it here) but how much my tallnesh effects? I am 191cm so I think 6’3” maybe. Long as helium 😅 legs. You think to Salba ok still? Thanks man!

    • @StevesSkateXplosion

      What sizes have you tried so far? I’ve tried everything from 8.325 up to 10.34”. But I seem to have settled into the mid to high 8.5 to 8.8 decks. But those only work for me if I use wider heavier trucks for a stable base.
