1:06 What stops you from losing weight?
4:23 Starting your weight loss journey
5:40 How to bulletproof your immune system
In this video, we’re going to talk about the best motivation to lose weight. Take a look.
The best motivators to lose weight are…
    1. Looking better in clothes
    2. Being around for the grandkids (longer life)
    3. Feeling healthier
    4. Reducing a health problem
    5. Moving more (avoid joint pain)
    6. Reducing medications (and their side effects)
Many things stop people from losing weight. Most of all are bad habits, such as snacking and consuming carbs and sugar.
Some people simply aren’t aware of their weight gain. Years can go by without really seeing how much weight you’ve put on.
The #1 motivator for losing weight is to buy a full-length mirror. Use it often to raise your awareness of how much weight you need to lose.
Others gain weight as a way to avoid attention. Unfortunately, gaining weight on purpose can be dangerous for your physical and mental health.
The best way to get started is to get on keto and intermittent fasting. Add in exercise when you have keto and IF down.
Exercise only gives you 15% of the results with weight loss. The other 85% has to do with your diet. Start with the diet first.
Use these tips to inspire your weight loss journey. Remind yourself of them often. As you get started, begin by cutting down to one meal a day. Then, focus on honing in your Healthy Keto diet. Lastly, introduce exercise to support healthy weight loss.

I was 418 pounds and now I am 203 pounds. I am happy.
    My motivations were...
    1. My father died of a heart attack and he was fit. and the doctor said it could run in the family so take care of yourself.
    2. I went to dorney park one time n tried to get on a ride and it took 3 people to help secure the belt. Most embarrassing thing ever cause everyone was watching.
    3. I love to dance and i would get tired soooo fast and i knew something had to be done.
    4. Got tired of not finding clothes that fit how i would like them to fit.

Great to hear. Also exercise is a massive boost. If you exercise for fun and use HIIT approach, with gradiated improvements, using bodyweight, you will not believe how much progress you make. Key thing is to visualise. When you can envisage this and feel the happiness you will see amazing changes. And visualisation takes a moment.

I’ve always been 165 pounds throughout my earlier adult life. At 36 I saw the scale at 190. I hold my weight all over and nobody would guess I was that heavy. So, I could have been content with that knowing I don’t look horrible at that weight but when I saw that number on the scale, I knew I had to do something. I never wanted to be even close to that number. Even being pregnant with my first child I only got up to 173. My knees start hurting while walking up the stairs and exercising. I started Keto 2 weeks ago after a long journey of researching it. Ive lost 7 pounds. Yes, it’s hard getting started, but I think the hardest part is having the patience to wait to see the results. We are so used to immediate results in life and this is going to have to be one you have to wait for. It took years to put on and may take years to come off. I’m glad I did it now rather than later.

I’m just trying to be more strict now because I may just be one of those unfortunate people that have to REALLY limit the carbs until I can slowly reincorporate them on occasion.

Body dysmorphia is very real for women. I’ve never been overweight but I’ve had to fight really hard to not gain weight and to be where I’m comfortable and fit into my favorite clothes. Over years, I’ve fluctuated 25 lbs back and forth, give or take. By the time I’ve realized I’ve gained too much weight and my clothes don’t fit, I’ve been in denial. And even times where I was at my smallest, in my head, I’ve always looked and felt exactly the same. My hard part is I give up healthy habits because I can’t see or feel the difference (even though it happened). The 125 lbs -150 lbs range has noticeably changes. But mentally, I could never see it.

It has helped her tremendously at lowering the amount of diabetic medication, but she still has it. She’s about to get her cortisol levels tested to see if she has high cortisol levels. I believe she has Cushing syndrome as it relates to high cortisol levels. She has no fat on her arms and legs, but still has a belly.

In the last 2 years i gained more than 25 pounds bc I changed my eating habits (started making and eating a lot of sour dough bread), stopped exercising,. Now I realise that I was in a bad place in life and was quite depressed. As Anthony Robbins says, a month ago I decided (in a moment) to get back my life again - what motivated me is the feeling of “betrayal” to myself. Now I practice yoga every day, do dance class 3 times a week, organised my meals again (I am lacto ovo vegetarian) and I feel I get back in track. Still as I am at the age of 47, I take it slow, I feel tension on my knees and do not want to hurt myself. Dr. Eric then I found your videos on youtube and they are great, thank you for everything you share, your voice is so calming. I am still taking sugar and not on keto diet, not on intermittent fasting but I think i will get there soon.Blessings.

    I am another patient #1.
Over the years I stopped looking in mirrors, but I did it subconsciously.
Avoiding mirrors is easier to do than what people may realize, because shopping for clothes becomes just a number, since clothes beyond a certain size fit more like a bathrobe than a swimsuit.
After starting therapy 6 months ago, the root causes of my low self esteem, self worth, and self hatred became clear. While improving my mental health, I started to focus on things I had lost interest in, and that is when I had my 'shadow' moment.
New Sub here. Been on Keto and IF for a month, and I am doing well. To not focus on numbers, I am not weighing myself.
I am having success though, because my clothes are not only fitting better, they are loose on me, need to go down a size.
With my therapy sessions and Dr. Berg's videos, I will be looking like a new version of me soon.

Dr. Berg motivated me. I was 237 1-15-21 now 206. I’m 34. Dr. Berg is the only one who teaches and makes good points. I want to get down to 187. Stop sugar completely! You will feel incredible. Stop fast food too. I cheated and ate McD’s this week bc I was getting an oil change and suffered for 4 days with anxiety. I am telling you. Fast food has to be one of the biggest contributors to anxiety. I am also doing intermittent fasting Thanks to Dr. Berg!

I remember how I gained so much weight after leaving college. I stopped exercising for I had no motivation to look my best, especially as my work place is male dominated. Now when I look back, I feel so damn silly for neglecting my health just because I had no ladies to impress. I am currently back on HIIT and am playing squash to lose weight. I guess the best motivator for me is good health. Nothing can ever replace good health.

The second story made my eyes watery because alot of things have happened for me to be how I am now but one of the biggest things is that I hated when men would look at me and try to talk to me. I hated attention from men and the hate I will get from jealous girls. I am getting older now and realizing alot of things so I was thinking about losing weight and start to take care of myself for me, my own health, my children and grandchildren one day.

what motivated me was me eating some sweet stuff while being 289lb, i was eating and just started crying and realized how bad the sweet stuff started to taste and how miserable i felt being overweight. i'm doing much better now at 190lb, it took only 8 month lose all that weight, i look much better, most of my health issues went away, i stopped feeling hungry all the time. all that without doing more than 15mins of exercise a day. all i did was have a really tight eating schedule and in literally 2 weeks i stopped feeling hungry, i feel like i could spend 2 days without eating anything, that's how better i feel. you don't need much food i realized especially if you eat the right food; you need a really balanced meal, a yoghourt a day, tea and some fruits at the evening. gl with your weight loss!

i just have no energy even after salt/electrolytes. i cant reach my fitness goals when i can only sleep on the desk all day. i cant function enough to put my shoes on, its a real chore. yesterday with family i had probably 3000 calories in high GI carbs and i lit up like a rocket and lived life to the fullest. how do i get this level of energy on keto? i dont want the slog, of getting out of bed just to eat and sleep on the desk, to rob me of my fitness goals

🥀 I began the eating habit changes a couple of weeks before exercises. I hadn't heard of intermittent fasting until after I was doing it, and it just so happens I was eating one meal a day. (Usually between 12-4 p.m.) I added a banana for the potassium, etc. And I would allow myself one snack in the early evening. I have been allowing one large cup of sweetened coffee with some cream, only after my morning exercise routine, & drink sweetened sugar free tea off & on. (Some things just weren't worth giving up. lol) I also am trying to remember to drink as much water as I can. I've been lax in this, unfortunately.
I began the exercises on 2/18/2021 & my latest weigh in (at my Dr's office actually) I had lost 21 lbs. So I'd say it's been pretty successful so far ! I'm hoping my skin will bounce back & "shrink" as the weight slowly comes off. But seeing as I'm in my late 50's, I realize it may be not as simple as that.
I do body brushing with a natural bristle brush almost daily, along with applying 100% aloe vera gel after brushing. Any other suggestions as to what else I can do to "coax" my skin into shrinking would be appreciated. 😌🙋🏻‍♀️
Thank you, Dr Berg ! I find your videos enlightening, as well as encouraging !! 🌹

I did the diet first; nothing radical just cutting out the seconds at dinner time. I ate the same stuff, just less of it. I cut down on my alcohol intake (mostly beer which I love). Once again not eliminating it, just less of it. I lost 15 kilograms. The biggest change I noticed is that I now have a lot more energy, and secondly my ankles don’t hurt anymore. I’m still carrying a little more weight than I should, however my life is much better.

    Two notes here:
    1) ths the mirror: I understand the purpose of it but ppl MUST NOT look at themselves with hate! They have the first accept themselves, the fact that this whi they are now...and that they have the power to change
    2) gooes back to point 1 a bit, the story about the attractive woman who gained weight to avoid attraction: losing will not bring a relationship; if one does not have confidence, d9es not have the femininity in her, then she can be anorexic, she still won't find a healthy, balanced relationship
Nevertheless, I love listeto dr Berg, he has great ideas and presentation skills, very simple and straight to the point

I found myself up at 2am this morning binging on KFC and in tears just feeling awful about myself. I needed this.

I did IT and OMAD before and lost a lot of weight w/o even doing exercise. I wasn't even active, i was just at home studying. I honestly believe what we eat is the reason for all the excess gain and i'm trying hard these days to go back to the IT and OMAD method. Ever since i gained 10kg, i worked out everyday, strength training and cardio, you name it! But i never really watch what i ate coz i thought i was burning them anyway... but i'm so wrong. I'll work hard to eat clean and do IT again. OMAD may have to wait a lil longer after i get used to longer IT. :) Wish me luck!

Doc nailed it. If you don't like the reflection in the mirror, then change it. Bravo.

Yeah, you don’t realize how big you are. My 3 year old snapped a picture of me sitting on the couch and I was like who is that? I am on a water fast right now, day 5. My face has spread and my back is huge. I didn’t like what I saw. I currently go to the gym and intermittent fast.

    My motivation was:
    - To survive
    - To set an example for family members who have health issues.
    - I want to die later, so my family do not need to take care ofmy funeral.
    - Even if I die, I want to be presentable.
    - I hope I can donate my organs if possible.

Before I had my daughter i had lost weight and kept it off for 5 years. After I had my daughter, it was extremely hard for me to lose weight. I tried losing weight and the scale just wouldn't budge, even though I felt great, and I noticed I looked smaller. And then covid came and I stopped working out.
I started working out the beginning of this year, but instead of using the scale, I started measuring myself every Sunday. I have been consistently losing inches. I have gone down a total of 23" all over my body, and 3.5" on my waist, since I started measuring myself.
Measuring myself instead of weighing myself has given me the momentum I needed to achieve my goals.

I always see myself naked in the mirror. You should always be comfortable seeing yourself like that.

It’s amazing how people treat you when you’re fat vs when youre thin. It’s like night and day. How to you not grow to resent people once youve lost the weight-after they’ve shown you who they are?

I was one of those ppl who thought exercise was more important that diet. Mostly coz Jennifer Aniston once said in 1 of her interviews that she eats whatever the heck she wants but exercises and adored her back then so thought, that must be true. I've now started IF and a 100% agree with Dr Berg. Diet contributes to 85% of weight loss. Exercise is only 15%.
