I feel like there is a very big difference between online trends and real life ones. I feel like a lot of trends such as the puma speedcats for example only showed up online or in major fashion cities like LA, Paris, London or New York. There seems to be a much slower trend cycle in less fashionable cities and suburbs. Or it might just be where I live who knows.
I agree! Ive noticed the same between the cities. One of the reasons I like visiting NYC is I feel more confident to experiment with certain looks that it’d never wear in my hometown haha
The trend cycle is interesting and the speeding up and microtrends have added to it. I do not partake in trends as I think "Would I look good in this?" and 7 out of 10 times it's a strong no. Still on the plus side I live in a very wet country, so the death of Gorpcore has meant a glut of Arc'teryx, Salomon, etc on the used market and dropped prices. Workwear is being hit too, and Carhartt clothing is getting more affordable. Both Gorpcore and Workwear are full of highly functional pieces, so I don't care if they are in.
Great point! I live in the northeast (US) and it gets extremely cold in the winter, I’m also glad that with the decline of the Workwear and Gorpcore trend came reduced prices because I actually need them for the winter haha
