I'm only 34 but I wanted to make sure I did all I could to avoid menopause symptoms. Going plant-based I've been able to reverse my diabetes, gone down 4 pants sizes, lost and kept off 70lbs, no more headaches, mood swings or GI upset! Thank you for sharing this with the world!

I suffered from hot flushes throughout my life and they've disappeared completely since switching to a whole food plant diet. I have no menopausal symptoms at all, quite the opposite, I am healthier and slimmer and more energetic than ever, and no mental fog either!

I know this comment is 2 years ago and I hope you're doing well, but I wanted to say SAME. I'm 37 and have been having hot flashes since 31. It's so severely affected my daily life. I've periodically gone plant based, but never as long term as I've been plant based/vegan now. I can't believe the change. I really don't get hot flashes at all anymore. If I have gotten a sense of one coming on, which is rare, it's as gone as quickly as it came.

I have been juicing fruit and vegetables. I have only had 2-3 hot flashes (without sweating) in the last week! I had been suffering with up to 8 hot flashes a day for 3 months. It also stopped the heart palpitations which were brought on by the hot flashes. Worth a try!

I experienced the same results when I reduced my dietary fat - my hot flashes went away...completely! When I eat too much avocado or nuts/seeds, they return. Bottom line, if you suffer from hot flashes (and other menopause symptoms) it's worth experimenting with your fat consumption. Praying it'll help someone :)

Thankyou for saying that. I thought he was crazy, lol. I probably get more "healthy" fats than anything else in my diet (trying to eat healthy, which am starting to get confused about what that is since menopause), and feeling like the hot flashes are killing me sometimes. You saying that is making me go and re-listen. Thankyou. Blessings!

A good hack for peanut butter is the powdered variety; I use PB2. You use 2 TB with water (more or less depending on the consistency you like) and it’s only 1.5g of fat (2%). So easy and tasty. I use it all the time in smoothies and on oatmeal.

I’ve come up with some wonderful ways to eat the soybeans, I put them in my tofu scramble for breakfast, I use about 1/4 cup soybeans with frozen berries, banana and lemon juice and Ceylon cinnamon and water mixed in my nutribullet will make an amazing smoothie, and one of my favorites is putting the soybeans in my air fryer for about 8 minutes at 375 degrees for a crunchy snack. I was wondering if others would share their favorite ways to use cooked soybeans.

I’ve been doing a whole food, plant-based diet since June 1 and I can see a huge difference. I started it as part of a Daniel Fast and kept it going because I felt so good while doing it. I have learned a new way to cook that is fun and maximizes use of the local Farmer’s Markets, have lost 10 lbs of fluff (I’m generally thin) and have not had one hot flash or night sweat since starting the diet. Thank you for your science-based info! It’s a game changer. I’m gently introducing this to my family and they are coming around more slowly, yet I’m hopeful they will at least reduce the amount of processed and animal products they consume.

I am a testimony of this. Other than my stomach palpitations I would not know I am on menopause. And this I owe it to a vegan diet.
What I have learned is that I have to eat slow and with small portions and to not drink fluids with my meal because they dilute the juices that help to digest my food. Drinking fluids with food can give you an upset stomach h. Thanks for this video.

I noticed some months ago how little oil or fats I was eating and was trying to add more like in my salads, as I am not fat and need lots of energy to ride my bicycle for 30 minutes to an hour to schools. I felt more enrgy from more pasta or noodles. I was wondering what to eat and with not too much preparation. I live in Vietnam. Any advice? I will try this. I don't know much about breast cancer but I did hear a US oncologist interviewed on an excellent podcast called My Menopause Doctor. This podcast is by a wonderful UK doctor ( Dr Louise Newson ) that is an advocate for women going through menopause and hrt. She has a few episodes focusing on breast cancer & menopause. Dr Avrum Bluming ( oncologist )has written a book called Oestrogen Matters. His wife actually got breast cancer but after treatment she is now safely taking hrt.
I am not saying this is what you should do or even what you can do. But it would be worth listening to the podcast, particularly when Dr Louise Newson interviews Dr Avrum Bluming and they discuss breast cancer and menopause extensively and try to dispell some myths.
Reading Dr Avrum Bluming's book Oestrogen Matters might be worth a read to.

No. What you should do is soak them for 24 hours, in water with some apple cider vinegar, then cook them. Of course if you have a pressure cooker it's going to be even faster, if not just cook them in boiling water. The soaking will shorten the cooking time.

When it comes to menopause symptoms, see a study by Lei with the title "The association between soy isoflavone intake and menopausal symptoms after breast cancer diagnosis: a prospective longitudinal cohort study on Chinese breast cancer patients." The findings were negative (soy did not relieve the symptoms). Another study has similar findings: "There was no evidence that soy food consumption reduced MPS among breast cancer patients. High soy intake may increase the prevalence of hotflashes among premenopausal patients. Our study suggests that soy acts as an estrogen antagonist in breast cancer patients." (see "Soy intake in association with menopausal symptoms during the first 6 and 36 months after breast cancer diagnosis" by Dorjgochoo).

Sophia El awad - First, I want to recommend Dr. Eric Berg's TH-cam channel. He is one of the best and has helped thousands of people all over the world. His research is not funded by Big Pharma, Big Tech, the Soybean Industry, or the Sugar Industry. He has integrity and his research is SOLID.
My first question here is: Why are they advocating soy when the science has shown for a very long time that we should not consume soy unless it has been FERMENTED and non-GMO. This is the way the Japanese have always consumed it.
The main thing with menopause is avoiding SUGAR & GRAINS, eating lots of steamed cruciferous veggies (not raw, in order to protect the thyroid), Wild Sockeye Salmon, Organic Grass-fed meats, Organic Pastured Eggs, Organic Pastured Butter, Filtered Water with Lemon or Apple Cider Vinegar, (fluoride removed by water filter because fluoride destroys the thyroid, lowers IQ), etc. Only Food-Based Supplements like B Complex - not synthetic vitamins which are harmful and actually cause deficiency, Daily Walk Outdoors - not excessive exercise, which releases too much cortisol (the stress hormone). *The reason it is important to only eat 100% Grass-fed animal foods like butter, beef, chicken, is because the fat from animals that have been allowed to roam freely outdoors and eat nutritious grasses, contain Omega 3, similar to salmon, and Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) which is proven to reduce belly (visceral fat). Our brain needs these good fats to function well ~ especially during menopause. By the way, the isoflavones found in soy beans can also be found in all legumes, but legumes and grains contain anti-nutrients like phytic acid which block the absorption of vital trace minerals such as zinc, unles they have been fermented or at the very least, soaked at least 24 hours - changing the water a few times prior to cooking. Knowing this info has been a game changer for me at 65. Hope this helps someone out there.

    • @margokerby1533
      @margokerby1533 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@smudge8882 if you replace the oils with "something equivalent in calories" that "something" could be the wrong food that triggers menopausal symtoms. The main thing to avoid is SUGAR and GRAINS which deplete nutrients and harm our hormonal balance.
Good fats from Wild Fish, Olive Oil, Butter, Pastured Eggs, Pastured Chicken, Grass-fed Beef, are wonderful for our hormonal and brain health. The key is only consuming fats from "healthy" animals - not tortured and confined animals that have been pumped with growth hormones, antibiotics, and gmo grains. Regarding fish, it should only be wild-caught and not farmed. Also, if we have enough Selenium in our body, it will help protect us from any mercury in the fish. Hope this helps.

@@jenl1107 We can get beta carotene from veggies but hard to convert into the actual Vitamin A which our eyes need and is readily available in grass-fed butter, like Kerry Gold and Cod Liver Oil supplements. I recommend watching Dr. Eric Berg's TH-cam channel. His research is not funded by Big Ag, Big Pharma, the Soybean Industry, or the Sugar Industry. He has helped thousands of people all over the world. He talks about avoiding synthetic vitamins which can actually cause deficiencies, and only consuming food/plant based supplements.
For vision, he also recommends BENFOTIAMINE which is the fat soluble form of the b vitamin, THIAMINE, which is normally water soluble and leaves the body quickly
Sometimes you just have to supplement certain nutrients when you are vegan but the key is to make sure the supplements are coming from real food sources. Hope this helps!

Chelsea Mae and Healthy Emmie are also great wfpb resources on TH-cam. After a few weeks I noticed my weight started to drop, eventually my set point reset to 124 lbs! This was a few years ago and I'm still 124 lbs. I started menopause 2 yrs ago following Dr Barnard's advice. Awesome experience, wfpb was a game changer for me.
