That was for a diesel locomotive…. That’s the appropriate sound for it. It’s not a steam engine.

Their factory in China needs to go back to having the trains move from station to station under their own power.
Would catch more defects that way.

Interesting that the whistle the worker is testing in the video makes a diesel horn sound.
Somebody screwed up in the original sound editing of the film.

I agree the quality is not there as in the past, but, don't blame Lionel. The model train market is shrinking each year because its core customers are getting older and cannot afford the higher prices that ALL the train makers are charging. You forget that Lionel products are not made in the US because of the higher wages that American workers demand. Those folks that worked at Lionel hurt themselves by demanding high wages on a company that was just barely getting by in the marketplace.
Face it, the model train hobby is slowing dying along with its customer base. Just enjoy what is offered and don't show your limited command of the english language.
Remember, there may be young children reading these posts.

doowop lover Very true about being “priced out” of the hobby. I tend to buy used Lionel items that are nice enough to use but not collectible, usually without a box or maybe a “parts engine”. Plus I rarely purchase anything new from Lionel simply because I cannot afford it. As far as the market shrinking, the kids these days are just not into anything that don’t involve a pad or phone.
