Thanks for the video. My neighbor recently gave us a brand new 20 year old 027 Lionel train set. My kids really get a kick out of it.

I put a metal cutting blade in my 14 inch. Band saw works great nice smooth clean cuts.

Cutting the track. For me with Gargraves and I think there were instruction back in the 1980's about cutting them. Was to use a fine tooth mini hacksaw and put the blade on backwards making your cut happen in reverse that you are pushing on the cutting in your normal forward cutting way, using the teeth at the wrong angle wrong. I eventually found a carbide grit hacksaw blade did a quick and clean job. Slower cutting then a blade with teeth but there were no bent rails with that blade cutting the track.

This video was made a year before Lionel stopped making tubular track. I wonder if Lionel regrets that decision? Well at least Menards is selling O gauge track.

Hello Bob, Regarding the custom track cutting block/jig you show in this video, can you please tell us who sells this? Also, which CTT magazine issue is this article discussed? Thanks, Gary

The track whacker is the name of the wooden jig. Just place the rails in the grooves and cut as needed. There are both O and S gauge versions and they are made by Jim Lyle’s Toy Trains, Box 99, Gap, PA 17527. You can’t order online, but he does have a website that shows this as a still-available product and current pricing: kulpritterpics.homestead.com/TINPLATE_TIES.html

Thanks Bob, but unfortunately I have called the phone number listed in the link you provided & also emailed Jim. When calling that number, I get a disconnected message. I have not received a email response, but will give it some time for him to respond. Appreciate the help you already provided. I did not see any mention of availability or pricing when I looked at the link you provided above.

What would be the length of the individual pieces of these tracks; this information is needed to design my own track layouts. Is these tracks are available in India.

You might have mentioned which accessories can be activated by an insulated track section. Not all your viewers may be aware how handy it is to use these in lieu of pressure contractors.

Is there any way to teach my juvenile pet Bigfoot how to run a train? He gets excited when I run the trains but hasn't figured out the transformer.
