Why such the religious uproar? A Mighty Fortress is my favorite hymn, and played by the best organist ever. Let's show some respect to Ms. Bish. This is by far the best arrangement I have ever heard! I love the trumpets, and the vast contrast she gives this majestic hymn. The point here is good organ music :)
What a powerful arrangement of this wonderful hymn of the Protestant Reformation! Lets us always remember all those who have suffered for Christ's sake!
Bishfan, On behalf of the American Guild of Organists, Thanks again for this Post. You never cease to amaze me. YoungOrganist, Too many Trompettes? Absolutely Not. I too am a young organist, 29 to be exact, a son to a Former National Councillor and National President and am a Current Regional Councillor. This hymn, which I can remember attending; in LIVE concert on Official AGO Business, is an arrangement that she wrote. This is her way of playing this hymn. Awesome!!
This week while rafting down the Colorado River, in the Grand Canyon, as I looked up to the majestic towering geological peaks above, I thought of this powerful hymn. Thanks for bringing a beautiful version to the tube. I LOVE Dr James Kennedy and his preaching. His strong stance for the Bible (Word of God), for Creator God, creation and traditional family is missed. I loved his brilliance as he taught about our Judeo Christian heritage. This version of the hymn has a sense of royalty and pomp. Jesus is our King of Kings. Creator Trinity is the Ruler over the universe. Thank you God for creating the beauty of our earth. Thank you God for our ultimate coming victory over all evil. We read in the book of Revelation, we win, as the Bride of Christ, as believers in our Lord and Savior. Yes, God is our solid Rock and Hope.
I am a sixty-nine year old organist. I have listened and viewed Ms. Bish's performances for years and appreciate her love which eminates from every fibre of her being. A dear friend of mine once told me that it takes a genius to create a monument......any dog can come and piss upon it. Bravo Diane Bish! You are a monument and inspiration to organists who truly appreciate your contribution to people everywhere! Bless you dear sister!
I absolutely love this arrangement of "A Mighty Fortress". I love how it shows the five sets of Trompette en Chamade and the many different colors of that magnificent instrument!
let us pray for the church and all the issues she is facing that she may stay rooted in the bible and that the ways of the world may not overcome her amen
Thank you Bishfan. You recognize a genius. What you are doing will preserve this unique material forever, Basically! Ms Bish's work should be digitally immortal. What a world we've c r eaten! Ms Bish is as good as our best in bringing Bach to life. How humbling
Just Beautiful! I wasn't aware that Diane Bish left Coral Ridge. Someone has a job filling her shoes. I watch the Joy of Music and seem to see a lot of repeats. At least now I know if we don't get satellite much longer I can find her on UTube. Thanks for sharing your gift.
I think we should just focus on this lovely music that this woman is playing! Save the theological arguments for another place. I'm done with arguing. This is one of my favorite hymns, I wish we sang it in church. Go Lutherans!
I am an ELCA from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (October 25), I played this as the opening hymn, since it is Reformation Sunday. It is #504 in Evangelical Worship. Just thought I'd share.
EXACTLY ! People have been saved by the Catholic Church decades before the New Testament was even written. In fact, it was a Church council, the Council of Carthage, presided over by St. Augustine and approved by Pope Boniface, that defined what the Bible is! The Catholic Church OWNS the Bible. Bravo, friend.
What makes this vid really stand out is the use of picture in picture of the pedalboard action superimposed over playing on the manuals. Oh that we could have that on ALL organ videos.
The antiphonal Trompette en Chamade is definitely the loudest on the entire organ. It is meant to be heard over all 117 ranks of organ. I think it is called Trompette de Fete. I had a friend I was in college with that used to be senior organist there after Diane Bish left. The Trompette en Chamade ranks up front are more for use as part of the reed chorus but certainly do make a statement.
sngtenor From my experience from listening to her at Coral Ridge in person, the antiphonal trumpets could not possibly play against the full organ. They are far closer to an echo. The loud, fiery trumpets used against full organ is the en chemade rank forming a star at the center of the instrument that sit on much higher wind pressure. The antiphonal tank is hardly, if ever, used. I saw her in person this month. They were used for one measure in the finale to echo the other trumpets.
@dwarrren9 Correct. Not composed by, used by ----> The tune has been used by numerous composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach, as the source material for his cantata Ein' feste Burg ist unser Gott, BWV 80.

God has given His priests the power to transform bread and wine into the very substance and being of Jesus Christ; He has given them the power to absolve even the greatest sins; He has given us the right and the command to consume His own flesh and blood. These mysteries surpass all human understanding, and even the angels tremble before them. Yet, indeed, God has the power and the generosity to bestow these things upon us.
If it was a righteous and flawed religion then Martin Luther would not have found that the bible was only in Latin and not available in the language of the people. ML was the first to translate the bible into German, he was first to recognize you don't need to do good deeds to get into heaven, it is through God's Grace alone.
I believe you are referring to the draw knobs on either side of the manuals, or keyboards. To answer, each draw knob activates a rank, or set of pipes of a particular voice of the organ. They control each function starting on the left with the pedal voices then move from left to right controlling the bottom manual and to the left controlling the top manual.
Yes, I certainly understand. It is difficult to believe that you should confess even your most private or shameful faults to a mere man in order to obtain forgiveness. God forgives any sinner who is sorry because he loves God. We call this sorrow Perfect Contrition. But "Confession" remits sin even if the penitent is merely afraid of hell. (That is called imperfect contrition or attrition). So the priest literally has the power to "loose" such sinners of their sins. It is a special gift of God.
I find it interesting and innovative. Despite that, I will always take the good old version (rock solid like the subject matter) - hands down, any time.
Confession is REQUIRED for Catholics--I need to make that clear. When they commit any grievous sin, they are required to confess it as soon as reasonably possible. But I suppose you could say it is a reassurance--especially for when you are about to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, which MUST be done worthily.
Any idea where I can find the exact sheet music to this? I bought the "Diane Bish Organ Book" Volume 1 for this, but sadly the arrangement in the book was shorter than this, and missing several sections.
in the Christian faith we have the Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God was created in Human form, his son Jesus Christ, so if there is a statue of Christ in our churches then it represents the human form of God so Johann was correct, we do not bow to the image, that statue, but we know it represents the human form of God, Jesus Christ, our Savior. That is why we say in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit before we say our prayers or end our prayers. Amen. Have a nice day.
ruffatti made a mistake. Trompeta Real is always supposed to be enclosed, not en chamade. tis okay though, but Trompeta Batalla would be the appropriate name for that en chamade rank
The Bible does not literally say that God gave his disciples power to forgive sins, as far as I remember. But again, would that be so hard to believe if even the ancient Jews had to confess their sins to the priest? God through His Church requires "Confession" because it actually makes forgiveness more certain for sinners, among other reasons. The priest is Christ's representative and minister under the New Law. The men within the God's Church are often sinners, true, but all men are. :)

This hymn has been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager and still is. It's a powerful hymn, especially on a pipe organ.
What a powerful arrangement of this wonderful hymn of the Protestant Reformation! Lets us always remember all those who have suffered for Christ's sake!
If you were orthodox you would be suffering too for christ's mercy.
Beautifully arranged & PERFORMED! SO appropriate to listen to this on THANKSGIVING DAY 2023! BLESSINGS to you & THANK YOU for your MARVELOUS MUSIC!
She is an amazing organist! iLove listening to all the hymns she plays. It would be so awesome to hear her play in person.
This was my grandfather's favorite hymn and it was played at his funeral. It has so much sentimental value to me. Thanks for posting. :)

the church still stands even in times such as the times we live in

What a wonderful hymn. God keep using Diane Bish. your good friend Jose Merino
Thank you Bishfan. You recognize a genius. What you are doing will preserve this unique material forever, Basically! Ms Bish's work should be digitally immortal. What a world we've c r eaten! Ms Bish is as good as our best in bringing Bach to life. How humbling
This was beautifully performed. I heard a lot of trumpet sounds along with the organ.
Love this so much! always makes me cry. God is great! Amen
Outstanding work Mrs. Blish!!!
great hymns well played
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Who says every hymn needs to sound depressing? Bring the trumpets and celebrate Christ!
My absolute favorite Bish arrangement! The Trompette's sound is just awe-inspiring! Excellent!
AWESOME!!!!!
john 20;23 he gave us the power to do so but the forgiveness in the end comes from god
I always enjoy Diane Bish music!!!
When they were decent, Family Radio used to play her music
And that's where I remember this arrangement from
I think we should just focus on this lovely music that this woman is playing! Save the theological arguments for another place. I'm done with arguing. This is one of my favorite hymns, I wish we sang it in church. Go Lutherans!
I love the music of dian bish
very nice. I have enough issues with getting simple hand independence much less having to learn to dance in time on top of it all. Quite amazing.
They are all available on DVD from the Joy of Music website. These and many many more.
This is my favorite of her arrangements!
Listen to Heralds of Christ...played at Presbyterian Church in Ft Lauderdale, Fl.
I am an ELCA from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (October 25), I played this as the opening hymn, since it is Reformation Sunday. It is #504 in Evangelical Worship. Just thought I'd share.
I love the way she arranged this song. I like how it kind of has a march tempo to it.
Beautiful Diane

Love love💕💕💕! Outstanding performance!
I was at a organ concert and the organist played that tune of this song.
Wow i love the organ
From 2:30 brilliant gavotte. Final chords jubilant. This charm I ng woman is an American genius unsung
I once heard an amazing church organ at Bethlehem Lutheran in West Dundee played by organist Gary Lichardt.
god forgives us but it is through the priest that he does so
thank you, Dian Bish.
@ifuliki This organ is in Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I have heard it live and it is really awesome.
Outstanding!
What makes this vid really stand out is the use of picture in picture of the pedalboard action superimposed over playing on the manuals. Oh that we could have that on ALL organ videos.
I don't remember the exact date, but it was some time in the late 90's. She left because she wanted to focus all of her energy on the Joy of Music.
This is my favorite song. I have heard your music played on Family Radio when it used to be halfway decent.
God Bless You...for sharing
Many. I have a Spanish piece played by her on a Spanish organ in Spain. See "Sonata De Clarines".
What a wonderful hymn. God keep using Diane Bish. your good friend Jose Merino

I would love to hear you play.....
excellent
Nice running into you on TH-cam!
Take care, and God bless you.

Davey and Goliath!!!!!!!

And on that cheery note....
uw voeten en handen brengen en getuigen van de liefde van de heer
This is indeed a wonderful recording of Martin Luther's "Battle hymn of the Reformation". Only JS Bach's cantata surpasses this in elegance and power.
I love reading mark 16:16

That's what I'm talking about!
One of my favorite female organists.
the quiet trumpets are those ones on the side, the loud trumpets are in the middle, there that was easy
Lutherans believe in confession and do it often it is sad no one goes to confession anymore
amen este himno cantare hoy

if they go straight to god there is nothing wrong with that but it is good for the soul to go to confession
I'd love to have the sheet music of that arrangement. Could anyone please tell me how to buy a copy? Thanks.

Fantastic as Always Diane
What are the Buttons on the Ruffatti Organ "cheeks" used for ,I have not seen anybody use them in person on a video?

onde estas agora Senhora ?

god can do it and did do it john 20:23
I have a "homemade" clip of Joy and Diane playing together. See "2002 Joy of Music Alaska Tour Part 2".
I find it interesting and innovative. Despite that, I will always take the good old version (rock solid like the subject matter) - hands down, any time.
There's definitely some 32' stop(s) on the end.
but remember the bible is very important in the life of a Christian

@steffeni Which one? He wrote over one hundred.
Has she ever done any Spanish or Italian Baroque pieces?

So many keys?
within the rosary it is the mysteries you meditate upon that is important. god does not mind how we pray
is god powerful enough to make a priest hood to provide his forgiveness or is he not powerful enough to do such a thing?
what website did you get this from?
How does her organ sound like on the ones on a funfair? Lol
to godsprince24: have a nice time worshiping the bible:)
0:46
I meant to ask my question to godprince244 to prove confession
one man (martin Luther) started the reformation and a new church so that bible verse applies to you a lot more.
if Jesus gave permission then im okay with it
