    This was an absolutely incredible performance by miss bish, who being the worshiper, and vessel of God that she is, completely immersed herself in the spirit of the composition!!! The combination of miss bish and this great instrument, was truly a meeting of the Titans!!!!!!!

    Simply awe-inspiring. The organ, the composer and the organist. I wonder whether Handel ever imagined his Water Music sounding so grand.

  • @CaptJackAubreyOfTheRoyalNavy
    @CaptJackAubreyOfTheRoyalNavy 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Wow! The grandeur of that sound has such impact even through a TH-cam upload of an old video tape recording. I can only imagine what that sounds like in person... And what impact a grand church organ like this must have had on listeners in the old days, when there was no audio recording, or noise pollution, and this was one of your only exposures to music, or even to sound of this volume. It must have inspired feelings of divine communion.

    Thiss is an absolutely magnificent performance that shines despite being an abysmal VCR recording (the format itself being to blame), then compressed to death by YT. It's almost like a good novel. But instead of pictures in your head, this creates the idea of amazing this must have sounded vor Ort.

    Diane obviously enjoys playing thus wonderful instrument, & in so doing, brings every note she plays into joy & harmony, as she progresses through her music piece., especially during this particular melody.

    This gave me goosebumps. Very nice work. I can only imagine the effect in person or in quadraphonic sound, so the listener could distinguish which organ was playing. I think Bach would be proud.

    This was played as the recessional at my wedding. When I was in college choir, one of our directors was also an organist and played this piece often at the end of our tour concerts. We affectionately called it "The Superman Song". (To be honest,none of us really knew the title but we all loved the energy!)😂

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING
    Ms.Bish still one of the finest organists in 2 centuries.....I miss hearing her on PBS on Sundays, I always enjoyed her commentary on the organs and locations.
    I have had a chance to visit several of the churches in Germany she has played at.

    Understanding and having a "feel" for the speed and attack (more staccato, and having the acoustics add to your symphony) is a gift few have received.
    You were blessed with this gift in abundance! And ever so graceful. 🎶🇿🇦

    • @DejaView
      @DejaView 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this lady has to be among the best we have ever known in a field seemingly dominated by men, great though many of them are. Perhaps my favorite organ video of all time was a number of years ago when she & her film crew went to Scione (did I spell that right?) Switzerland to record the oldest playable pipe organ in the world. Don't know exactly how much of it is original, having, I'm sure, an extensive amount of work done to it since its 1390 origins & it's a relatively "simple" arrangement, having only a short single keyboard. After all in 1390 one didn't run down to the local hardware store to buy anything. Every single part from the largest pipe to the smallest piece of mechanical hardware had to be custom made, by hand, for its specific application. So, no point making the thing bigger or more complex than absolutely necessary. However the finished product is truly amazing & with whatever limitations it may have is one of the best sounding organs I have ever heard & is superbly showcased by Ms. Bish. Simply awesome!

    The sound this organ produces is just incredible. I speak 5 languages, yet have no proper words to describe how I feel listening to this. Small? Lifted up? This triggers so many feelings on so many levels, I come back to this recording every other week. Thanks for uploading!

    Nobody can play the organ like Diane Bish. I.hope she gets to see these comments and how much people across the entire world appreciate her immense talent and her huge lifelong commitment. Shaun Caton.

      I wish nobody played the organ like Bish, heavy handed, often rushed, her flashy performances are all show and no emotion.

      @@bobroberts6155 It's a mood thing. I'm looking at the details as a musician and partner in the faith. Different strokes for different folks. Only Jesus Christ is all and ever perfect. Perhaps sometimes we can touch Him.......but only for His Glory. Thailand Ears

    I will never get bored of this composition. During college I would sit down in the computer lab to work on assignments and just feel brain fried from studying. This song would jump start my creative thinking.

      then, you must know this is not the "hornpipe" but the "allegro maestoso", eh? why do so many trained musicians "stand by" this obvious mistake?

    I literally don't know who "Diane Bish" or what this show is I swear I though I saw it once while zapping through channels but man this is such an joyful and musical recommendation. I thought this show was on TBN, or one of those Christian channels lol. ♥ 🎶

    I am trying to get my head round "plays the famous 4 organs simultaneously". Are there 4 in the cathedral and are they somehow linked so that she can control all 4 from the one set of manuals? Or is this a sloppy way of saying she plays one organ with four manuals? Magnificent sound either way.

    My recording of this is from 1973 by the Royal Philharmonic & considerably faster. Then I noticed how fast Diane's hands are at work - the recording is probably sped up. Her's is at a march tempo.
