In a series for the BBC News website, Celebrities and news-makers are grilled by Matthew Stadlen in precisely five minutes. In this video, Matt talks to Ian Hislop.
It's comical only because Hislop is hopelessly incapable of adapting to interview pitch. He goes into everything in a 'political debate' mode, but becomes very defensive when faced with a more personal approach.
I thought the questions were better than most. Regarding his reticence about some personal details I think he's under any obligation to share more than he want to.
Hislop comes across as a person who’s never been in a physical confrontation.
Quel Surpris ! "Our" Ian reveals less than the other 220 people interviewed in this format !
Ian Hislop The Nation thanks you
The interviewer's questions are so strange, almost childish and nervous. Ian is clear not impressed, it's comical really
Ollie Jabore Because it's just a little light-entertainment fluff piece series for a website. They're not going for Frost/Nixon.

CAN BE ,SHOULD BE

I always feel if I was to meet Ian in person I'd be laughing before he said anything , he's just got that sort of face !
After what Hislop and Merton did to Angus Deyton I detest them both
Hislop.
