    There used to be a bridge what was about 1.5 inches to short to drive trucks under. Fortunately there was a gas station on either side where truckers could let the air out if their tires and just squeeze under. The would refill the tires on the other side complaining the whole time that the bridge was to Damn Low. A town gree up around the area since the truckers had to stop anyway there were some shops and restaurants. In homage to the bridge being to damn low the city was named D'Lo.

He has one of his Ole Red Bar & Grill there🤠It is also the County seat for Johnston County where he pays Property Tax for THAT PROPERTY that he & Gwen have used as a place to getaway from the crowds for privacy? He also has Lakefront Property on Lake Texoma in Marshall County. Tishomingo is home to the Chickasaw Nation. Named after what I think was a Chief Tishomingo? We share names of towns, counties & streets sometimes bcoz that was their Original Home before they were forced out in the Trail of Tears😢

    damn, even my dad can't say Picayune right and he grew up there, he says it like 'Picky-yune'

      @quita601 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cuz some people pronounce it that way. Some people say pick a yune. Depends on what part of town they grew up in I suppose.

      My dad gets his hair cut in Sebastopol. Funny thing is, two of my grandkids and their mom used to live in Sebastopol, CA. It's such an odd name it had never occurred to me that there might be another one someplace out there. If I remember correctly, both towns were named after the same Polish explorer. So crazy that after having lived my entire life in MS that I'd end up going to both towns many times. They're both about the same size, btw. 😊✌️

    Now try Saucier and Gautier.
    Most of these folks don’t realize the pronunciation comes from the melting pot of cultures and languages we have, not a lack of intelligence.
    Sincerely,

    Way I heard it, D’Lo was named because of its topography. Railroad workers revered to it as “ that damned low spot” when speaking to each other, but when in mixed company the left out the swear.
