    Hi Becky,
If you want to enjoy your tulips for a longer time without them growing in length, take a clean needle and poke a hole in the stem, just under the head of the flower.
It stops the growth, and you can enjoy your tulips for a longer time.
Cut the bottom part of the stem, so there is a fresh cut so the flower can absorb the water and nutrients if you have those.
Don't put them in direct sunlight, and give them after a few days fresh water.
You can have those tulips standing for up to 2 weeks.
    Enjoy! 🌷
Saying "hi" from the Netherlands! 🤗 🇳🇱

One Christmas our family and our
      neighbors made tamales. We had
assembly line and each of us had
a hand in making them It was such
a fun time and got to take a plateful
      of tamales home!

My closest Winco in Longview doesn’t have star anise either! 😢 They also don’t have rice paper. I spent yesterday making 150 bbq pork and chicken egg rolls and spring rolls to stock up the freezer (they’re awesome in the air fryer).
Thanks for your garden inspiration. I’ve been following your seed planting plans, since we live close and have the same weather. I just got my 4-raised garden beds in, and am so excited for the next few months!
    Happy Spring!

Jicama is great to keep on hand. It picks up the flavors of other foods, so is good to extend an item without adding a lot of calories like with a starch. I add to cole slaw and other cold deli salads.

I just discovered cabbage in the last few years and I am 57 now which is ridiculous. Not my age, but that it took me this long to discover cabbage. If you eat it fresh or just sauté lightly, it’s so delicious and crunchy and wonderful. . .not sure how it got a bad reputation with me. I know my parents never made it so it was probably just a little bit of a mystery.. wait wait I just remembered my mom used to make some Weight Watchers cabbage soup and I guess that made it diet food. My childhood and diets probably turned me off the idea of cabbage for 50 years. Crazy😊

Becky, I live in Florida and this morning I found 3 sugar snap pea pods that have formed.🎉 This is my first time trying and I’m SO proud of them.👏 Thank you SO MUCH for giving me the courage to grow them. I also have a huge bag of Roma tomatoes in my freezer so I can make sauce. I tried cayenne peppers last season and I got no germination. I planted 2 and not only did they germinate but they are growing.🎉🎉🎉 I plan on making hot sauce with them. Yes. Bean sprouts start to wilt and get mushy/slimy quickly. Ask me how I know.🤣😂 When you don’t need a full jar of spices try looking for the brand Badia. They sell spices/herbs in a small package. I buy them in those instances. I make Chinese food once a week. I love going to the Thai market I have down the block from my house. We don’t really eat out (I’m too picky with food) so I make the dishes we like from takeout.😊 I love those glasses but we have wall to wall ceramic tiles in our home so no go. Lol😉 Ooo my cherry tomatoes have been abundant. I’m making bbq ribs for dinner tonight. I already have them out of my pressure cooker. I have 3 wind chimes in my yard. They’re great because we get hurricanes here and I can hear when the wind is picking up. I can’t wait to see what you make. Tfs. Have a wonderful afternoon.🤗

Just as an FYI, Jicama is pronounced Hick-a-Ma (if that makes sense) Another place to look for star anise is in the Hispanic food section. That area has all the dried peppers. That section often has dried cumin, cinnamon, marjoram, anise, and sometimes that conical shaped sugar (piloncillo ). You never know what spices that they have though, so plan accordingly.
