      For that price it's absolutely worth it! For me I got a pixel 8 with upgraded storage for under $500 with tax included. No brainer for me, but if I'd seen that 8a deal I might have taken that instead, you get the same specs as pixel 8 and 7 years of promised updates with strong cameras. You're not really missing hardly anything tbh. Compare that to the current iPhone SE and it's hilarious

    Glass in the back is stupid. Only adds weight and forces the user to cover it to protect the device and their investment. Plastic is the ideal material.

    • @tjw6550
      @tjw6550 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree - partially.
      Glass on the back is a reason for me to not buy a phone - but the best material in my eyes is aluminum. My 2018 200€ Huawei Psmart had an aluminum back. Its extremely durable, lightweight and dissipates heat better than plastic.

      @Oldasianguy Im not an engineer designing phones, but I didnt have any issues with with my 2018 PSmart. To be fair though: the top and bottom of the phones back had some small plastic strips - antenas probably behind that. But still much better than glass imo.

    If I'm going to spend £500 on a phone that I want to last for a few years, then there's no way I'd risk there being "hardly a mark on it," after a month. Like all my phones, it'd go str8 into a case and I'd slap a Screen Protector on it on day 1! 😉😉

  • @Tommy-qe6fh
    @Tommy-qe6fh หลายเดือนก่อน +12

    Ive had the pixel 8a for 3 days and my thoughts are
    1. The bezels are bigger than in the video
    2. Like the S24 ultra and ipad pro, at low brightness, theres a lot of mura, like nothing is the same color.
    3. The performance on games is pretty bad, lots of stuttering on easy games even like roblox, and i got way worse frame rates on pixel than on a s23
    Let me be clear here, if you want a good performing phone for games, pixel is not for you. Go with the 400$ OnePlus 12R (from oneplus website)
    4. The battery sucks on 5G, its fine on WiFi.
    5. Though the back is plastic and feels nice at first, it gets pretty greasy easily
    6. I love the colorr
    7. Gorilla glass 3 is very bad for this price
    8. **4K60 is limited to one camera, rhe main camera on the back, no other camera supports it. Not the front, or the ultrawide. Wtf google??**
    9. The phone takes literally forever to charge. Like 3 hours for a full charge from a 100w pps charger
    Let me be clear, do not buy this phone at 500$. I got mine at 200$.
    Also, contrary to the video, i was not able to get close up shots with this camera. The front camera is bad compared to s23, too

    Really liked the video. I'm torn now between a pixel 8 and 8a. I prefer the plastic back and more rounded edges and thinner camera bump on the 8a but like you said the slow charging is potentially a massive deal breaker, the bezels don't bother me either. So I was all ready to make a decision. On one or the other until I saw the OP Nord 4, and now I'm stumped again, although I think the size of it puts me off. Would love to see a comparison between the 8/8a vs OP Nord 4 given they are similar proces points

Overall s23 fe is a better buy since it has longer software support (it will get android 17, 7a will only get a16), camera is good and also has a zoom lens, it won't overheat during normal usage, and battery is much better too. it also has all the ai features the pixel has. don't even think about it just go for s23 fe. i regret buying the 7a

    I’m a Pixel fan, but listen to what I say here: current Pixels are trash! Google has went backwards since the Pixel 4 lineup and they keep having issues. Motorola offers much more reliable phones at way cheaper prices and their setup is damn near identical to a Pixel with many features those phones have. The only two downsides are lack of long software support and lack of IP ratings on all but the flagship models. The cameras are objectively worse but they’re starting to catch up. The upcoming Motorola Edge 2024(non plus model) will get many of the AI camera features like magic eraser, photo unblur, and others. Motorola phones are like using a Pixel without the notorious problems and with more customization options.

      The only issue with Motorola is support. Google's 8 years of support is outstanding. Motorola promises support w/o really saying how long.

      @DWtechfan หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thehubcapkid yeah that’s why I said lack of support is one of the couple downsides on a Motorola. But even then, their phones still work after updates stop. With Pixels, you hold your breath with each new update hoping it doesn’t blow the phone up, mission impossible style.

    Everything after Pixel 4a was a disappointment for me. The 4a was a true no nonsense and no worries phone. Compact, rugged, minimalist, GOOD fingerprint.
    Why would you buy an A series today? Seems like Pixel 8 is a far better deal for a little bit more money.
    The CE print on the bottom of the phone, instead of a removable sticker, is a tasteless cost saving decision. Even more when you pay over €1000.

    I have the pixel 7a and it sucks, this 8a looks to be just as crappy. The worst thing with it is the charging speeds and the occasional hanging on the system UI which you would think wouldn't happen since it's Google's own phone.

      I'm not sure what you're experiencing but I've been using my 7a for almost a year and haven't had a single issue. I've been averaging 5+ hours of sot before needing a charge and haven't had a single bit of lag or hanging.
