Another great episode. I did, am still doing, the same thing with a 1932 Jr. Int'l that I received in a box lot. I haven't done a count recently but I'd say it is about 60% filled. Nothing of great value but it is filling up a little each month.

Thanks for the episode, Ted. I really like the way you work, so methodical, clear and disciplined and in control. Starting with a proper audit - that is perfect. I also like the cover you made for the old album and enjoyed Karen's choice of stamps. All in all - time to watch well spent. :)

Wow, that's a alot of stamps, I didn't even realize there could be that many. Good luck on your stamp collecting.

Great content, thanks for sharing ! Yup, that´s the way how stamp collecting was popular in the pre war- aera, a lot of these items were soaked from incoming mail. Nowadays collectors like more to get complete sets, and quality standards are much higher concerning the price differences between u/m and hinged stamps etc. Hope you had a nice trip to Germany and found some great items in some of the stamp shops. Greets from GER, U.

It always seemed a stamp shop was too far away from where I was, at any given time, and I didn’t want to drag my wife and daughter away from whatever we were visiting. In Hamburg, I found out there is a public library of philately. Unfortunately it was closed on Monday, and on Tuesday it did not open until 14:00, but we had to catch a 12:30 train to Frankfurt. I will just have to make another trip (we are already planning it).

Thanks Ted for this episode. Nice job you did with this old album! That will be interesting to see it’s fill-up.

Thanks, Yves. I would like to do a little bit of reinforcement on the binding to make sure it stays together. But I want to read about how to do that, so I don’t make things worse.

Can't wait to see you fill up that vintage 1935 album! So, are you going to keep the old school hinge method for this album? That's a very interesting project that will be fun to follow. Loved the top ten list too!

Ideally, I would like to use mounts, but they are so expensive relative to the value of the stamps. But, then again, most hobbies are not about the value proposition, but about the aesthetics, enjoyment, and the personal pride in making something as nice as possible.

i see that your back. for the stamp album if you would make it nice ,why don't you use transparent mounts for all stamps instead of hinges..i think it would look professional.

You are right about that. I think clear background Hawid type mounts would be very nice.
