A tip my chef father-in-law taught me: when you want to scrape stuff off the cutting board with your knife, use the back of your knife so it stays sharper longer. Thank you for your videos--I have watched so many of them since finding your channel. You give me inspiration for meals and cooking
Makes sense
I like keeping a bench scraper handy!
Becky, you are the chef version of Mr. Rogers for me. I mean that with the highest compliment. You have such a gentleness and kindness about you. I wish we were real life friends! I can’t wait to try some of these recipes! Thanks for all your time that you put into these videos. 😊
I love this comment so much! You’re spot on!!
I have to say that I love the “wait for it “ moment when the Becky Big Brown Eyed Seal of Approval occurs. I am not 😊trying to be patronizing. It is just such a truly nice event during these troubled times in the world.
Im fairly new to your channel, and i just want you to know your one of the sweetest daughter, wife, mom, and friend i have ever met❤
Girl, every time I see you have uploaded another video, I am literally shocked. You are killing it, I always get so excited when I see youve posted another video. But with your young family, large garden, extended family events and just life in general, I am always shocked that your able to pump out so much content. Please know I appreciate your videos, thank you for sharing with us.
Same here!
I will say, you have inspired me to do more. Your organization and sequencing really helps.
Same for me!❤
She's the Annie Elise of the true crime world. Check her out
Your eyes when tasting are adorable! I hope your husband appreciates you girl!
She has a true enjoyment for making good food! It's her love language!❤
I enjoy how she is thoughtful about her meals! Happy New Year Becky!🎉
Becky, my baby just had his first birthday last week and it made me think about your baby too. I just wanted to say, I really respect that you don’t post them all over the internet. I keep my baby private also to keep him safe. You are a great woman, mom, and wife. Your family is so blessed to have you ❤
I love that you use the mixing spoon to drizzle some sauce onto your tasting spoon to prevent double dipping, even if you’re only making food for the family. This awareness is lacking in so many other cooking videos I’ve seen where the meal is made for friends and ppl not in the household.
If you use carrot, onion, and celery a lot, you can make a quart jar of dehydrated/ freeze dried mixture and then you have a quick soup starter!!!
Becky, and easy dinner you should check out is a Scottish recipe called "Mince and Tatties", which is a ground beef, onion, carrot and gravy one-pan dish served over mashed potatoes. It is my family's new favourite meal. It comes together in about 30 minutes, and is delicious and thrifty. It is absolutely loaded dwith flavor. You and Josh would love it. There are lots of recipes online for it, since almost every Scottish family has their own slightly different version of it, it seems.
My husband family are from Scotland. I make this a lot.
I made potato hash with dumplings yesterday. So needed in autumn x
Have this regularly and change the vegetables depending on my crisper.
My great grandmother immigrated over from Scotland and we try to make recipes to keep their heritage alive. I just looked up a recipe and will definitely be making mince and tatties!
Have to agree with you from Scotland myself it's our names mine Jane Gibson
Total comfort food
Goulash is another dish that cooks in one pot. So hearty and packed with flavor. A favorite around here and so easy
I love those big brown eyed confirmations. You know it’s good when you see that expression on your face. You’re adorable! I love all your ideas. You’re doing an amazing job helping your viewers. Thank you for your service. 🥰
As someone who eats mostly plant-based, I really appreciate you showcasing recipes that can be adapted to a vegan or vegetarian diet. Thank you!
Same here!! As I watch her recipes I am always thinking of how I can adapt them to work for us 😊 always an inspiration!
The “hamburger helper” is really good with chopped mushrooms instead of the beef! I make it all the time ❤
I, too, have tried many of her recipes and conformed them to our plant based diet! So fun!
I was just confused when she said this was for vegetarians and then uses chicken broth. Also the thai curry pastes are not vegetarian
Me too 😊
You don't drop enough food.
Signed, your dog.
Love that one I bet the two of them do think that.
They should get together with Kenji’s dogs and form a union! Kenji does feed his dogs scraps on camera though.
I like to add the oil from the sundried tomatoes in as half the fat to cook the rest in. So half the butter and replace with a couple tablespoons of the sundried tomato oil to cook onions and chicken in. I also add a little garlic when the chicken is almost done
Just FYI Becky, the curry you made with the chicken broth isn’t vegetarian. But I so appreciate that you make so many things that are not meat forward. ❤
My family has a roster of about forty quick dinners that we really enjoy, and have found that really useful over the years. So I think you're doing something really good for your little family to develop such a wide range of meals that you can make quickly --- you'll be able to feed them frugal, nutritious meals that taste woderful. And that is a great act of service for your family. Well done, Becky!
Have you ever typed up a list? I'd love to see it!
Me too! :) @@ambethk77
I’d also love to see these recipes too if you have them typed up anywhere, sounds amazing ☺️
Me too!
@katiec3686 they are in the description. Just tap the more tab twice and the list comes up.
I adore Becky. She’s a breath of fresh air.
I totally agree with you! 😊
I make similar one pot meals and I’ve never had it the same way twice. I use ground beef, chicken, sausage, seafood or beans for protein. I use fresh veg or sometimes frozen. I use various kinds of pasta. But my favorite is to add quinoa for added protein. So many changes by way of spices, veg and proteins. I’ve made it an Indian spice palate, Italian or whatever I grab. I used to call it a casserole because my friend who made it for me did make it in the oven but I make it stovetop or instant pot. It’s so easy and quick.
Hi Becky, you are a dream come true, and Josh is the luckiest man on earth!
I absolutely love how the pups materialize out of nowhere the minute you open the cheese! 😆 Thanks for sharing these great meals with us, and for suggesting substitutions and additions. Great, great ideas and the execution is terrific. I had to go get a snack while I was watching! 🥨😁
I wasn't just watching her videos I was actually recreating and eating them but ketofied instead of all the high carbs pasta has though. But I got the ideas from Acre Homestead Becky.
Another important note about the homemade hamburger helper is that making it homemade reduces the sodium dramatically. The boxed version has like 1,000 mg. of sodium or something per serving! Other than cooking with fresh ingredients, you don't mention much about cooking for health reasons, but reducing the sodium is terrific! I love your creativity and confidence to add ingredients not in the original recipes. Your willingness to experiment gives me incentive to do the same.
I make homemade hamburger helper often. I sometimes put some of my homemade taco seasoning in it while it's cooking, and then top it with taco toppings.....chopped tomatoes , salsa, sour cream, and grated cheese.
To make this even easier I brown about 10 pounds of ground beef with onions, garlic and salt and pepper and freeze 3 cups( close to 1 lb) of the mixture in bags. Super simple to pull a bag out and use in hamburger helper, tacos, spaghetti sauce, shepherds pie, etc.
I have only recently discovered your channel and am loving all the videos. Thanks so much.
My husband who loves soups said this is now his favorite soup. Delicious
That’s incredible scenery out your kitchen window. And what a nice window to view it from.
Would love to see you feeding the scraps to the chickens ❤
I am sooooo sick of my own cooking. I really appreciate all of your ideas and I'm ready to get back to the kitchen.
Becky, thank you for this video. I do this most of the time. It's just my husband and me. I'm older and don't always feel like making a big mess in the kitchen. When I feel good, I will make up large dishes, divide them up into one portion servings and freeze them. But the idea of just having a pan, or two, is much better for me to handle. Love your channel. ❤
What sets Becky apart from all the other cooking shows is her charisma and her ability to do as she talks. I'll bet she can pat her stomach and rub the top of her head at the same time.
I love the recipe. I just had to add, you have so many followers or subscribers and yet you make each of us feel as if we were your guest in your home on a one to one. that is so sweet thank you for all you do.
Neat trick I learned from an Italian chef to make a stainless steel pan nonstick: Heat the dry pan until a drop of water rolls off the surface. Then add your oil (if using butter, turn down the heat immediately after adding it). Let the oil heat up before proceeding with your cooking.
Woman!
You are adorable.
I so love how you speak and show the reality of cooking and gardening. It always has something unexpected and you keep right on going. Even when something isn’t really good, you admit it and adjust.
You are so real.
Love those big eyes of approval your get. Makes me smile every time.
Well done young woman.
The hamburger helper recipe was delicious. I didn’t have any sour cream so I substituted with some cream cheese and it worked beautifully. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our supper tonight. ❤
Your eyes tell the whole story when you take that first bite! I love it! Thank you for sharing your kitchen with us. It's a pleasure to watch!
I love how you change things and adapt to what you have on hand . Also show sometimes you make a mistake with ingredients. The best part is it all works out in the end and is delicious.
Reserve a little of your broth to heat in the microwave to add to the coconut milk can to collect all that is left behind in the can. 😊
I like how efficiently you film and splice your videos so that we get them more often without being overwhelming for you (hopefully)😊. I imagine it takes lots of planning. Thank you Becky.
Thank you for saying gnocchi correctly 👍
Please take this as a compliment, your style reminds me of when I was a kid watch Mr. Rogers. You are so calm and relaxing for me. Thank you!
This could not have come at a better time. I am a PhD student in the final stretch and take out has been an unhealthy staple in my household because I have been struggling to get meals sorted for my husband and I. These recipes are super simple, quick and straight forward, I am going to give all of 'em a try! Thank you Becky for being awesome as always! :D
Tons of stuff on the internet to find instead of take out! Glad you are switching over! It took me a while to get in board and now take out is disgusting! Also, much cleaner since you washed and cleaned your own kitchen 😂❤❤❤
The face you make after tasting your creation…priceless and funny 😊 I really like your channel and your way of inviting us into your kitchen ❤
A long time ago I ran across a recipe called cheeseburger chowder which is basically potato soup with ground beef and the recipe called for American cheese. I'm not a fan of American cheese so I used cheddar and my family loves it. The recipe also called to thicken the soup with flour/water mixture, but my sister showed me a cheat by thickening with potato flakes instead. It's super fast and easy and a family favorite. I'm sure the original recipe called for other things to ramp up the cheeseburger flavor, but after all these years I don't remember 😂. I've used a variety of different things to tweak the flavor, sometimes spicy 🔥, sometimes savory. I've used venison, hot sausage, chicken. A cheesy potato soup base is an awesome start to a warm comforting supper.😊❤
You are an amazing cook! I’m 71 years old and have been cooking since I was 14 but I am learning so much from you. Thank you!
Love all your recipes. The curry ramen you should try adding one tablespoon fish sauce, it add an umami flavor to the broth! Yummy 😋
Add a smidge of Nutmeg to any Beef dish to really bring out that Beefy flavor.
I made the garlic chicken gnocchi tonight for supper and....yeah.... it's going into the regular meal rotation! Deeeeelish! 👌 Thank you for sharing it, sister!
I love seeing Orbit and Tibro in and out of the kitchen. So sweet 😊
Me too!🐾❤️🐾
Becky, you truly are an inspiration.
I’m newly retired and I’ve never gotten into cooking or gardening. This year’s garden didn’t do as well as I was hoping but hopefully, with your inspiration, it’ll be better next year. But I was able to make tomato soup from the garden, which was delicious!
I’m learning so many things from you, especially enjoying how to freeze meals and vegetables for later use.
Thank you for teaching us all so much.
From an inspired neighbor in Gresham, Jules
😊
Welcome to the gardening club! It’s addictive and I find myself saying, “it’s an experiment “ just like Becky, lol. I take the small wins and the rest as a learning experience. 😂
Congrats on your retirement!! My hubby and I decided to take early retirement 58/59 and we are just loving it!!
I am so proud of myself that I thought of adding frozen peas to the last recipe too! It shows I'm doing well if I can think of things at the same time as you do! I love this channel. Your ability to cook is something I really admire. You and Josh must eat incredibly well all the time!
I'm so excited to have found your channel. You are adorable, funny and authentic. I'm inspired, thank you.
I made my own sundried tomatoes this year. Freeze dried sliced tomatoes, put in a jar and add oil!! Easy!! And I made gnocchi, thanks to you! 😊
I did something similar... but I dried them in the oven and then added some Italian herbs to the oil yummy!
@@genrottluff1084 that sounds amazing, didn’t know you could go that! For sure going to try!
Any sort of recipe to follow? Sun dried tomatoes are so expensive, I really like the idea of making them myself.
Your very brave attempting new recipes on camera, good for you. New recipes is what we all do, I admire that in you, keeping it real ❤
ONE MINUTE IM WATCHING YOUR VIDEO NEXT MINUTE IM MAKING A CORN CHOWDER SOUP ....😮 AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW IM EATING A DELICIOUSLY TASTY SOUP !!! thanks for being great Becky❤😅
Becky you do a great job. I love this channel.
Did the gnocchi skillet meal, used sausage instead of chicken. I had two bak choy and a can of Italian tomatoes with zucchini for the veggies. Just a bit of parmesan cheese for the mozarella. It was incredible! And so fast and easy. Definitely a keeper in our meal rotation. Becky you are such an inspiration, you have refreshed my love to experiment and cook again!
In local markets are now "boneless skinless chicken quarters" which are leg and thigh attached parts. I've found they're the easiest, best, and fastest dinner!! I've fried, braised, baked, sliced, diced and just about anythinged to them!! The meat is forgiving for long cooking times and absorb marinade beautifully. Easy to trim excess fat so are healthy. They're a game changer for my family!
one of my favorite recipes my grandma did was baking chicken quarters with a slab of butter on each piece, sprinkled with some garlic powder, salt, and a generous amount of cracked pepper, slow roasted and the melted butter spooned over the meat frequently. OMGoodness, the tenderness of the meat and the spices were sooo good!
I love watching your fur babies walk around the kitchen waiting on a handout. Sweet babies.
I keep quartered lemons and limes in a bag in my freezer, so that I always have them on hand. The go a little softer when thawed but if you’re just using them to squeeze on food they’re fine.
Becky..love these ideas. It’s obvious you spend a lot of time figuring out the content you want to show us. It is greatly appreciated 👍🏻👍🏻
What a nice variety of recipes you've chosen for this video! The hamburger helper is a great family meal. Economical, delicious and no crazy chemicals and additives that come in the commercial version. If you want to change it up even more, use some canned tomatoes in it.
That’s what I was thinking. Ground sausage, spaghetti sauce & Italian seasoning.
Angel hair pasta sounds good with chicken and cheese!
My husband and daughter are laughing at how you pronounce gnocchi,we say with the g silent but we still love you for time and recipes and knowledge. Love from Geelong Australia ( the g is not silent)💜
What a beautiful fall view outside your kitchen window. Inspiration for some tasty comfort meals. I love your cooking, canning, and baking videos. The new house is coming along very nicely! I look forward to your holiday videos and videos of your home improvement endeavors!
My family loves homemade helper. I add some flour to the beef and onions b4 adding the liquids to make a thicker sauce. We like Italian herbs and 8oz of tomato sauce with the broth. Finish with cream and shredded cheese 😋
Noodles cooking in the pot with the meat/sauce is one of the reasons I like making Goulash.
The last recipe is right up my alley! Thanks. I think maybe adding a can of diced Italian tomatoes along with the peas would be delicious. I also have a similar recipe for a side dish using orzo cooked in the same fashion. Then adding parm and basil at the end. 😋
Becky, I got orzo to make the last chicken meal, but the link you shared doesn't lead to the correct recipe. You laid it out well enough in the video that I can follow that, but thought you should know!
I agree with you on Onion in everything! I have kept diced onions in my freezer for years and I love how easy that makes all my meals!! I finally invested in a veggie chopper from Amazon to help with the days I come home from Costco with a lot of onions!
My philosophy? If it doesn't have chocolate, it better have onions! One or the other is essential.
Which veggie chopper did you buy? Thanks!
I do too, makes cooking dinner so much easier.
@@jacquelinek5036100% agree
@@carolinaburgosaguilar1494 I have the Mueller 4 blade veggie chopper. its so great and makes dinner prep so quick and I love that its dishwasher safe!
Everyone of these meals sounds like something I would love to try. Thank you for expanding my recipe rotation!
Will be definitely going to make this happen tomorrow night 🌃🌉🌃🌉 but I'm ketofying my gnocchi
I didn't make it but I did make the homemade hamburger helper instead
I loved this video! I like your ideas for minimizing mess and dishes. Although I don't mind cooking messes (I am really good at making them!) sometimes it is so helpful to have go-to recipes that are minimal mess. Hey, Becky, that would make a great name for a video of 5 recipes--Minimal Mess!
The chicken Tucson recipe is like marry me chicken. 😊
I've been making 30min dinners with some of the recipes I've been watching you make:)
I made chicken corn chowder the other day with a freezer prep I had made containing chicken, carrots, onion, garlic, and caelery seed. I had planned to use it for chicken noodle soup, but had a lot of canned creamed corn on hand, so I added a couple cans of that and some homemade chicken broth. Yummy!
Also, made peanut butter chicken with broccoli and a side of sauted bok choy day before yesterday after watching you do a freezer meal prep for peanut butter chicken. It's one of my mom's favorite meals. She was in the Navy and stationed in Hong Kong in the 80s and used to make a lot of Asian food while I was growing up. I took some of the chicken over to her house for her to try. She said it was amazing:)
Just finished making 6 loaves of pumpkin bread that I put in the freezer and made a huge batch of tomato-cheddar biscuits that I froze the dough for later baking after watching you do it.
So, THANK YOU for all the inspiration!!!
I love watching these recipes, but it's really hard to reproduce them here because dairy products are just so expensive in Brazil. No way I can buy a block of parmesan cheese to shred it myself. I will still watch all of those, though hahaha Becky's the best!
I love how you welcome everyone! You’re a beautiful soul, friend!
Becky, I so needed a video, today. My best friend is not doing well. I have been stressed and in shock. Thanks for the brightness you bring. ❤
I'm so sorry your bestie having a rough time my bestie and I been through it with each other... hugs for you both
Sorry about your bestie. Prayers for healing and strength.
I’d love to see 5 dinners done in a cast iron skillet.
I'd also love a cast iron skillet series. Great idea.
It is SO FUN to watch a video of someone who loves to cook.
Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into creating such amazing content for us for free! I deeply appreciate you sharing these recipes. I adore cooking but only when I have time to make things I enjoy (typically anything I haven’t already made), so it’s nice to have some quick one pot meals to get dinner on the table when I’m messing around making homemade ravioli, breads, etc. This is my first time on your channel and I’m now subscribed and will be sure to never miss a video. An added bonus is that you’re such a lovely, down to earth person; never lose this, your personality makes your videos all the more enjoyable. As an Australian, I love a down to earth personality. I can’t wait to watch all your videos now. 😊🙏💕
The ramen red curry "stew" is one of the most sophisticated dishes you have ever shared. Thank you so much! The toppings are to die for. Loved the comparison to restaurant pricing, too. That recipe is a quick and easy gem.
Yay! Becky! You might want to correct the description of your CORN (not CROWN) chowder in the recipe description….
As a single parent who raised three hungry boys on a small budget, I learned how to make the "Helper" meals from scratch pretty early. The guideline I always seemed to use: Start with chopped onion and whatever ground meat (if using meat) and saute. Season as you go. Toss in a bag of frozen veggies (except broccoli - because it doesn't taste good overcooked) and add a broth. Add pasta or rice and simmer until done. If using broccoli, that gets added in a short time before serving. If sauce is too runny, add just a little mashed potato flakes. I have also substituted pasta sauce for broth and made it a one-pan lasagna by breaking up the lasagne noodles. Any creamy or cheesy elements get added last. I would often substitute nutritional yeast and coconut milk for the cheesy and creamy elements.
Pam here….one pot meals are the bomb! Anything to save time, dishwashing and kitchen clean up and tastes great is a winner. Having the pre chopped onions is great too. My garden onions didnt do so well, so I probably will watch for a sale on some and do 10-20 pounds all at once
OK I’m just curious I know you have a shredder attachment to your KitchenAid when you get your cheese and why don’t you just shred it all up and Bagget and put it in the freezer?
Try adding can of diced tomatoes to the homemade hamburger helper....so amazing! My mom made this all the time when I was a child, and I've continued to make it, too. It's a recipe that is quick, easy, versitile, and delicious.
I need that curry ramen recipe!!!
These recipes look delicious and realistic! Only 30 min is about all the time I really have. I would love to see more! Thank you!
The variety of recipes you have in this video is great! Something for everyone. They all look so good, usually I'll watch videos and there would be only 1 or two that look good but these ALL look good! That curry noodles especially, my mouth was watering watching you make that 😆😋
You can make your chicken gnocchi with shrimp and orzo as well
My mom used to make corn chowder all the time because it was a super cheap meal to make. It's one of my favorite dishes my mom made us. Brings back memories every time I make it.
I want to try all of these! One pot meals have my heart!
I love these series!
Jalepeno cheddar sourdough would go really well with that corn chowder. Ballerina farms sells sourdough starter in powder form. Goulash is also a great one pot meal.
These all look so easy and very adaptable to whatever is in the pantry and refrigerator/freezer. Those are my favorite kinds of meals to make.
My husband hates cooked spinach. So I use Arugula instead. Works like a charm!
I love the tops of the celery for tuna and egg salad sandwiches! Which would go great with my favorite corn chowder!!!!😀❤
Thanks Becky! I was just telling my husband I was getting so tired of the same old meals. This is easy, different, and great looking meals for me to try.
Exactly what I was telling my husband this evening. We need some new go to recipes. Thanks for the inspiration to try some new recipes.
Hey Becky! Can you start rating your meals like these so we can know which one was your favorite? Love your Channel by the way!
Thank you for these ideas! You’re one of my favor channels. I find your videos relaxing and informative. Love your sweet spirit!
The microphone is such a game changer!!
