    This video has saved me from a 3,400 dollar mistake, seriously, thank you for making this video. I have never considered a custom build until now and it is as the only way forward for me from now on.

    Stumbled across this today, I do not know your entire background and I really enjoyed your reviews and Advice. I just got the Long Range bug in the last year. Spent a ton of $$$. I have gone through all the steps and spreadsheets just like you making comparisons. I will be following you in the future THANKS FOR THE GREAT ADVICE...

I promise you if I’ve done anything as a competitive shooter or hunter it’s that I’ve made about every buying mistake you can possibly make ha ha. Hopefully I can help you avoid that tragedy.

    Thank you! That’s a range called Gadsen Shooting Center, a private range in the Midwest. That TT was bought two 1/2 years ago…like everything else prices were a bit lower back then.
    Thanks again

    Great video! I’m like you and spent stupid money trying out all of those guarantees that none of them worked. But don’t get me wrong if you’re hunting within 300 yards and that’s it you’ll be OK with the cheaper rifles. So I did my own build just like yours. I used a Curtis ultralight action with a proof sendero barrel, and a manners long range hunter stock and of course the trigger tech trigger. Topped of with a titanium dead silencer and a NX8 scope. Phenomenal.

    And with the scope and supressor you got there you got a $5,000.00 rifle. Yea that rifle better shoot 3 inch groups or better at 600 yards! Definetly a great combo of components but yes there are other less expensive routes out there and same accuracy. I'm glad that rifle shot great man!

    Great video.
    Rolling in that modularity value I think is something a lot of people dont calculate.
    If I want to go shoot prairie dogs, I can do it with the same rifle I invested in simply by swapping barrels.
    Or if you’re going to shoot prairie dogs, I dont need MULTIPLE thousand dollar rifles, I could bring a stack of barrels and change them on site.

    • @keithrumfola4468
      @keithrumfola4468 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point. I also see a lot of value in not having to outfit each new rifle with an equally capable scope which could easily double the cost of a new rifle setup.

    @longrangeprecisionshooters8935 I’m super curious about the 6 PRC. How would you rate the recoil of it against the 6.5 Creedmoor? Also what kind of velocity were you getting?

    You have some good points. I think with prefit barrels being an option today, you are much better off going with a lighter weight action that can accept them. Sets you up nice for the future. Its easy to add weight later on if you want to for recreational shooting. What's the recoil comparison like between 6 prc and 6.5 creed?

  • @hunterdinger8997

    I know budget and custom guns don’t go together, but what about a gun closer to the 2020 waypoint price and accuracy. Most people can’t shoot as accurate as the rifle will allow them anyways. Looking for more of the 2500 dollar range

    In your comments on the Waypoint when you mentioned shooting out the barrel, is your concern about what you would be able to replace it with? Meaning they is not currently an option on the market to fit the action?

    • @longrangeprecisionshooters8935
      @longrangeprecisionshooters8935  ปีที่แล้ว

      The action on the Waypoint, to my knowledge, is not a blueprintEd perfected action like these custom actions are. Therefore, you might be able to find a barrel replacement, or send it back to the factory for another barrel however, that Barrel is certainly not going to be perfectly cut center to bore like it would be on a Custom action. Therefore you’re giving up a ton of accuracy/ repeatability consistency.

    • @longrangeprecisionshooters8935
      @longrangeprecisionshooters8935  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s somewhat comparable to a Remington 700. Yes you could find other Barrels that would fit your Remington 700 action however, back in the day if you want a perfectly cut Barrel, you had to get your action blueprinted and tried up and then have a barrel cut to the newly perfected specs. Remington 700s Fresh off the line in a new production are probably pretty trued, however when you get to the last one of 2000 produced …tolerances are going to be lacking.

    Okay I'm torn now lol. I have been heavily debating getting the springfield waypoint for a new lighter hunting gun. Would you recommend it for a novice long distance shooter or to build a rifle from scratch?

    • @longrangeprecisionshooters8935
      @longrangeprecisionshooters8935  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would. Even just a piece at a time. Or, find a "factory" with a custom action you could re-barrel down the road. Then you could add a different stock and trigger as money and time allowed.

    • @vincentdimick7012
      @vincentdimick7012 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tikka, Bergara and Springfield seem like good factory options that allow for modularity as you gather money to buy components. You can still shoot it whilst you gather your components and dollars of money to customize. There are a lot of options for triggers, stocks and prefit barrels with the three I mentioned. Having said that, Bergara does not have a Proof Research prefit option to my knowledge. Tikka and Springfield do. Not a deal breaker for me but it’s something to consider. Sorry to throw this in as you’re already torn lol

    A carbon Bartlein including chamber/muzzle for 1K? Trigger tech 150? LRH 900? DAMN!!! I payed 1.5K for a Proof carbon including chambering and muzzle threads (LRI), 1100 for the LRH with mini chassis and 260 for a Trigger tech diamond 2 stage. Thats 800 more then what you spent. Obviously I am shopping in the wrong places! Where do you find these deals?

    Didn't add bedding price on second b
    Build
    And mini chassis is another $160
    Didn't add muzzle break either
    Not that's its that much more money
    But it all adds up

    • @longrangeprecisionshooters8935
      @longrangeprecisionshooters8935  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There was no bedding on the second one. Manners offers a new option where you don’t have to bed the top component and the bottom is fashioned to take any standard M5 DBM. I wish I would’ve mentioned that in the video but that’s why I didn’t add betting. same concept with a muzzle brake and some of the other stuff I had one sitting in a bin, but I should’ve vocalized that as well. Thanks for watching and your comments.

    I just got a 7 prc build and I was looking for 10 pound gun just cuz I want to be able to see impacts I'm running a mcmillan hunter stock and I build it on a Defiance deviant tactical not the best option for a lightweight built but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Cost of it right around 4300 dollars too
