There was so much story to get if they removed Cole… More backstory on Sub-Zero n Scorpion, more backstory on Jax n Sonya chasing Kano and reptile in the jungle, more back story on Kung Lao n Luí Kang. Then end it right before the tournament for the second movie… I don’t see how this got a sequal
Im so excited for this sequel!! By the sounds of it they seem to have learnt from a lot of the feedback of the fans so Im willing to give it a chance! This is an actual tournament since the 1995 film so Im holding out hope. I am quite bummed that Scorpion won’t be having a lot of screen time tho as he’s quite literally the face of Mortal Kombat :/
You got to understand they can't just give us more scorpion. They gotta focus on other characters too it would take Take away from the other characters
Two main reasons for that: 1) A sign he's costing too much, so they include him just a little. 2) Too many characters to show, only so little screen time you can do for all of them. I think it's a combination of both, actually. The important thing about this is that his role, regardless of how limited it will be in the sequel, has to be significant; when he's on-screen it has to 'count' and to be for a very good reason (which was the case in the first, really; intro was amazing and important, as much as the end fight against Sub-Zero; the rest of the movie had to include many other characters). I like to call it the "Godzilla" effect (2014 version), he's there for maybe 10 minutes total, but it's very impactful when he's there. Also, by the way, the 1995 movie had very little screen time for Scorpion and Sub-Zero as well... to be honest most 'villains' had little screen time. The intro of Scorpion and Sub-Zero on the boat, then the fight for each one respectively and... that's about it; same with Reptile.
If they made MK 2 after Shogun, you know studio would make him put more Scorpion in. But MK 2 was done filming before Shogun started, so. Maybe reshoots, or they try to leave as much material in the movie as possible, which also might not be good, you would want dragging scenes, no matter who is in them, cut out of the movie.
I'm ok with that there's many other characters that need screen time i like scorpion but i'm not upset about how long he is in the movie its better than not being in the movie at all but truly scorpion as a character can have his own solo movie.

I like the actors as well as the kharacters they play so I’m kool with who they want to show the most. I even like Cole. He would have been badass to have in Mortal Kombat 1. I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnny Cage and Scorpion steal the show lol but I am excited and scared about who is gonna catch a fatality.

Baraka seems fine to me. I hate the casting for Shang Tsung, Raiden, Jax, Scorpion, and Johnny Cage. All terribly miscast. And I hate the whole character of Cole Young. Smh.

And the casting for Shang was pretty good I reckon except the Raiden casting wasn't good the Scorpion casting and Jax were both good. You never know Karl Urban could be good as Johnny. You don't want this sequel to be a Scorpion's revenge live action. Scorpion needs to be utilised like a big deal. A trump card. If I was to structure the movie, I'd have Scorpion be under the boot of Quan Chi to fight for Outworld, but realises that he has the right to choose himself. He chooses to fight for Earth and challenges Sub-Zero. Scorpion finally gets his definitive victory over him and is free from Quan Chi's hold, leading Earth to win the tournament. Thoughts?
The only way I see Mortal Kombat two can work. make it two part movie. The first part of movie is all about back stories details and the movie second when the tournament starts and people dying.
Mortal Kombat one had so much potential but fell so short. The costumes were amazing but the story just didn’t make sense 1)why are outworlders inviting earth realm with no consequences. 2) where was Sonya and Kano hatred and rivalry. 3) how did sub zero live so many years. 4) why did the earth realmers need a mark now. 5) why would they kill goro in the first movie. Rumor has it that sisi stringer is set to come back as Mileena and that already pisses me off so much as I hate her as Mileena as it either should’ve been Elodie Yung or Rinko Kikuchi, especially the latter, as not only are they both Asian, but they have more Mileena vibes and would do a way better job as Mileena than sisi stringer. What is it with the people behind the Mortal Kombat movie not learning their mistakes.
That's why they need to do side movies and have them be origin stories of the mortal kombat characters. This is what they should have done and maybe had like 2 or 3 origin stories per movie and then after all the characters had been shown and explained in their story movie you then bring them together for the tournament! That is how I wish they had handled it that way we could've gotten plenty of screen time with our favorite characters. These Hollywood idiots always try to put like 10 games worth of shit into 1 or 2 movies and it just doesn't work imo. They should call MK1 first scene goto Raiden and reboot. I love scorpion and him as him but the original mk movie he wasn't in the movie alot once on the boat then again to fight johnny so I don't need alot of him for it to be a banger as long as he's in it like last time
I simply adore Hiroyuki Sanada, the guy is pure class, and of course he was outstanding as Hanzo, but as they obviously had in mind multiple sequels they should've go with younger actor, someone who can commit to the role more so we get more screen time of actual Scorpion who supposed to be ultimate killing machine. Same goes with Karl Urban, he's a good charismatic actor but not a skillful martial artist, so scenes with him will be most likely chopped af. Also if they manage do another one in couple of years, he will get closer to 60, and I don't think MK11 papa Johnny type of character is the aim here.
The director clearly didn’t care for mortal kombat. It’s like he only played the original in 92. Completely ignored the games and what fans wanted. I hate it and now we have to wait another 10 years to reboot.

The drip feed of scorpion in the MK film is ideal because if they give him a lot of screen time I will get bored of him.

If I was to structure the movie, I'd have Scorpion be under the boot of Quan Chi to fight for Outworld, but realises that he has the right to choose himself. He chooses to fight for Earth and challenges Sub-Zero.
Scorpion finally gets his definitive victory over him and is free from Quan Chi's hold, leading Earth to win the tournament.

The only way I see Mortal Kombat two can work. make it two part movie. The first part of movie is all about back stories details and the movie second when the tournament starts and people dying.
Mortal kombat is not about Scorpion. It's reason like this why franchises die and trilogies never happen

Mortal Kombat one had so much potential but fell so short. The costumes were amazing but the story just didn’t make sense

I don't think I'm mind that's there is not so much scorpion so long they keep on giving us scorpion he doesn't need to be in the whole movie just when he is in it he should like he did in the first one really steal the show I think they have done a great job of my scorpion his history is awesome in the movies so long they keep on bringing him back and we keep getting movies I'm fine with it I think it's a good building up II also miss those kind of things where it builds up in the background to have a payoff in later movies so I hope that's what's happening with scorpion but of course this is my opinion and my hopes because merchant combat has so many characters and yes Scorpion is one of the main characters but if they built things up like I said before in the background while still giving them an off screen time I'm fine with that it sounds promising

Rumor has it that sisi stringer is set to come back as Mileena and that already pisses me off so much as I hate her as Mileena as it either should’ve been Elodie Yung or Rinko Kikuchi, especially the latter, as not only are they both Asian, but they have more Mileena vibes and would do a way better job as Mileena than sisi stringer. What is it with the people behind the Mortal Kombat movie not learning their mistakes.

That's why they need to do side movies and have them be origin stories of the mortal kombat characters. This is what they should have done and maybe had like 2 or 3 origin stories per movie and then after all the characters had been shown and explained in their story movie you then bring them together for the tournament! That is how I wish they had handled it that way we could've gotten plenty of screen time with our favorite characters. These Hollywood idiots always try to put like 10 games worth of shit into 1 or 2 movies and it just doesn't work imo. I'm excited for the 2nd movie just wondering which one that I like does next without much screen time like Kung Lao

I love scorpion and him as him but the original mk movie he wasn't in the movie alot once on the boat then again to fight johnny so I don't need alot of him for it to be a banger as long as he's in it like last time
I simply adore Hiroyuki Sanada, the guy is pure class, and of course he was outstanding as Hanzo, but as they obviously had in mind multiple sequels they should've go with younger actor, someone who can commit to the role more so we get more screen time of actual Scorpion who supposed to be ultimate killing machine. Same goes with Karl Urban, he's a good charismatic actor but not a skillful martial artist, so scenes with him will be most likely chopped af. Also if they manage do another one in couple of years, he will get closer to 60, and I don't think MK11 papa Johnny type of character is the aim here.

The director clearly didn’t care for mortal kombat. It’s like he only played the original in 92. Completely ignored the games and what fans wanted. I hate it and now we have to wait another 10 years to reboot.
I'll never understand casting Kitana and Mileena with different actresses. Like Mileena is supposed to be Kitanas clone, her main purpose in the games (besides MK1) is to look like Kitana and take her throne.

Yes definitely more scorpion i hope. Plus they have the perfect actor for him. With this movie i hope shao kahn is a beast and kills a few people off at least. I thought they did goro dirty by having him killed off with out killing anyone, an especially taking the L to cole young. A guy and his damage absorbing wet suite. That was my only hate in the first movie. Secretly hoping cole meets a fatality at the hands of shao kahn. Maybe a brutality 😂
