There are a number of features that mean I am obligated to recommend him to you. -Firstly, he wears a funny bucket hat. -Secondly, his county coat of arms is just a picture of a squirrel. -Thirdly, he has the Andalusian culture. This culture has two very important features. Firstly, you can demand people become your best friend so you can ask them for money, and secondly, you can hire mercenaries with -50% cost and have +200% Andalusian mercenary companies. The Opportunity phase reduces mercenary costs by -30%, and for same-culture mercenaries you can get an extra tradition or become Communal to reduce costs further, and you still get -30% cost for them in the Hostility phase. This means that you can raise about 3000 mercenaries to wage war against your enemies before you're even a duke. I hope that this information about the mercenary-vomiting man with the bucket hat and the squirrel flag is of use to you.

18:25 - ok so fun fact, once you get the event for "You will die in a year", your death is hard-coded and cannot be avoided by gaining more health. At game release, you *did* used to be able to get around that event by gaining health, but that was patched out.

I played in that area in the first startdate, but I created a norse asartu character, I just wanted to have a high learning character and a busted cultures and high development, but I invaded bengal gave it to a brother and he then attacked me in pagan so from then on I just kept expanding. After a while due to the huge armies of me and my opponents it was very expensive to have armies but because I started norse I got that dynasty tradition that gives gold when you kill enemies in battle. I conquered all of India, destroyed a Mega Abbasid empire and reached even Spain (before Iberian struggle dlc) Due to my huge empire it took too long to raise armies so I gave the Persian empire and the Arabian empire to family members and I just kept India with it's heartland Pagan that had 100 development capital. (i had converted to the local Buddhist religion when I formed Pagan)
