Thank you guys for spending the time to understand our history and what an honor it is for you to visit our country! I would say the most distinguishing difference between Taiwan and China is that Taiwan is a mature, westernized democracy where all values and personal freedoms are guaranteed, whereas in China the government can still silence or even disappear you for having thoughts contrary to state beliefs. We became the first Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage, and offer complete religious freedom to all religions - and the Longshan temple you visited is a great illustration of such ideals. Thanks again and I sincerely hope you will enjoy your stay!
You guys do a wonderful job of capturing the essence of everything. You show the reality of life there, not sugar coating anything, the perspective of a 'daily life' in these cities. This rawness is what I like about the Budgeteers. Mostly, in other travel shows or vlogs, we see people going to fancy places, the 'hip and happening' areas & the popular joints. But you guys give us a mix of everything. This is what I enjoy and really appreciate that you bring out the true sense of that specific place. Damiaan and Alex too have been wonderful and perfect additions to this series. I especially liked how Damiaan gave us historical perspectives of each place. Personally, I believe if you want to truly understand or imbibe something you need to know the history of it and I loved that Damiaan helped me with it. Thank you Budgeteers for everything and the incredible effort that you put in. Even though you come online once a year but I understand it takes a whole year of planning since you have other jobs as well.
Glad you liked Taipei - I went in 2017 and loved it! Its such a cosmopolitan city and has almost everything! Watching this video is making me want to go back and see it all again! Keep this up!
Great video - I spent a night in Taipei on the way back from Cambodia to the UK a few weeks ago and promised myself that I'll be going back to Taiwan once the world is back on its feet again.
You guys are just great. These are the kind of adventures people need! Singing karaoke on the side of a hill with a Taiwanese man! Can't beat it, brilliant! :)
O.m.g. the karaoke, Paddy you made my day, i was rolling down the couch on the floor crying and laughing at the same time 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 that was a lot of fun buddy 👊🥳 Thanks for this great mini series and your creativity guys 🙏
Wow... Taiwan is beautiful... The vibes I'm getting is very soothing and refreshing... Amazing culture and food... Ppl seems soo nice... And lotsa things to explore and look around... Amazing..
Taiwan and China are so obvious to be two different countries. Because Taiwan is a modern, democracy and free country, not like China, and thanks God for that!
Very fun stuff. Not over the top. Not attempting to be extreme. Not attempting to 'cool'.....Mostly just enjoying the place. Halfway thru episode 3 and loving the snack and beer aspect. Taiwan for me is the ultimate for just walking, drinking and eating. Heck, that for me has kept me here for 14 years.....Well that and a small child....( mine obviously) ......
Recently discored the channel and have bingewatched Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India, SE Asia and now Taiwan in just a couple days. Love the channel! I love the high qualitiy videos that really show the good and the bad about places, instead of only cinematic shots and that you guys also visit hidden gems. I'm thinking of traveling trough Asia in a couple months. I'm planning on taking cheap public transport/scooters and sleeping in hostels, since I'll probably travel most solo. Which countries do you guys recommend? I was thinking about Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Vietnam. Also, do you guys mostly get visa's beforehand or on the spot? Thanks for all the awsome video's!! :)
Just paused it to say the karaoke was absolutely hilarious!! 🤣🤣 Also, to be honest I wasn’t too keen on Damiaan on the Morocco trip esp the first episode, not sure why, (sorry Damiaan) BUT since watching the Taipei bitesize and part of this first episode.. I totally get him now!! He is hilarious and a great addition to the team. Keep up the great work guys!
Yeah people aren't always themselves on camera first time round, it's weird... But yeah he is totally himself and as you can see.. A bad mother lover 💜🤟💜
Wow I felt exactly the same about Morocco but I do have to say Damiaan seems a cool guy, he brings a balance to Paddy where he is only after getting drunk and Damiaan seems to like more of the culture, sorry Paddy :) I am not complaining I just think you compliment each other well.
Nice to see you back again Paddy. And with two new members of the family. I'd never really given Taiwan much thought until I saw this. I'm putting this on my list. (I'm off to The Grand Circle this Spring - Thanks to Karl Watson). I did miss Lina and Thijs.. You three create something very special together..The Holy Travel Trinity! But it must be really difficult with you all on different continents! Happy New Year xx
Thank you for uploading before X-Mas. I have a 6hr flight to NYC and this is just in time to binge watch on the plane. Perks of being a member! Merry Christmas!
You always getting great combi Paddy, seems like Damien is perfect match in Budgeteers and he is funny too. As always, great video and music. The Budgeteers is a complete fun packed channel in TH-cam. I am also a traveller, but never had a perfect combination of friends as you got. Awaiting next one as I don't see the "Join" button in the country I live in right now. Btw, Taiwan looks stunning and a must see destination.
Hi guys, stumbled across you video about Taiwan. Thanks for visiting and glad you guys had a good time. Just a side note - Chiang Kai Shek is a very “controversial” figure in Taiwan. A massive part of the population hates him due to him ruling Taiwan with a iron fist and killed many local Taiwanese people during the 228 massacres (you can go read it up). They have been debates since the beginning of the democratic transition to convert his memorial hall into a different site like a democratic hall or something. They’ve already changed the squares name introns of the hall to Liberty Square. Yes, the family that retreated with him from China praised him but that’s a minority of the population. Anyway, just a side note that not everyone praises him. Thanks again for visiting :)
Love your videos and love you guys! I almost watched the full video, except the Karaoke part.... Thank you for broadcasting Taiwan. You should definitely come back and explore more!
I've been so hyped for this series! Paddy bro you absolutely murdered on the karaoke 😂😂 Damian is a great budgeteer, Morocco series with him was great.

What no question at the end from Paddy, I am so disappointed LOL! I am going to pretend Paddy asked "On your travels, what has happened causing you change your plans last minute"? ….well when I was in Kashmir (place dropping I know lol) I was on my way to the beautiful (supposedly as I never got there) Srinagar in the far north (or central depending on your political view but I won't go into that) and got stuck (not a bad place to be stuck in) in Jammu for 8 days because of a landslide on the only road up there and ended up having to turn back which was very disappointing and very expensive as I had booked a non-refundable flight from Leh next to the China border (which I could no longer get to either) and one of the highest major airports in the world but hey ho, that's travelling (and sorry for all the brackets) 😊 Love the video, series and your 7-eleven crawl, I hope you get more members so you can do more!!!

Just a note on the "Taiwan claims whole of mainland as theirs". This is forced onto TW government by the CN/CCP. Yeah, it sounds strange to force others to claim your land as their own, but thats how it is, as it "connects" TW with CN and make it seem like they are from same country. TW used to be a military single party dictatorship (Chiang) that wants to retake mainland. The constituition that TW claims all of mainland was written into law during this period. TW has since transitioned into free democracy with own elections and referendums. CN will not let TW alter its constitution into renouncing claims on mainland territory and being officially independent on threat of invasion. In reality, most Taiwanese (especially the younger under 40's) already think/prefer TW to be fully independent and no one really wants to retake mainland, as per the constitution/"official stance".
Ok, so where is our lovely Lina??? I'm like, "Just wait for it, Lina will join them any minute now." But, Lina never came! Lina NEVER came! ☹️ We want our Leeeeeeenaaaaa! 😭
