This was a VERY GOOD video and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree with Alina, I wouldn't wait an hour in line for food. Most Americans don't even want to wait for food at fast-food restaurants. I also liked how you. kept saying Taiwan was similar to Japan. I want to go back to Japan as I went there on deployment from San Diego back in 1984. We went to Yokosuka but prior to that I. was stationed in the Philippines and all I heard about back then was Tokyo and Roppongi being great places. I thinking of retiring in Taiwan and studying Mandarin at National Taiwan University. I am a 12 year US Navy Veteran. I am planning on going to Taiwan, this coming December 1-15, 2023. Taiwan does seem to be very close to everything and will make a great homebase.

Taiwan’s passport allows visa-free access to 112 countries
If you don’t want to wait for lunch, try to go to a popular restaurant avoiding popular lunch or dinner times. You are not working this time, why keep a working schedule anyway. Just go to lunch at 2:00 pm and dinner at 8 pm. You can miss a lot of long lines.
The black seasoning in beef noodle restaurants, which is salt-cured soybeans, is used to increase saltiness and fermented taste. In Mandarin, it's called Douchi (豆豉).
Wow, you don’t mind sharing the table with a stranger while enjoying your beef noodles soup, I don't think this would be acceptable in the US. I had to agree with Alina that clear soup is a better choice if you want the original beef flavor
There doesn’t exist a country called Taiwan, only ROC on Taiwan island, although mainland China wouldn’t acknowledge that and not many countries in the world recognize it.
PSA: people, y’all need to stop getting 50% sugar or less than 100% and then be surprised that it’s not sweet. My boyfriend does this all the time and is always disappointed cos it’s not sweet! You’re getting dessert and it should be made the way its designed to be ingested. The lowest should really be 80% so you won’t notice the lack in perceived quality! :)
I think you have taken too much sugar and gotten insensitive to the flavor. I think most Taiwanese who did not grow up in US or other modern Western societies would be able to taste 50% sugar for the milk tea as sweet enough. When I make a pumpkin pie following an American recipe, I generally need to reduce the sugar to 1/3 of what the recipe has called for. The pie came out just right for my family.
In many of those beef noodle places, you have to add spiced beef oil and pickles to make beef noodles taste better. That's how locals do. Most people don't mention about fast food restaurants such as 三商巧福. They serve pretty nice beef noodles. For example, 蘭州拉麵 is nice without adding anything. There are better bubble tea places, but 春水堂 is like Starbucks, you don't get the best, but you can get decent drinks and food... air conditioned.. some are with nice interior design. They are pretty nice places to chill out with friends.
In normal circumstances I would like and subscribe your channel but while Russia is still killing Ukraine I withhold my usually unconditional Taiwanese friendliness until the just is done.

Yes, most of the entire world recognize this. Taiwan also state it in their constitution that they are a part of China. Even two face America documents state the One China principal. Also United Nations as well. You can dream all you want, but that's the reality.

The beef noodle spot and the bubble tea spot are both super overrated. There are “TONS” of better spots in Taipei.
