The Taiwanese are really friendly and relaxed. As Chinese go that’s really unique - and especially endearing. In every other place Chinese, from Mainland to Singapore, Hong-Kong or Macau, locals tend to be very reserved before we are acquainted. They wait until they get to know us for long, before smiling and open up. I sort of feel at home in all these places but in this respect luckily Taiwan are in a class of their own.
You guys are cracking me up! The hitchhiking sign is epic, plus the free lunch. By the way, the indigenous mamas thought Damiaan is from Australia, mate! ;)
Those ladies were great! The sign they wrote says "I'd like a lift!" Seems they think at least one of you is from Australia. At one point she says "I'm sure they eat beef in Australia." But without full context it's hard to know what's going on.
Malz Bier is the best thing ever! It's a non alcoholic sweet malty drink. Has as much to do with real beer as ginger beer or root beer. In the Caribbean it is also popular under the name Malta. Guinness even makes a Malz for the Nigerian market. While hitchhiking I've been offered regular beer a few times but always respectfully declined it as I don't drink but literally every time had to think that The Budgeteers would never say no to a beer while on the road ;)
Dont know my ppl are so friendly to hitchhiker/beer lover LOL Looking forward to ur next episode If u guys are still in Taiwan, make sure u drink Taiwan beer "18 days" it is a larger beer and the taste will blow u away. Cheers!
Another absolutely great video as always! One honest question though : How do you find the balance between filming everything like the food in the street markets, the monuments, yourself at common places doing random things etc and not looking like a dumb tourist to the locals at the same time?
But the public transportation infrastructure is so good. Trains will get you to big cities, and busses can get you to the most remote villages. I was able to visit my paternal great aunt in the outskirts of Pingtung.
Those two ladies thought Damiaan was indigenous people in Australia. 😅 We translate Belgium into "比利時". It's hard for them to connect them together because the pronunciation is totally different.
We quickly check the pictures online if we have time, to see the state of the beds and common areas. But mostly we walk up and see for ourselves before we book in. You can always ask to see the rooms first. And see if there is any life, any other backpackers there staying too. If you're still unsure, you can always book for one night and change afterwards if unsatisfied. You can hop around hostels to find the one you like if you got enough time.
The chubby Brit and the sexy Pocahontas...I just can't 😅😅😅 Btw: In Germany we say that Malzbier is actually craved when being pregnant and it's true😂😂😂
Great video as always although I do hope Damiaan wasn't offended by those women calling him Pocahontas which I hope was meant affectionately, it seemed to be, a little too much as they clearly had the hots for him LOL... No question again, sort it out! ;)
I think only the MRT you're not suppose to eat and drink, but the traditional trains and high speed rail you can. The HSR even has food and snack service on board.
True, we're no beggars. hitchhiking is not about money necessarily, its about sharing rides and getting to know the locals. Busses and trains are cheap in Taiwan so theres not need but hitchhiking gets you those amaxing experiences of connection and kindness, you otherwise would not get. 😉☺️
Those people who picked you up hitch hiking...what amazing friendly people!
Right? 😋
The Taiwanese are awesome! Loved this.
Taiwanese are always so hospitable and passionate, so proud of them.
謝謝你們把拍出台灣人的友善秀給全世界!
People of Taiwan seem very friendly and helpful.
Thank you so much for this video... Taitung seems prettier than what I imagined....the sceneries are AMAZING
Definitely adding Taiwan to my list! Great to see a look into some places outside of Taipei
Awesome video dudes. Those ladies were too funny. 😀 Next time in Taiwan must visit Taitung too!
Those old ladies were the best 💜
Those ladies were in love of you guys.

Can't wait to see your hike on the Zhuilu trail! I did it solo last month, awesome, awesome view up top.
Its insane!
If you're a member you can already watch the episodes. But yes, incredible trail.
what a pro, they taped it over so that the sign could last for a while .

Best idea of hitchhiking... Taiwan is beautiful... And the ppl are soo lovely...
Awesome video! Great storyline 👌
You guys are cracking me up! The hitchhiking sign is epic, plus the free lunch. By the way, the indigenous mamas thought Damiaan is from Australia, mate! ;)

I WANT A SIGN LIKE THAT
Its was the best sign we've ever had!
Another absolutely great video as always! One honest question though : How do you find the balance between filming everything like the food in the street markets, the monuments, yourself at common places doing random things etc and not looking like a dumb tourist to the locals at the same time?
You just have accept that we look stupid and get over it otherwise we'd never be able to do this 💜
very nice chanel. a love taiwan 🌷👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Was the chubby Brit translation accurate? Regardless, that shit was hilarious 😂😂😂😂
😁
Nice view, Nice seashore
Those 2 ladies you rode with are indigenous. You are lucky, only a hundred years ago they were head hunters.
Awesome!!!
Thanks 💜
Belgium we call 比利時 Bǐlìshí
Because of the accent problem, so Taiwanese didn't know what is Belgium.
btw, Belgium is not a small country.
Haha thanks
Yes!
Haha ✌
Waiting at SFO airport to go home to Vegas, watching eps. 2 😄🍻
Enjoy and safe travels 💜
We have lots of Air Force Base because we have a very big neighbor who threatens to liberate us.
😂😂😂
Freedom from.... freedom
how do you think 2 girls hitchhiking would do in Taiwain? safe?
Absolutely Safe 💜
But the public transportation infrastructure is so good. Trains will get you to big cities, and busses can get you to the most remote villages. I was able to visit my paternal great aunt in the outskirts of Pingtung.
im HAPPY!!!!!!!
💜✌💜✌💜

Sexy Pocahontas....that did make me laugh out loud :) Loving this new series!
#21 to like this video......even before I start to watch the video!
二位阿兜旅行到東部,欣賞原住民文化交流,享受自然生態,帶來快樂的氣分,歡迎歡迎,哈利路亞。
How do you avoid the bad hostels when just randomly choosing one you see? I always try to book ahead to make sure i dont get a "bad" one.

Pink t-shirt from Uniqlo I am guessing Patrick? The way forward.
So cool that you can hitch hike and it looks perfectly safe. Europe and US aren't all that great for hitch hiking anymore.
Taiwan was amazing for sure 🙏
Oh damnit why did i book that flight to japan 🧐
Wow, you guys were just about 10 to 15 minutes away from Dulan village when you turned around...
the title is deceiving though ;).. no kaohsiung, you really missed out on Kenting as well
Damiaan can really pass as Filipino. It is so hilarious. Btw Im Filipino. Hahaha
I had to find out too. That accent!!
Where are the other two
At work, they could not make it this time. But they will be back next series!
The chubby Brit and the sexy Pocahontas...I just can't 😅😅😅 Btw: In Germany we say that Malzbier is actually craved when being pregnant and it's true😂😂😂
😝😝😝💜💜💜✌✌✌

@@TheBudgeteers I didn't get it sorry.
life before covid.,.

I'm afraid of bike riding. I always fear someone will hit me with their car.
Noooo it's safe just stay clear
it will be much easier if you call Uber next time. XD
Hey Guys, no thumbnail...
It glitches sometimes 😫
“He’s like a sexy Pocahontas, much better then this chubby Brit”!!! LO friggin L! ..... please tell me she really said that?!?
$200 Taiwanese dollars is about 6 US dollars. Think of 100 as 3.
Thanks mate, that does simplify and make it easier to understand. Should've said so in the video
Rusty little bangers🤷♂️😂😂😅
😝
you cant eat on trains!!
Oh no really... Oh well 😆
I think only the MRT you're not suppose to eat and drink, but the traditional trains and high speed rail you can. The HSR even has food and snack service on board.
memmener eat/drink only in designated area, not seating, just disrespectful
Sup 😎
😋
居然你已經搬來臺灣
Damian should cut his hair now
LOL the subtitles are killing me
Great video pal!! Well done!!
Haha cheers dude
True budgeteers style! 💯👎
Boring city life explore in south india like kerala , hampi , gokarna , etc..
Honestly, you guys should have some money to travel , can’t always ask for free rides.
True, we're no beggars. hitchhiking is not about money necessarily, its about sharing rides and getting to know the locals. Busses and trains are cheap in Taiwan so theres not need but hitchhiking gets you those amaxing experiences of connection and kindness, you otherwise would not get. 😉☺️
