As a male vocalist, I can also say in regards to head voice, that breath control is a HUGE part of it. If you don't sufficiently breathe, your head and chest voice will sound weaker and less resonated. Breathe deeply with your diaphragm. Not like a gasp, but a heavy breath.
If you get used to the feeling of pinching your air off without closing your throat then scaling shoukd almost feel like second nature. If you draw back your jaw instead of smiling then you can slide into falsetto easy. But before all this finding the headvoice and how to properly go into it will also map in how to travel from chest to falsetto through head voice. Once you do both work into your head voice then falsetto becomes a lighter version of that transition. I wonder if that made sense to someone learning
HOLY COW!!! It’s WORKING!!! I have a deep voice and always thought of myself as tone def but ALWAYS wished! I could sing… I’ve been doing this and now I am transitioning into tones that I would always crack on… THANK YOU ADAM!!!
I can't express how grateful I am for this. My voice underwent a significant transformation, and I've struggled with sounding like I'm pleading for help while singing. Thanks to your guidance, I've reclaimed a remarkable vocal range. Your support means the world to me!
Him: Knowing that you, as a male, have 2/3 chest voice and 1/3 head voice, which one do you think you should spend more time working on? Me: chest voice Him: right! your head voice! Me: Oh edit: wow 1k likes.. never got so many
I don't have a problem with my head voice at all.. I always thought that it was the only way to sing high. But now I have to learn that I can reach the high notes with my chest voice as well!
I just wanted to sing like Chris Cornell... now it sounds like I have the worst cold ever and when I try not to sound like that I just sound like “AaaaaaahhhhhhhAAAIIIHHaaaaaahHhahaHHiieeeeAah” My throat hurts... 😢 Then when I want to go higher or lower it sounds like “aahhhhhiiiIIIIIIIIHHHHHEEää”
Just means you have to keep practicing it and getting more comfortable in it. Your tonality is gonna be a lot more limited in your head voice at first, since naturally you’re WAY more comfortable in your chest voice. Once you keep developing your head voice though, you’ll be able to play around with the sound of it a lot more, so you won’t be stuck with that “Mickey mouse” sound. That being said though, these other replies are correct. If you’ve already achieved that sound, then you’ve already got a pretty good start (better than most actually. A lot of guys struggle to even access their head voice at all, and if they do it’s usually pretty weak/underdeveloped)
Yooooooo as I'm practicing this, I understand the work ethic of MJ I heard a while back in a video MJ's deep voice and I also heard how he talked about his profession. The man slept, walked, ate and spoke with everything that aided his sing level. This is evident in his choice to always speak in head voice, to ensure his singing is controlled exactly as he wanted it to be. The legend continues to teach well still 💪
I used to be able to sing then I got hit by puberty and my voice depended so much it’s so hard to sing, I’m gonna try to practice even though I sound horrible, I really hope I can get good again. My range is basically monotone and I suppose having a deep voice is nice unless you want to sing.
1:29 people always confuse this. Falsetto isn't head voice. As demonstrated is this the vibration of the ligamentous edges of the vocal cords - resulting in a falsetto voice. Head voice still is being produced fully by the vocal cords but as for the pitch seems to swing in the head (I'd say in your register this happens around G4 and above). You still don't use falsetto but have the higher tones rather coming from your head than your chest. A very good demonstration for this is your intro: 0:28 Your head voice sings "run, run, run" and in 0:30 with "lost boy" you switch to falsetto ;)
As a singer of a very popular band. I must say you did a great job! Treat your voice like an engine and warm it up before you really start singing full songs. We just did a 4 hour concert last night! One of my favorite warm up songs as a rock singer. Is patience by guns and roses!
This was an absolute trip to experience. I had just started singing along with a song and hating my voice, being unaware of head singing. Hearing myself again is already a huge improvement. Really interesting stuff, it makes me actually want to practice some more
OMG I just found this video. I have been jokingly singing for a couple years, no hardcore training. And I had been using both head and chest voices, but I had no idea what they were. And I got frustrated at my lack of progress because I kept trying to force my chest voice to do head voice stuff, and thought head voice sounded weird and was just something I made up. Now I have a bit more clarity on it, I just need to hone and train my head voice. Thankyou SO much for this video, you're awesome man! 🤣
I have been singing daily for the past three years, I now understand what is meant by head voice, I was calling it the God voice, such a connection for me to hit notes you never thought you could, I am learning my voice is developing power, where I can go on either side of the tone, with power, but I hurt something for the first time this week, lesson learned. Where do I go to find out what bad habits I have learned. If the head voice doesn't work I use the chest voice to work into the head voice, singing for me is my own little wealth of sanity.
Dude the improvement was instant!!!!! I thought I couldn't sing if my life depended on it, but I play guitar and I love singing even if I suck but I noticed a big improvement right away. The first thing I noticed was that I was out of tune when I tried to follow along and once I was a bit more in tune with you I tried playing one of the songs I love to play and I recorded myself and I compared it with another recording of the same song and now my voice is much clearer and it doesn't sound like I'm whispering. Thanks man!
I agree that it’s important initially to work on head voice, but don’t make the mistake I did of working 90% on head voice & neglecting your chest voice. I had to spend a LOT of time getting my chest to the same level and it was frustrating. Consider what you want to sing and what register you prefer singing in and then practice accordingly. Most importantly, have fun! 🤘🏻

I thought "head voice" was called falsetto. Anyway, I started learning Bridge Over Troubled Water a month ago, and sounded terrible, so screechy up in my head voice! But finally it's actually starting to sound alright. Still weak, but at least pleasant. So the moral of that story is, the voice is controlled by muscles, you have to exercise them.

Also Adam : Good, that's your head voice
Your such a bad boy
I thought "head voice" was called falsetto. Anyway, I started learning Bridge Over Troubled Water a month ago, and sounded terrible, so screechy up in my head voice! But finally it's actually starting to sound alright. Still weak, but at least pleasant. So the moral of that story is, the voice is controlled by muscles, you have to exercise them.
That love of my life part was super helpful in giving an example to something I do unconsciously and now I’m aware of it and can focus on it thanks
Im very acquainted with my head voice thank you! He talks to me all the time
Why didn't you give us an example of your mixed voice???
There is no mixed voice. He just means beomg able to go back and forth between the head and chest voice seamlessly
@@molar92 lol.
molar92 there is a mixed voice, it’s just built overtime with chest and head voice exercises
His intro his him singing
Jimmy Fuentes there’s no mixed voice, there’s either chest or head voice
I'm gonna start doing this when I get my own soundproof room
Naaah do it now! Don’t care what other people think! You’re literally putting your dream in the hands of other people. I started last June from 0 and just through TH-cam I managed now to release my first song! So if I can give you a piece of advice I would recommend you to check jacobs vocal academy here on TH-cam, he makes great lessons and there’s tons in there for head voice and chest voice! Unfortunately it’s not a paid ad haha but it really worked for me! Keep chasing your dreams because they might just become reality!! Good luck! :)
The fall out boy album infinity on high has some incredible jumps from chest voice to head voice. I always practice withit
I’m not a beginner to singing but this is actually very helpful
holy.. came here to teach my boy to sing and the minute you explained chest voice I had a breakthrough lmao
My wife literally just walked in the room when I was doing my 'head voice' exercise and stared at me as if I lost my mind.
this dood just introduced us to falsetto pretty much, however good advice altogether I give 3 bananas
Bruh I'm kinda sick and I'm genuinely scared because I completely lost my head voice
Yeah I get the same problem, I can't sing low in head voice when I'm sick and can only sing high in head voice at that point.
@@jmeahd1953 Puberty. If I use my head voice, it can't be heard
