wow. I ran an old BBS in my apartment. I used a Telgard BBS and ran it for about 2 hours each night. The only people who used it were me, my girlfriend, my roommate and 3 friends who had an apartment on the floor below me. Ran the Pit, Trade Wars (that I registered !!!) Fishing and LOD (Land of Devastation.) The funny thing was I was doing all of this (occasionally frustrating ) board programming and I was a Psych Major. Everyone using it was in Computer Science and had no idea how to what I was doing.
was curious how you got the pit 4.17 to run without using netfoss and what your settings were. and the game settings. I am having trouble getting mine to run
Ahh.. nostalgia. Loved the pit. Just an FYI I heard BBSFiles.org took over the pit source code, and you can get a registered version made? check out BBSFiles.com .. I'm looking to set up a board (also for nostalgia's sake and as a "Facebook Antidote") and been digging in to things... figured I'd pass it on.
This was one of my favorite BBS door games. I would be so excited to get home from school and play this!
I was a big fan of LORD during the 90s. This video was a great bit of nostalgia.

And a bbser too.. Awesome. I used Synchronet and it was called The Looney Bin. I was thinking of setting it up once again... Memories....
i loved this game as a kid. way cooler than LORD
How cool to see this again.
On my local BBS, I had the highest score before it reset char to 0. People tried to get higher, but always reset.
I had a registered copy on a floppy somewhere. Might still have it, but it's most likely corrupted. Nostalgic..
this is cool I like how this looks. Is there any sort of guide for getting this running under linux?
Halp! In nostalgia trap! (Also, Renegade was the best BBS)
