I’m holding BOTH of my Links right now! This one and the M390 version, and I LOVE THEM BOTH! I like the 20CV version a little bit more because of the deep carry clip, the blacked out liners, and the milling in the handle! Drinking my favorite caffeine in a can with the LTK koozie too, Cheers Sir!

Being a “Made in USA” fanboy, especially re Kershaw, I had ordered one if these via WMtn before I saw this excellent vid. I’ll add it into my rotation of BLURs and LEEKs (9 total). So this makes 10. Thanks for your work on these vids over the years. My $80 was absolutely well spent on this baby!

The grease keeps the spring from rattling. There's a video on youtube about this (Kershaw Knockout video I think). Someone cleaned the grease out and used oil....then the spring rattles a bit.

thx for the code, i just picked one up. honestly, kershaw gets my money bc I like most of their blade shapes, assisted open and price.... they win for me. I dont widdle or use my knives really for anything much its in my pocket or in the house... i have one in case i need to jam it in someones rib cage and their steel will work for that every time.

Wow I was just locking at this the other day lol. I have it added to my cart and hopefully it'll be in stock when I have the money. It's a great looking knife with good materials. Only thing I dislike is how deep the clip is. I prefer there to be a little bit of the handle sticking out because it makes it so much easier to remove from the pocket in my opinion.
The Kershaw dividend that's coming out looks like a great one too.
I agree this knife would be perfect unassisted on bearings. I would jump all over it because I'm not a huge fan of assisted blades. I haven't had good luck with kershaws assisted. My hot wires assist broke in no time. I removed the spring and prefer it unassisted without a doubt. I can still flip it open all the way 75% of the time without any wrist flicking. With the wrist it snaps right open easily.
I just bought a Kershaw oso sweet and the assist is much better. I don't mind assists on cheaper knives but on a 80 dollar knife I would just much better a smooth unassisted blade.

Kershaw is my favorite budget but quality knife brand. Ganzo fh91 is now my edc but this will be my next then I plan on buying a Spyderco endura 4 in k390 and a Spyderco police 4 in k390 for my dad. Kershaw is one of the best knife brands imo. I use to carry a cheap Kershaw volt ss when it was 25 to 30$ but now they are asking 40. Kershaw does have the best 8cr13mov however imo. People say Spyderco also has good performing 8cr13mov.

@@sneakypeaky6000 crkt uses custom designs but uses cheap materials and make it mass produced. They have cool designs but Kershaw is built way better and has better 8cr13mov. I had a crkt fossil dropped it once and the top broke. Kershaw will always be my favorite quality but affordable knives. I've had kabar, ganzo fh91, Kershaw volt ss, and crkt fossil plus more I don't remember and the ganzo is my favorite budget knife I have had so far. Next knife will be Kershaw link in 20cv and then a Spyderco endura 4 in k390. Can't wait to get this. I would of bought this knife first if I new of it's existence before buying a ganzo fh91. I wanted a civivi dogma in d2 but it was $48. I saw the ganzo in D2 for half that so I obviously went with ganzo.

Great knife; however....The ONLY drawback on this knife is one (1). There is no jimping where your thumb would go when cutting or applying pressure. As a result it's slippery as butter. Benchmade puts jimping in the exact same spot on all their knives and on my Kershaw Blur, and all other Kershaws, it had jimping there for added grip safety. Otherwise; a great knife and value.

  • @josephmac2386

I've got an original link with the gray anodized handles. A Tanto blade the steel is 420hc. I've had it for a pretty long time. If the new ones are better than the old ones it would probably last you three lifetimes. And Kai Industries as a hell of a good warranty.

  • @sneakypeaky6000

@5:20 the code 4 is another one. S35vn with nice aluminum handles for 80 bucks. Its a great knife too love it and it's extremely sharp out of the box. I have the spear point version and it's a beast of a work knife. Hands down the sharpest knife I've ever gotten out of the box.
Not as great of an example is the buck spitfire in s30v with aluminum handles and multiple color options that's a whopping 55 bucks. Both are great deals though s30v is more debatable but it comes with that bos heat treat. It does take a little while to break it in nice though. It's a bit stiff out of the box but loosens nicely.

It is bigger, mine takes a T9 on the pivot screw. I went to remove the spring, but there is no detent like my Bear Ops assist has. So if the spring breaks you better get a replacement.

  • @MountainFisher
    @MountainFisher 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Know the difference between M390 and CPM 20CV? M390 has .70% silicon which actually should add some toughness. But also will steal some abrasion resistance, not hardness, not edge stability, but abrasion resistance. Won't hold an edge quite as well as 20CV at same hardness, but it's only something a scientific test could ascertain.
You know you can weaken that spring by hitting it with a little torch.

At that price for 20cv sounds suspicious like Bear ops S30v in my opinion for the price. My link came with stripped screws and Kershaw said they'd send me new screws. How does that help me remove the stripped ones.

I have an m390 link and I have to mention that Kershaw did something funky with the heat treat... the m390 doesn’t hold an edge much longer than the 420hc version. Maybe mine is a dud but I feel like I’m touching it up after every day of work.
I might have to pick up this Link and blade swap it as I’m not a fan of this stylized handle.
