    I agree and I also own both. I actually like the ZT 0357 as an EDC, but the value is in the 20CV link. The ZT 0357 has a thicker spring and steel liners, which includes the lock. It also has that working finish on the blade. That may be worth an extra couple of bucks.basically, the 0357 is the child of the Link and the ZT 0350.

    So many good Kershaw folders would be better unassisted. 👍

    I purchased the link and just out of the box it felt cheap to me looks like a gas station knife I sent it back. My 0357 showed up a week ago and to me feels way better in hand and after close inspection, I am fine paying the extra $$ for it that being said I was given a $50 amazon gift card so my out of pocket was $100 but I would still fill that same if I have paid full price.

    The Link is the first Kershaw I've ever really wanted to own, although I owned a little Kershaw Hinderer for a while and gave it to my daughter after a while. I realize that may not make sense, but.... I am most definitely buying a Link!

    Just got my 0357 in today. Paid $120 compared to the $79.99 for the link. Like the grips and heavier build of the 0357 better. I think it is worth the extra $40. Will compare it to my Benchmade 427. Thanks for the video.

    the extra lube is to keep the spring from rattling - so I heard a couple of years ago

    I think a huge difference between the two companies is the handle designs. Kershaw line still keeps pumping out handles that look like gas station knives, I think if they went a little classier with their handle designs Kershaws would start to pull a lot of the zt buyers for all the reasons you mentioned here.

    I LOVE my 20CV Link just as much as my M390 Link, except the 20CV one has a better handle and a better clip! The only thing I HATE is that they’re assisted, I wish they were unassisted like the 20CV Bareknuckle which is PERFECT!

    If you’ve ever watched the Ken Onion interview on why Zero Tolerance was created post 9/11 you’d know they donate some of the proceeds to charities. Ken actually started a great foundation to take Vets up to Alaska and get them on the road to recovery. But some people just shit on things without researching it!

    • @LuvThemKnives
      @LuvThemKnives  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Josh Rice I donate to Healing Waters program for Vets and have done a fund raiser on my channel for them. I also highlighted the Forged by War program from CRKT with Austin Mcglaun who is a vet that designed the Clever Girl knife. I was criticizing one particular ZT knife. Maybe you didn’t watch my entire video. If ZT wants to generate sales then maybe they should step up their game again. If I want to support our Vets I can just donate straight to a particular foundation. Geeez !

    Guess it like buying a Cadillac or a Chevy, better cosmetic look on the Cadillac. Kershaw Link 20CV actually look better than ZT 0357. Thanks LTK

    • @jsgamewow
      @jsgamewow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe if Cadillac was giving a chunk of its proceeds to charity like ZT, as that’s why ZT was founded after 9/11.

    • @stormbringeram
      @stormbringeram 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jsgamewow I heard you bro, I'm sure ZT support for charity is outstanding. The Cadillac statement refer to the ZT 0357 missing luxury feature that should have distinguish itself from the Kershaw Link 20CV. Maybe ZT should have put carbon fiber inlay/insert or something instead of using simple G10 in the handle. ZT is the premium division of Kai USA and Kershaw is not.

    Take those covers off while the blade is extended or that spring might pop on you. I KNOW!!!!! and I had the screws still in the cover plate, I'm surprised I found them all. Also if you remove the spring because you dislike the assist you'll find out that the Link has no detent, I would guess the ZT would be the same. Spring on my Bear Ops Swipe broke so I removed it, but since it has roller bearings and a detent it works excellently without the assist. The Bear Ops' 14C28N measured Rc59.7 in hardness which is above average for most factory knives made from that steel so I kept it instead of sending it to them.
    I sent them my Rancor Bear Ops supposedly made of S30V and asked them to replace it with one made from S30V, haven't heard a thing.

    I own both, and whilst I don’t care for the assisted opening feature, I prefer the 0357 over the Link. I’ll always prefer G10 over aluminium. I like the heavy stone wash finish on the 0357 as well. To be honest, I don’t have a problem with the pricing on the ZT, compared to what Benchmade charges for a G10 handled knife.

    OK, if the opening would have been in Howie Mandel's Bobby voice 🤣 I'm a ZT fanboy of yesteryear and the 0456 is awesome (check my recent IG post), but the last couple of years (with the exception of the 0470), they have gone the way of artsy fartsy chatzky and am not impressed. With the advent of the 0357 and 0308, they are trying to get back to the tanks, but they're not there yet... great/fair comparison/review!

    Kershaw would sell piles more knives if they'd just ditch that stupid gimmicky "speed safe" assisted action.
    It seems like some people are indifferent with most people hating it. I don't know if I've ever heard of anyone just having to have assisted open.
    For me (and many) it's a deal breaker.
    The fidgety satisfaction of a smooth manual open is a huge part of the fun of knives!

    All the ZT knifes are based off a very similar kershaw knife. The reason everyone is overreacting is they used the same steel. They could have used D2 or a lesser steel. But this would have cost more to resent the machines.
    As lesser quality knifes use super steel now, are all ZT, Benchmade and spider Co knifes overrated? Or can we be adult and know there is a trickle down effect!
    My base model f150 has the EcoBoost 3.5 motor. Does this mean the raptor is a waist of money? There is more to it as always.

    You said you don’t get knives sent to you cuz you speak your mind… and you also call people lemmings. I’d rather be a donkey out in the field by itself if it means I get to do my own thing instead of a gorgeous stallion who gets led around by the nose. Same thing as the lemmings… people into knives nowadays will gladly throw money at a “NAME” when they just don’t have to… I imagine in some areas a good knife from a really good maker is of importance… a guide out quartering up the kill in the field to backpack it back to camp, or a captain who will catch and cook out on the boat after a nice catch. But most people aren’t doing that. They’re just spending money on expensive knives that have no way of setting a scale for a price range. And, that’s what’s wrong… the makers are just soaking us for our money and we just take it. I’m not saying don’t enjoy buying any knives just for the cherished workmanship. I’m saying we just ain’t getting what we used to… especially when you can CAD design and then CNC machine for what, half the cost??? I love a good made knive just like anyone, but I also realize that it’s sometimes just not up to standards once ago. And cheapo knives are sometimes just as good as, if not, in some cases, better than…
