I live in a condo and would love one of these cameras. The problem is that many STRATAs do not allow aesthetic changes to anything outside of the suite. I wish this unit had all the hardware on the inside of the door.
Because most apt doesn't allow you to have a device that films the common areas. I've lived in 6 apt complex in the past 10 yrs and not a single one allowed it, although I've seen some people have it installed regardless.
Just ordered one as recommended by my lawyer, and it should be arriving tomorrow May 9, 2024. We'll see how it goes. Your video was very detailed and easy to understand. The only thing you forgot to mention was the battery pack (comes with 1 battery pack), and it takes awhile to charge, but is supposed to last up to 4 months. I was told most people order an extra battery pack, so I did, because when you change out the battery you will want another one fully charged and ready to go. Also, this item was discontinued in 2021, but has been brought back by RING in 2024.
The knock detection sold me on this! For anyone interested Target is currently having a deal on these, you get BOTH the ring peephole or doorbell + an echo dot for $60.94 total. Thats better than the amazon 2020 prime day deal.
My kid's cirriculum and Christmas present were both stolen today, so we definitely have a peephole camera on the way now. Thanks for helping me set it up.
So glad you mentioned about the storm door. Our peephole has glass from the storm door in front of it - I didn't think about it messing up night vision. You just saved me money and time; thanks!
Yeah it be cool if they made this a little more discreet. Like instead of that obvious looking camera box on the outside design it so that it is inside your house and it's just look exactly like a normal peephole from the outside
Also to keep in mind when the person damages the lens with scratches or whatever how much would it cost to replace the lens a warranty only goes so far.
Yes, but it will act as a deterrent for most "suspects" so they don't even TRY to mess with your door or steal a package as they can clearly SEE there's a camera recording them. Consequently, the street/ghetto-trash might move on and look for an easier target -- like your neighbor who didn't have a camera? ;-) So that's something to think about... -- BR

I have had one for 5 days now. I really like that I can check in any time and see what's going on. The sound is not the best but its more important to see whos at the door. I am happy with it so much so I have bought another one today for my back door to watch my garage. Simple to set up. mine has been running 5 days with a lot of use and battery is still on 94% a friend has one and says he is getting about 6 weeks before he needs to re charge. I have bought a spare battery as they are only £19.99 so can just swap them over when I need to charge a battery. I give the product 8 out of 10 so far
Love this review! I wish that I would have watched this before I purchased it. It's a great product and it was an easy install however just as mentioned, if there is a screen/barrier door present, the motion sensor will not recognize or alert you of ANY activity until the screen door is opened. You can view/record live video outside your home but it won't catch the "porch pirates", inconsiderate delivery drivers or unwanted guests on camera😔. I'm renting a home so, didn't want to drill any holes and now I see that they have a "no drill" base so, I may try that. Thank you for your review!!
We have one! Super easy installation, it was a Christmas gift to us, but is going to come in handy to catch the person letting their dog us #2 in front of our door/grassy area in the apt. complex I live in.
I literally just purchased this on amazon today and it arrived today it was $141.17 cents. I love it! I am wondering if there is a better version of this ring doorbell? I am glad I got it! The only thing I am slightly worried about is the person that lives next to us front door is literally a foot away from ours and two other doors so there are four neighbors' doors all next to each other It is a little weird honestly but I hope none of the neighbors tampers with my ring doorbell. This is what I am worried about. Question: Do I have to keep the Wi-Fi turned on, on my cell phone while I am at work using this ring doorbell?
Thanks for this review. My only suggestion is that the installation description should start with charging the battery. The one that came with ours required 5 hours of charge before setup.
Really good review thank you! Just picked one up my self. In regards to the footage review you didn't mention that you have to subscribe to their cloud plan as there is no local storage on the device.
Your assistant is beautiful! I am a new sub. I've just moved to my home in the mountains and don't have a peephole at all. I got a Ring and now know how easy it is to install. If only I can drill a straight hole lol.
Thanks for the tip about this camera not working well with another door in front of it. I have an enclosed porch with a glass door so I'll avoid this thanks 😊

Or is there a light that on the outside that gives away the fact that live view and sound are on? Thank you in advance for your help answering this!

Is there a workaround if you have a glass door in front of the peephole cam? Would like to be able to use this, but may not be able to use it as a replacement to our existing peephole.
