If this is your first GDQ viewing, please watch from 1:16-48:11. It's a bit of time to ask for, but if you watch it, you'll understand why this is a thing. Not all runs are equal, but this is one of the best I've ever seen, from the run itself to the couch comments to the audience... You can feel the community in this run. It's a good time. Only wish I could have seen it live.
A normal mortal: Yeah, I beat this this hack in 126 hours and 41 min. So proud of myself. Dode: Hold my shell. Beat it in 42 min and swag it up with various speed strats and frame perfect tricks. And first shot the shell summit. Inhuman. Cheers to the whole community.
Put the spotlight on chocolate LOL now look at SMW NotLikeThis I miss my Vanilla early chocolate days lol. GG's still a good watch. Hey it's me on the couch
You know, I've been wondering... does anyone playing these hacks make use of the two-player feature? I wonder how much longer that takes? x) Also, I wish death animations and pipe-traveling were that fast in the actual Mario games.
I can't work out what they are trying to do with the giant P switch when they all shout "Ah he got it!" at the end of the level.... can someone please enlighten me? I've seen it on loads of runs now but it's never explained what they are trying to get lol
Runner introduction starts at 00:52
Run starts at 01:16
Couch commentary is provided by NobleTofu, Juzcook and Arisendead
CovertMuffin is host.
46:08 - 47:42 if anyone was wondering...
119 shell jumps back-to-back (including the saves)
And it's to the Millionaire music? Awesome.
@@Kastagaar I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out where I knew the music from...if only I had scrolled down into the comments :|
@@jivjov 47:13 "It's also called the Millionaire Challenge." once I heard that word I was able to place it. :P
Millionaire music? Can someone tell me the title?

"This is one of the hardest parts of the game.... and Dode just nailed it"
My god that 1st try shell summit.
Misses shell jump in the switch palace but then does shell summit first try. Ok Dode Ok.
its a steep learning curve
Look mate, sometimes a shell jump gives you shit, sometimes it doesnt lol
All of these levels look like they have a really satisfying rhythm to them.
That's fitting - isn't Juz a musician?
Great run, Dode. And awesome commentary by the couch, Juz, Tofu, and Arisen. Definitely one of the highlights of SGDQ2019
This was super-enjoyable to watch. The couch added so much entertainment. Great chemistry and great energy all around!
This the most stylish looking rom hack I've ever seen and I love it!
that shell jumping is DISGUSTING. So impressive
"Dode makes it look easy" Holy shit I wouldn't want to imagine how nightmarish something would have to be to make it "look hard".
Well watch the smw directory on twitch and you can see the best struggle and mo longer imagine haha
Dode is one of the best runners. Congrats.
I guess this is the TAS-guy I've heard so much about :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Dode has always been an absolute monster. Ridiculous end too
I love all the SMW romhack runs this year, commentary + runs are insane!!
Really incredible play. Great run, great commentary, great hack!
still one of my favorite gdq runs ever. shoutouts to the kaizo community for creating something so fun to watch
At 39:00 it's not flossing, it's the Mario dance! Swing your arms from side to side, come on everyone, do the mario!
46:08 Bonus: shell summit (one-shot!)
13:22 Remilia's Theme from Touhou 6
same, i was like WAIT A SECOND THATS A TOUHOU THEME
13:37 hold up that's Septette for the Dead Princess
The song in Sewer Smashin' that they commented on is from Jazz Jackrabbit. Game had an awesome soundtrack.
Damn, GREAT choices in music for this soundtrack, wow. I am digging this music, dude.
Indeed. I love the music.
@@tubeincompetence It's mostly Undertale remixes
Great ROM hack with great music (still listening to the soundtrack at work), great speedrunner and couch. Sooooo enjoyable
TheMrAraca how do you get ost?
@@AlexKrasnyPrime like have of it is from a game called Undertale
I recognize touhou music anywhere. Good run also.
Yap, Remilias Theme from Touhou 6 at around 13:22
Yep! humming it the entire time, i love the music
19:47 Ruins from Undertale.
awesome hack, awesome soundtrack, awesome play from dode and a good commentary from tofu, arisen and of course the creator juzcook.
OH SNAP. 18:40. Crusader No Remorse main menu theme. WOW.
Riding that boomerang the way he does twice, that's a high level of gaming expertise.
Love it, one of the most entertaining GDQ runs I've watched.
I really wanna check out these tournaments someday. Jus being there to watch would be the best
Wow, it was just AWESOME
I couldn't even complete it
11:10 Castlevania Adventure - Battle of the Holy. Dayum, someone remembers this game!?
I don't, but I love its music ;)
A breathing Tas-Bot. Damn impressive! ❤️
The music in this game is absolute fire.
This was a joy to watch. Props to everyone involved
That shell jump challenge after the run. . . FUCKIGN LEGEND
built to fall is one of the most fun kaizo levels ive ever played
These are so satisfying to watch, knowing that so few people can even complete this game at any time.
This run is pure joy.
Wow, that Secret Level!
Super good stuff from the runner here
7:18 Hell yeah! I love Jewel Mans theme!
i dont know but invictus being speedruned has a thick irony since invictus meant unconquered
Tofu when Dode beat thumbshredder at the end
Missed opportunity to call that a "Kamek mechanic"
27:27 FF5
Best cave music in the Final Fantasy series, in my opinion.
Yes. Better than FF6's. Fight me.
Oh god the floss
Smw kaizo scene ftw
I see Dode's a man of culture as well
The maptheme is from waterworld on snes. The map screen theme
33:54 | Oh my God I love the Ghost Trick music!!!! 😊
That level at 37:54 looks pretty sweet
Megalovania.
I'd love to see a music track list for this game. Because some real good choices were made.

I spedran Invictus in roughly 240 hours! Beat that!
33:55 for ghost trick music
19:44 BRO THIS MARIO REMIX OF TORIEL'S THEME FROM UNDERTALE IS 🔥
It's not Toriel's Theme. It's the underground theme. But yes it certainly is amazing!
37:54 has MeGaLoVania
Love all of your videos ive been watching for avout two years now and am completely amazed with everything you do
The touhou music is really fitting lmao
Great run!
34:07 I guess you can call it a, “Mekamek”.
13:20 That's Septette For A Dead Princess! From Touhou 6
No kaizo blocks in the game? Lies!
Oh, must've been a misprint. It should say, "No, kaizo blocks!"
There aren't Kaizo block*s*, but there is *a* Kaizo block :p
Sour Lyme I would never!
"We said 'No Kaizo BLOCKS'. We're allowed one."
Ok. So every level is everyone’s favorite level. That’s what I’m learning from watching Mario hacks. They’re all favorite.
Nothin wrong with that
the tune from the level from 9.30 is actually from a old game called jazzjackrabbit
Absolute Power at 37:56 fills me with DETERMINATION for some odd reason...
It's absolutely amazing watching this game be played, it makes me want to start playing kaizo myself!
just noticed the game has touhou music WOW
edit: just checked the soundtrack, and it was just there for one level but still COOOOOOOOOOOL
That was awesome!!!
The soundtrack to this hack is super legit. I want it
30:40... "I decided to do VVVV...V....V?"
"One more V." Haha!
Loved it!
Put the spotlight on chocolate LOL now look at SMW NotLikeThis I miss my Vanilla early chocolate days lol. GG's still a good watch. Hey it's me on the couch
Alright Sounds Good!
Alright, sounds good!
33:54 Ghost Trick music! Seriously underrated game
Thank you! I knew I recognized this song, but I couldn't remember where from.
That "Hee Hee" @ 30:28 tho
Who else is mad “the clock room” doesn’t go clockwise?
You just have to love it when the audience reacted the second Megalovania started playing at Absolute Power.
I finally completed 1st level
It took me 1 hour 36 minutes
anyone elske notice how many of the mechanics of this hack is implemented in MM2?
why did they allow a human TAS at GDQ?
33:55
Whoever ported that MASTERPIECE from the MAGNIFICENT Ghost Trick soundtrack, you're a fucking LEGEND
13:45 septtete for the dead princess
37:54 Megalovania.
God dode
shout out to everyone who opened another browser tab to check if moon shoes are real
Of course they're real. I use to see the commercials all day when I was a kid. I really wanted a pair.
those SHELLs
10:25 My anxiety hates this
This game looks super fun
You know, I've been wondering... does anyone playing these hacks make use of the two-player feature? I wonder how much longer that takes? x)
Also, I wish death animations and pipe-traveling were that fast in the actual Mario games.
There is one, but it's a spoiler to one of the game's biggest puzzles if I mention which one.
I want that megalovania cover used in one of the last levels, but I can’t find that specific one anywhere. And the koopa’s road one
Plumber's Nightmare had Remilia's theme, didn't it? And the ghost house has ruins from Undertale, neat.
if you too you recognised the jazz jackrabbit OST
You know it's a true kaizo hack when they put a Touhou song in.
So good
I can't work out what they are trying to do with the giant P switch when they all shout "Ah he got it!" at the end of the level.... can someone please enlighten me? I've seen it on loads of runs now but it's never explained what they are trying to get lol
A Yump is a one frame trick where the runner jumps off a P-switch, or a palace switch, and is one of the swaggiest moves in Mario Rom-hacks
